Chapter 787: Chapter 489: Forcibly Excavating the Crystal Cluster Vein (2)

The man in the military uniform stood in front of the command platform,

watching his unit’s energy reserves depleting, his eyes narrowing involuntarily.

If this wave wasn’t successful, they might really face total annihilation.

The threats they faced included not just the approaching Godzilla but also the Megalodon beneath the sea, whose burst speed far exceeded the speed of sound!

Squeezed between these two forces, their only way out was to accelerate towards the seabed to uncover its hidden secrets. But in doing so, their energy might be completely exhausted upon reaching the seabed, leaving no energy for the return journey, which also meant certain death.

So the man in the military uniform was gambling.

He was betting on whether the secrets hidden in the seabed could grant them extraordinary power. If the seabed really harbored such secrets, they might grasp a sliver of hope.

They descended rapidly, and in just a few minutes, they traveled from approximately five thousand meters deep to eight thousand meters below.

This was the domain of the Megalodon.

Upon arriving here, everyone involuntarily displayed signs of tension, continuously probing their surroundings, fearing that a terrifying monster might suddenly dart out from the darkness to devour them!

But the man’s expression remained unchanged, and he coldly ordered, "Stay focused! Keep accelerating!"

"Yes!"

Upon receiving the command, they regained their composure and continued to maintain supercavitation through the console, further burning reserve energy, and once again accelerated to supersonic speeds, leading numerous small power armors towards the deeper, darker seabed.

Buzz——

The wandering Megalodon nearby sensed the strong vibrations, and its eyes flashed scarlet, like a venomous spider sensing a tremor on a web, it swiftly swam towards the source of the disturbance. But the fleet had now accelerated to an average speed of over 1,500 kilometers per hour; such speed was nearly impossible to track with the naked eye underwater. Even though the Megalodon could exceed the speed of sound, it had difficulty pursuing them.

In the blink of an eye, the fleet led by the military man reached the deepest part of the seabed.

Upon reaching the ocean floor, all the technical personnel in the nuclear submarines dared not remain idle and quickly employed detection instruments to scan the terrain in search of the seabed’s hidden secrets.

Given the mission’s critical nature, they carried virtually every detection instrument available.

If even this arsenal failed to detect the secrets, they truly had no other options.

As time ticked by, the inner tension of everyone, including the man in the military uniform, intensified. The Megalodon could appear at any moment, and every second they delayed increased the danger. But regrettably, the process of scanning required time, with the transmission medium and loading process demanding at least over a minute.

Despite the psychological pressure, many technical personnel were on the verge of breaking, but thankfully they had undergone rigorous selection and training, possessing psychological resilience far exceeding the average person’s, preventing them from complete collapse.

After more than a minute of searching, they detected an area of anomalous energy fluctuation. That energy anomaly was located at the center of a large ring-shaped mountain in the Mariana Trench. Under the influence of the abnormal energy, the seawater seemed to undulate in a very rhythmical micro-vibration, similar to the ultrasonic cleaning machines commonly used in optical shops. Under such micro-vibrations, all impurities were pushed aside, unable to bury the ring-shaped mountain, suggesting that something of high energy might be hidden beneath the Central Peak.

"Excellent!" The military man couldn’t help but smile upon receiving this news and quickly ordered his subordinates to head towards the direction of the anomalous energy fluctuation.

Moments later, they arrived around the Central Peak and immediately dispatched several small power armors to carefully inspect the surrounding soil and rocks.

However, after several seconds of searching, they still failed to find any special substances, discovering at most some rare minerals near the Central Peak. Additionally, they observed a deep, rust-colored chasm at the peak, endlessly spewing forth indigo-blue phosphorescence.

While the ring-shaped mountain appeared to be an ancient meteor crater and covered an expansive area, still unburied after all these years, offering significant research value for humanity,

what they needed wasn’t long-term research value but tangible results. If they couldn’t find any extraordinary level harvest within this seabed crater now, they would all perish here, buried in the ocean depths.

Currently, the only somewhat suspicious element was the volcanic-like structure at the Central Peak’s summit. Though deeply submerged, it sustained such high temperatures and emitted light, which was blatantly unreasonable.

Without unexpected developments, the chasm likely hid Wang Ye’s secrets, but the heat was immense, nearly a thousand degrees Celsius, and their submarines weren’t equipped to withstand high temperatures. Venturing in recklessly could result in death.

All eyes turned to the man in the military uniform, awaiting his next decisive move.

He clenched his teeth, seemingly making a firm decision, and quickly ordered:

"Fire a Hydrogen Torpedo at the ring-shaped mountain immediately! I want to see what’s hiding beneath!"

"Yes!" Upon receiving the command, the technical personnel in the nuclear submarine swiftly prepared to launch the Hydrogen Torpedo while distancing themselves from the target location. Given that the Hydrogen Torpedo was equipped with a hydrogen bomb, its lethality was extreme, capable of annihilating everything within a radius of kilometers in an instant, even underwater, requiring preemptive distancing before every launch.

But just as they were preparing,

the seawater above suddenly exhibited a violent tremor.

"Damn, the Megalodon’s here!" The military man’s eyes sharpened as he noticed the red dot appearing on the detector.

"Dispatch small power armors to engage! Second nuclear submarine, prepare to fire the Hydrogen Torpedo at the Megalodon!"

Luckily, his wealth of combat experience allowed him to react immediately upon sensing the approaching threat and devise countermeasures.

A swarm of small power armors surged forward like a hive, surrounding the Megalodon with self-detonation tactics.

Buzz buzz!!!

The high-frequency sawtooth blades quickly carved deep bone-exposing gashes on the Megalodon’s skin. Although it let out a painful wail, these flesh wounds weren’t severe for it, and its cells began to regenerate at a visible speed. It roared angrily, swinging its body, instantly smashing dozens of small power armors, scattering debris and metal fragments into the sea floor.

Rumble!!!

But as it fought the small power armors, two super nuclear submarines were simultaneously in targeting mode,

In a blink.

Two torpedoes shot out, one aimed at the ring-shaped mountain and the other at the Megalodon.

Equipped with supercavitation technology, the torpedoes reached their targets swiftly.

Boom!!!

The entire ocean area resonated as if struck by a terrible thunderbolt thrown by a divine force, erupting in a deafening roar. Two colossal fireballs, carrying temperatures in the hundreds of thousands to millions of degrees Celsius, rapidly expanded. Terrifying shockwaves tore through the sea, forming a vacuum cavity several kilometers in radius. The buried ring-shaped mountain’s rock layers vaporized and boiled in the nuclear explosion’s high heat, with molten, lava-like glowing substances erupting from the fissures.

Meanwhile, the immense body of the Megalodon was instantly carbonized and disintegrated in the hydrogen bomb’s flash. Its regenerative cells, unable to react in time, were utterly obliterated.
