Chapter 746: Chapter 469: The Emergence of Superman

After consecutive epiphanies, their spirits gradually began to adapt to their physical abilities.

Making their average speed increasingly close to one hundred kilometers per hour,

If they continue running at this speed,

in less than two days, they will complete the first task.

Running around Japan in a full circle.

Their flow state persisted for several hours before gradually returning to normal as their stamina was depleted.

At the same time, they suddenly realized their speed had increased to such an astonishing level.

A speed of 100 kilometers per hour may not seem so exaggerated on a regular road.

After all, cars and motorcycles, which are everywhere, can travel at speeds over 100 kilometers per hour.

But in the wilderness, it is quite exaggerated because the ground in the wilderness is very rugged, full of uneven stones and obstacles, ordinary tires, and even oversized off-road tires have difficulty driving fast on this kind of surface, and the most powerful off-road motorcycle can only reach speeds of more than fifty kilometers per hour in such a wilderness.

This is also the reason humans and most animals on Earth have not evolved circular body structures,

It is well known that animals in nature, through hundreds of millions of years of evolution, have evolved many ways to move.

Such as fins, limbs, legs, wings, etc., each containing very complex movement processes, just like walking with two legs, when humans hadn’t researched this mode of movement, it was difficult to realize how difficult walking is, but when humans began to study movement anatomy, they gradually realized how many complex signal commands and mechanical supports are needed for a living entity to walk normally.

To this day, the bionic robots created by humans that walk on two legs still have very strange walking postures, and using robots to simulate human facial features and expressions is also very strange, even triggering deep-seated fears within the human genes, known as the uncanny valley effect. This is because there might have been creatures very similar to humans in ancient times that slaughtered many humans, leaving behind a strong fear in human genes, passed down to this day.

Compared to these complex movement methods like two legs, limbs, wings, etc., tires are obviously simpler and more efficient; just a bearing and a circular wheel can achieve high-speed travel, and due to low friction and resistance, a bit of power allows for much faster speeds than running, which is why humans, relying on muscle movement, can cycle much faster than run.

Yet humans and other animals continue to use the inefficient two-leg running method to move, which seems puzzling to many.

Evidently, natural evolution isn’t foolish.

Countless creatures in nature have long discovered that this rolling method can tremendously save energy and unleash extremely high speeds.

For example, some uniquely structured microorganisms like bacteria move using rapidly rotating flagella behind them, rotifers move quickly using wheels in front of them, certain spiders and ants curl into balls to rapidly escape when facing danger, and the dung beetle, called the scarab, rolls animal dung into a ball for transport. To cite an extreme example, crocodiles often quickly spin their bodies when gripping prey to cause rapid blood loss in the prey, a technique humans call the death roll. This shows many organisms already discovered rolling as a way to move quickly with many advantages for hunting.

But nowadays in nature, there are very few creatures that rely purely on rolling for movement.

The reason is straightforward: wheels aren’t suitable for movement in nature. Compared to fully circular wheels, humans and other limb-moving creatures can move more conveniently on rugged terrain, where wheels consume significant energy to cross slopes and uneven parts, while legs simply need to be lifted to pass.

In primitive terrains, legs facilitate faster movement. Only since roads became smoother in modern times have legs fallen behind tires.

Even in modern times, in areas without roads, tires struggle to move fast.

It still requires using horses and cattle to transport goods.

There’s a reasonable chance organisms evolved wheels in primitive times but were eliminated due to survival of the fittest.

Humans’ current physique might be of little use in modern society, but if returned to nature, they’ll be like fish back in water. The body structures screened by nature over hundreds of millions of years will be fully unleashed in nature. That’s why many people enjoy frequent trips to the mountains or parks, as environments closer to primitive forests offer subconscious comfort.

Realizing their speed was so astounding, the three astronauts were overjoyed.

They knew they were about to adapt to this excessively strong body.

Meanwhile, many local residents in Japan began to notice the three men running wildly through the wilderness.

Since all three were Asian, others weren’t aware they were astronauts from China.

They just judged, based on clothing and gear, that they might be personnel from some organization.
