Daddy, Come Home For Dinner!
Chapter 1257: Who Are We Guarding Against?
Chapter 1257: Chapter 1257: Who Are We Guarding Against?
The mentors from the Indian team were invited to the adjoining room.
Sharuk was displeased: "Is it necessary to be so cautious of us? We still need to observe the draw."
"You may be guarding against us, but if you really calculate carefully, without any of our people next door, you might want to cheat and bully our students without us knowing." Sharuk said with displeasure.
"Next door they’re drawing to decide which color bowls each team uses. If you’re allowed to observe and know the colors both teams are using, it would defeat the purpose of blind judging." Guo Wenbo said.
Does Sharuk not know this?
This shameless act is intentional.
They really think they can get away with it.
"Besides, we Hua Country people have always been upright, not playing any tricks. In competitions from all fields, it’s always us who suffer from unfair treatment. Any event we host is certain to be fair and just, so what’s there to worry about?"
"Moreover, there is live broadcasting on-site, with designated supervisors monitoring the competition." Guo Wenbo continued, "You needn’t have any extra concerns."
The three from Sharuk’s team had somber faces, and the lean Li Tike’s gaze was wandering.
His slim figure paired with his hooked nose gives off a somewhat sleazy and cunning look.
Alongside Li Tike, there was also an assistant responsible for the team’s logistics.
Li Tike waved his hand and the assistant walked over to his side.
Li Tike bent low to whisper something into the assistant’s ear.
The assistant nodded and was about to leave.
Yet, before he could touch the door, Guo Wenbo stopped him.
"Hey!" Guo Wenbo stopped him and said, "To ensure fairness and prevent any cheating, once inside this room, no one can leave. I’m the same—once in, I won’t go out."
The assistant babbled: "I need to use the restroom."
"There’s a restroom in this room," Guo Wenbo smiled and gestured in a direction.
The assistant rolled his eyes but didn’t persist, glancing back at Li Tike.
Seeing Li Tike nod.
The assistant then turned and entered the restroom.
Once inside, he immediately took out his phone, ready to send a message to their team captain.
However, after sending it, he noticed the send icon kept spinning without successfully sending.
After a while, the assistant realized his phone had no signal!
The assistant paced around the restroom several times, raising his hand to find different angles, different places, different corners, all without signal.
The restroom unfortunately has no windows, only a vent.
At this moment, Guo Wenbo’s annoying voice sounded outside the door: "Are you done? The competition is about to begin."
"Almost!" the assistant replied hastily.
Then hearing Guo Wenbo say, "Oh, I forgot to tell you the restroom has no signal."
Assistant: "..."
The assistant finally opened the door, only to see Guo Wenbo smilingly say, "There’s a signal jammer buried in the restroom."
Assistant: "..."
"You did this to guard against us?" the assistant asked coldly.
"What words are these? It was installed long ago to prevent students from deliberately staying in the restroom to play on their phones and waste time during class," Guo Wenbo explained.
But listening to this, the assistant couldn’t feel this was believable.
"Humph!" the assistant angrily flung a hand as he went out, partly explaining unnecessarily, "If you hadn’t mentioned, I’d never know there’s no signal inside!"
Guo Wenbo just smiled without saying a word.
Regardless of what was said, there’s no using phones in the restroom.
Guo Wenbo thought to himself, grateful for his cleverness in considering so many things.
This signal jammer was definitely prepared for these shameless opponents.
The assistant could only return resentfully and angrily back to Li Tike’s side, whispering a few words to him.
Li Tike also looked at Guo Wenbo with disgust, going on to whisper to Sharuk and Kadidal.
The three nodded, eventually taking no further actions.
Meanwhile, in the practice room next door.
The captain occasionally touched the phone in his pants without receiving any notifications.
"Now, please place your phones on the table." Ye Huasong said.
This is to prevent contestants from looking up recipes on their phones.
Although contestants at this level would never do such a thing.
But this has been a tradition since the International Cooking Competition was established.
Thus even now, it continues to be adhered to.
Everyone turned off their phones, placing them at the front.
"Will representatives from each side please come up for the draw," Ye Huasong added.
Changping’s contestants didn’t know about Guo Wenbo’s arrangements.
Tian Pengpo, as captain, walked over.
The captain of the Indian team also moved to the front of the stage.
Tian Pengpo gestured invitingly, as the challenging team, the Indian team has the priority in the draw.
In such a manner, Tian Pengpo had no choice but to wait for the opponents to choose first, leaving what’s left for himself.
Yet, Tian Pengpo was indifferent.
The color of the dinnerware doesn’t matter.
The Indian team’s captain took out a green token from the box.
The Indian team’s captain was puzzled.
Are they supposed to use green bowls?
The color is too odd.
Moreover, it doesn’t look high-end at all and fails to enhance the dish in any way.
Tian Pengpo took out the remaining token from the box.
It was a yellow token.
The Indian team’s captain saw the color of Tian Pengpo’s token, suddenly relaxed, breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems everyone’s about the same.
Yellow isn’t much better than green.
They both resemble the colors at roadside stalls.
"Return to your cooking stations," Ye Huasong instructed.
The allocation of cooking stations was also impartial.
The practice room was divided into two parts. ℯ
Three cooking stations on the left for Changping contestants, three on the right for the Indian team’s contestants.
As for how to choose among the three stations internally, that’s up to them.
But neither side had any objections, selecting one after inspecting their respective stations.
The Indian team’s contestants received their familiar cooking utensils.
Changping’s contestants did likewise.
Afterward, Changping’s staff brought up the dinnerware for both teams.
The Indian team looked dumbfounded.
It’s neither green nor yellow.
Their dinnerware is black.
And Changping’s side’s dinnerware is white.
They still didn’t know today’s theme.
The Indian team’s captain then said, "Why is it different from the color we just drew?"
"Both sides differ. The token color doesn’t correspond to the dinnerware color; it’s a correlation. Green corresponds to black dinnerware, yellow corresponds to white dinnerware." Ye Huasong explained without changing facial expression.
"This is a double measure to prevent any leaks about the contestants’ dinnerware color beforehand." Ye Huasong explained.
Guard against whom?
Certainly against the Indian team judges.
