Chapter 738: Chapter 465: Superman Triathlon? No, Superman Triathlon

"Alright, let’s get back to business." Old Yi thought for a moment and asked, "Are you satisfied with the three astronauts selected?"

"To be honest, not really."

Wang Ye usually speaks frankly. Although these three astronauts are considered the most outstanding group in history, with many veteran astronauts painstakingly teaching them, their practical experience and theoretical knowledge are very extensive.

But to be honest, they are still too fragile. Among these three, only Wang Ye’s apprentice, Wu Chen, is considered slightly stronger, but even then, he merely meets the human limit. Even when Wang Ye ascends to the Moon, he worries about possible accidents, hence he has been tempering his physique till this day.

Now he can confidently ensure his perfect survival in the Cosmos or Moon’s environment without any protection.

Given the physical conditioned of these candidates, if they leave Earth and encounter accidents, their mortality rate would almost be a hundred percent.

Under the protection of the moon mission rocket and spacesuits, they might complete this Moon landing plan successfully, but Wang Ye requires absolute certainty. Moreover, his mission may not return to Earth soon, so he needs to guarantee that these astronauts will not hold him back.

Therefore, before implementing the Moon landing plan, Wang Ye needs to further enhance the astronauts’ qualities as much as possible.

"Do you mean to improve these astronauts’ strengths within ten days?" Old Yi spoke, his tone suddenly lowered and asked in a voice inaudible to those around him, "Are you considering using the Primordial Spirit embodiment, forcing their physical improvement in that way?"

"Yes, but the embodiment is not omnipotent. It can only strengthen their physique to your level, which is clearly far from sufficient, so besides embodiment enhancement, I will conduct special training for them." Wang Ye shook his head and explained.

Regarding special training content, he already has initial ideas in his mind. The special training will not interfere with his cultivation, but enhance his growth instead. Because these astronauts, with their focused determination and sturdy bodies, are excellent containers for embodiment, they can help him train his Primordial Spirit’s strength.

As he observed Wang Ye’s contemplative expression, Old Yi couldn’t help but feel a chill. He continuously felt that Wang Ye would engage in more antics.

Previously Wang Ye performed antics, generally on himself, such as solo battles with fighter jets, or nuclear Body Tempering.

Moreover, such antics have a distinctive feature: they are especially ruthless.

Ruthless enough to not spare even himself.

Now, however, Wang Ye was about to turn his efforts towards the astronauts.

Old Yi sighed lightly.

It seems these three astronauts are in for a tough time.

In the following half-day, Wang Ye offered some guidance to the technical staff.

Using the knowledge he currently possesses, he made detailed improvements to the rocket.

These groundbreaking modifications earned continuous praise from all technical personnel.

Generally, to overcome Earth’s gravity and reach the Moon, based on intricate calculations by scientists from ancient days to present, a rocket must exceed the second Cosmic velocity at liftoff. That is, 11.2 kilometers per second, roughly equivalent to Mach 33. In reality, Moon missions typically don’t require surpassing the second Cosmic velocity because rockets usually undergo phased accelerations due to multi-stage rockets, thus initial velocity only needs to be 10.9 kilometers per second, with acceleration ranging from approximately 3-4G, within human endurance.

With improvements from these technical personnel, this velocity further reduced to 9.8 kilometers per second. Initially thinking this was the limit of possible improvements, Wang Ye continued with structural modifications, further lowering velocity to 9.2 kilometers per second, nearly achieving the first Cosmic velocity. This seemed almost unbelievable since Cosmic velocity calculations are based on Earth’s gravitational field and escape velocity with minimal resistance concern, hence reducing the minimum velocity required to break Earth’s gravitational field is extremely challenging.

Ordinarily, the first Cosmic velocity refers to the velocity at which an object moves in a circular path near Earth’s surface. The first Cosmic velocity value is usually 7.9 km/s, the minimum satellite launch velocity and maximum orbit speed, due to Earth’s dense atmosphere, spacecraft can’t travel along a circular trajectory nears Earth’s surface. Instead, orbit must occur around 150 km altitude.

The second Cosmic velocity signifies escape velocity, the minimum initial velocity needed to overcome Earth’s gravity. Most manned rockets capable of leaving Earth and navigating through the Cosmos achieve speeds around the second Cosmic velocity. Omitting air resistance or other disturbances, the second Cosmic velocity value typically holds at 11.2 km/s, once the rocket achieves 11.2 km/s, it escapes Earth’s gravity, elevating into solar orbit and never rounds Earth again.

If a planet’s mass is substantial, for example, replacing Earth with a larger planet, escape velocity increases. Correspondingly, replacing Earth with a smaller planet decreases escape velocity. Hence humanity’s continuous ambition to establish a base on the Moon, lifting off from the Moon—considerably smaller—requires significantly low second Cosmic velocity and escape velocity, easing farther Cosmic navigation.

Since once detached from a planet’s gravity, a spacecraft’s velocity hardly deteriorates, due to non-existent air resistance and gravity in space, meaning a slight propulsion force can maintain continuous spacecraft travel.
