Chapter 1711 A Special Team (Part 1)
When Raze walked in with absolute confidence, doing everything he had set out to do, he managed to accomplish his mission. Fear was spreading through the Noble Guild, faster than any spell ever could.
There were many among them who had been confident, those who truly believed that nothing could stop them. Everything had been prepared in advance, layers upon layers of planning, resources, and power. They believed this was the moment their new world and new order would finally begin.
The only thing that could possibly stand against them was the Dark Magus.
But how could anyone break through all of this?
Raze had given them his answer the moment he arrived, delivering a devastating blow that shook their belief to its core.
"What is everyone doing? The Dark Magus is here, attack!" one of the mages shouted from the top of a building.
Before anyone else could react, Raze stomped his foot into the ground and threw out his fist.
It looked like a simple movement, nothing flashy or exaggerated, but Raze poured an immense amount of Qi into the strike. Far more than he needed. He wanted hesitation to spread, wanted them to feel the pressure.
A Dark Pulse shot out like a laser, tearing through the air and going straight through the mage's chest.
The others saw a barrier activate from the mage's cloak, but it only existed for an instant. It shattered immediately, offering no protection as the mage's body fell lifelessly from the rooftop.
Seeing this, several others quickly chose to retreat, throwing themselves off the edges of buildings just to escape being targeted. Those on the ground, however, had no such luxury.
The mages below began casting spells, light and magic flaring in every direction. But those closest to Raze were already moving.
"Let us deal with this!" Londo shouted.
He slammed his hands into the ground, building up a large wall of earth that rose in front of them, blocking a number of incoming attacks. Spells crashed into the wall, shaking it violently until it finally crumbled apart.
The moment it did, Londo raised his hand again and flung out a lightning strike. The bolt tore through the air and struck one of the mages directly in the eye, dealing heavy damage and dropping them instantly.
These mages were wearing powerful robes, far stronger than those on the outer tier. However, Londo had already layered black magic into his attack, breaking through the barrier before the lightning fully connected.
The lightning itself was weakened, but the dark magic had already done its job, destroying the defensive enchantment protecting them.
"Everyone, be careful! Remember to use your enchanted items!" one of the mages shouted.
As those words rang out, a strange orb suddenly appeared in front of the group. More specifically, it landed directly in front of B. A moment later, several mages teleported right in front of them, surrounding her position.
All of them had fire magic prepared, spells ready to explode in an instant.
But B had already wound up her fist.
Blood began swirling around her, thick and heavy in the air, reacting to her intent.
"Thank you for coming closer to me," B said calmly. "That just made you the perfect target."
The fire magic exploded outward, flames surging toward her all at once. At the same time, B swung her fist forward.
When the two forces collided, it was immediately clear which power was superior.
The flames were crushed, disappearing as if swallowed whole, while the mages themselves were hit directly and blasted away in different directions.
Around them, the rest of the group was holding their own despite the enchanted items being used against them. Some attacks were even being reflected back toward their original casters.
Liam moved through the battlefield with precision, slashing through incoming threats with his all-cutting sword. Each swing was clean and deliberate, breaking through defenses and protecting those fighting alongside him.
"Raze, you've done a lot to shake these guys up," Kelly said. "But you need to save your strength for the real enemy when they arrive. Let us do our part as much as possible."
Raze didn't respond, but he slowed his advance slightly, allowing the others to take more of the pressure.
The group continued to fight well, but it quickly became clear that something was changing. Several mages who had been struck down were starting to stand back up, even after suffering severe wounds.
It appeared that they were sharing enchanted items among themselves.
Some focused on casting larger shields, protecting groups from wide-scale attacks. Others used healing devices while constantly moving, making it difficult to pin them down. Slowly, their formation began to stabilize.
The fear Raze had instilled at the start of the battle began to fade.
Confidence was returning to the Noble Guild mages as they leaned on their numbers, coordination, and equipment.
That was when something else appeared.
Straight down the center of the battlefield, through the path carved by Raze's earlier attack, a new force emerged.
"Everyone, it's the magic swordsman unit!" someone from the Noble Guild shouted.
A group of mages surged forward together, swords drawn and held firmly in front of them. There were around thirty of them, all moving in perfect unison. Wind magic swirled around their legs, pushing them forward at incredible speed.
Magic swordsmen were rare, and skilled ones even more so.
The Noble Guild had gathered the best of the best, and the enchanted items equipped on them were clearly designed for direct combat. Judging by the reactions of the other mages, this unit was one of their strongest forces.
They charged forward without hesitation, closing the distance rapidly.
"I'll deal with this," Raze said as he stepped ahead of the group.
