Chapter 777: Chapter 484: Alien Silicon-Based Life_2

The three of them nodded thoughtfully.

Although they hadn’t spent much time with Wang Ye, it was clear that Wang Ye’s mind was very meticulous, and he could never make such obvious mistakes.

Moreover, they now knew that the secret hidden in the deepest part of the Mariana Trench was actually the Extraterrestrial Crystal Cluster.

This substance was also very important to Wang Ye, so he couldn’t easily give it to other countries.

In general, deep in the Mariana Trench, it’s very likely that Wang Ye has left behind some contingency plan.

"Haven’t we been able to help Wang Ye with anything during this time?" Wu Chen asked.

Old Yi shook his head and said, "We can’t confront them head-on. As I understand it, more than 80% of countries worldwide have joined the National Extraordinary Response Alliance, and among them are many powerful nations. If we confront them directly now, it would be like a mantis trying to stop a chariot. But there’s a delaying tactic, to hold them off temporarily."

"What tactic?" the three of them asked in confusion.

"Borrowing power from a tiger,"

"Borrowing... power from a tiger?"

"It’s simple. Starting tomorrow, use the media to tell everyone that Wang Ye has returned to Earth, so they will stay put out of fear," Old Yi said.

"But this can only delay them for two or three days, right?" Wu Chen frowned and said. With remote sensing satellites already spread around the world, searching for whether Wang Ye is on Earth is not difficult.

As long as they search seriously, they could uncover this lie in two or three days, then launch a more intense offensive on the Mariana Trench.

"Of course, a lie alone can’t last long; that’s why we need to cooperate with a live performance," Old Yi continued.

"How do we perform?" the three asked again, puzzled.

Old Yi stared straight at the three of them, a slight smile on his lips. "If I’m not mistaken, you should have mastered Telekinesis by now, right."

"How do you know?" The three were astonished.

"I also received Wang Ye’s modifications, so I know about Telekinesis, but my modification wasn’t thorough, so my abilities are weaker than yours." Old Yi paused and continued to ask, "I’m wondering with your current level of Telekinesis, can you manage Flying?"

Wu Chen thought for a moment and replied, "On the Moon, it’s barely possible, but Earth’s gravity is six times stronger, so we can’t guarantee free flight. But we are certain that if we exert our full Telekinesis, we should be able to lift our bodies off the ground on Earth for more than five seconds."

"That’s enough." Old Yi grinned again.

"What exactly do you want us to do?" Wu Chen asked curiously. "You’re not trying to have us impersonate Wang Ye, are you?"

"You guessed it." Old Yi laughed.

Venus.

After entering underground on Venus, Wang Ye acted like a mole, constantly burrowing everywhere inside Venus. He was examining Venus’s internal structure carefully.

Gradually, he discovered that inside Venus, there seemed to be a sedimentary structure similar to Earth’s stromatolites.

This implies that some photosynthetic microorganisms may have existed on ancient Venus.

Subsequently, Wang Ye continued to explore deeper and unexpectedly found that some carbonate rock layers contained traces of residual water.

According to the Faint Young Sun Paradox, early Venus might have had liquid water, but none can be seen now.

In other words, there could very well be leftover microorganisms in these residual waters.

Wang Ye cautiously submerged his senses into these residual waters and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were indeed some microbial fossil traces in these residual waters. Based on his further investigation, he found out that these microorganisms seemed to have died out due to some mass extinction billions of years ago,

He squinted slightly and spent more than an hour searching the entire underground of Venus but found no other trace of biological fossils. This means that the microbial fossil traces in this residual water are very likely the only evidence of life on Venus.

Wang Ye had to continue examining these microbial fossil traces carefully, finding that these fossils retained cell membrane traces composed of silicon dioxide. Additionally, they were attached to some high-temperature-resistant metal particles like tungsten and molybdenum.

Upon detecting these characteristics, his pupils slightly narrowed. Obviously, these characteristics were indicative of Silicon-Based Life.

As he continued observing closely, he further discovered fossil traces exhibiting an outer silicon salt acid layer enclosing inner carbon-based remnants in a laminated structure, indicating a transition process from carbon-based to silicon-based evolution. Wang Ye speculated that this process possibly occurred during Venus’s environmental degradation as theorized in the Faint Young Sun Paradox,

In other words, if these microorganisms hadn’t gone extinct, they might have gradually evolved into silicon-based organisms.

This discovery intrigued Wang Ye somewhat,

Silicon-Based Life is actually just a hypothesis, one that only exists in science fiction.

For instance, Asimov, in his work, described six different forms of life,

namely, fluoro-silicone life-forms, fluoro-sulfur life-forms, nucleic acid-protein life using water as a medium, nucleic acid-protein life using ammonia as a medium, lipid-based compound life using methane as a medium, and lipid-based compound life using hydrogen as a medium.

The first one is Silicon-Based Life.

Life on Earth is Carbon-Based Life.

The main difference between Carbon-Based Life and Silicon-Based Life is that the molecules in carbon-based organisms are mainly composed of Carbon Atoms, while in silicon-based life, the molecules are mainly composed of silicon atoms.

In simple terms, they are two different evolutionary directions. The silicon and carbon elements belong to the same main group, which leads to many similarities in their chemical properties.

For example, after a chemical reaction with hydrogen atoms, silicon forms silane, while carbon forms methane.

Perhaps many people still don’t realize the differences between Carbon-Based and Silicon-Based life forms,

What external differences will the different evolutionary directions bring?

According to human conjecture, the most significant characteristic of silicon-based organisms is the ability to withstand the extreme and harsh environments of most planets in the cosmos.

This is because the internal structure of the silicon element is very stable.

It makes Silicon-Based Life more potent than Carbon-Based Life in adapting to harsh environments.

From an atomic level, the outer electron configuration of silicon atoms enables them to form relatively stable chemical bonds.

Take silicon dioxide as an example, its crystal structure closely connects silicon atoms with oxygen atoms through covalent bonds, forming a stable three-dimensional network.

This gives silicon dioxide a very high degree of hardness and chemical stability.

It can enable Silicon-Based Life to possibly survive and evolve in environments full of high-energy cosmic radiation.

In comparison, Carbon-Based Life seems extremely vulnerable,

A slight change in temperature can cause carbon-based life to catch a cold, suffer heatstroke, and other ailments. Long-term exposure to radiation would also lead to organisms developing cancer and various conditions. Carbon-Based Life is also susceptible to infections, fungi, and all sorts of life-threatening diseases.

These are actually due to the traits of the carbon base.

But Silicon-Based Life wouldn’t have these worries. For Silicon-Based Life, 200 to 400 degrees Celsius is the perfect living environment. Additionally, they are not sensitive to temperature changes. Differences of even a few hundred degrees wouldn’t elicit much reaction from Silicon-Based Life. Moreover, Silicon-Based Life don’t require water and oxygen, meaning they can survive and evolve in the harsh environments present on most planets.

Also, according to humanity’s conjecture, as long as the environment remains stable, Silicon-Based Life can achieve immortality because their life form is almost akin to a rock,

Meanwhile, Silicon-Based Life would also be stronger, larger, with a higher physical limitation than Carbon-Based Life.

It seems that Silicon-Based Life is almost a perfect lifeform.

But, not exactly.
