Daddy Always Gets Jealous
Chapter 2181 - 285: Sounding the East and Moving the West
Huo Jinnan glanced at Jin Bo.
Did that even need to be said?
Huo Bei looked at Jin Bo. "Go see him now?"
Jin Bo shook his head. "Still not sure."
He picked up his phone, glanced at the screen—sure enough, it was Zhou Chuan. Standing in the living room, he called back.
Zhou Chuan had just arrived at the hotel, showered, and was upstairs getting a massage.
Hearing the phone ring, "Give me the phone."
The masseur working on his back stopped and handed the phone to Zhou Chuan.
Seeing it was Jin Bo, Zhou Chuan answered. "Xiao Dong, I’ve arrived in Hong Kong. I just called you, no one picked up. You finally have some free time?"
Jin Bo’s voice was low and icy with a magnetic chill. "Something came up just now, I was busy."
Zhou Chuan drew out a long "oh." "Xiao Dong, when you have time, come over to where I’m staying and sit for a bit. Let’s have a proper talk."
Zhou Chuan had just arrived in Hong Kong and checked into the hotel. If there really was some kind of conspiracy, then someone must have made arrangements in Hong Kong in advance.
Thinking of this, Ji Bo said quietly, "I can come now, is it convenient?"
Zhou Chuan was quite surprised. "I’m in the middle of a massage."
Jin Bo said, "No matter, I can wait."
Zhou Chuan paused. "All right, come then. I’m in the presidential suite 1802 at the Hong Kong Gold Hotel."
Jin Bo, "Okay."
Zhou Chuan wanted to say something more, but the call had already been cut off.
He shook his head and looked at the masseur. "Wipe the oil off my back."
The masseur looked at Zhou Chuan. They had barely started, not even halfway through—
But since the guest had spoken, and given his special status, the masseur couldn’t say much, so he took a clean towel and wiped down Zhou Chuan’s back.
Zhou Chuan sat there and made a call. "Jin Bo is coming to see me tonight. Make sure you control the timing."
Hearing the confirmation from the other end, his mood grew somewhat heavy.
At his age, just taking a plane left his back aching. His body really wasn’t what it used to be. Might as well go into the ground early.
This era is destined to belong to the young.
Only, he still hadn’t had time to go see Xiaotong.
When the masseur finished wiping, he put his clothes back on and said in a low voice, "Make the arrangements. Don’t alert anyone. I’m going to take a look at Xiaotong."
The man said, "Okay."
Zhou Chuan hesitated. "Xiaotong is your half brother too, after all. Bury him properly."
The man said, "Got it, Dad. But why is Dad saying this?"
Zhou Chuan said nothing more, hung up, and returned to his room.
In less than half an hour, his phone rang.
He went downstairs and saw the car that had come to pick him up.
Getting in, he sat in the back seat, his breathing growing heavier with each breath.
After sitting with his eyes closed for a while, he looked out at the night through the car window.
The night was unusually dark, black like ink, thick and unbroken, as if it was about to swallow all light.
...
He didn’t know how long had passed before they finally arrived.
When he felt the car stop, he got out, each step he took unusually heavy.
He thought of Xiaotong’s mother, of when he had first married her. Back then, he had neither status nor money, but the two of them had real feelings for each other, very much in love—
Up until Xiaotong was born, life had been poor, but still beautiful.
Looking back now, those were probably the happiest days of his life.
Thinking that, before he knew it he had already entered the mortuary at the Public Security Bureau. His whole body suddenly felt a bit cold, and the faint warmth in his chest slowly turned icy.
Someone opened the door and led him inside.
Standing there, looking at the white sheet covering the body, Zhou Chuan’s hand suddenly began to tremble violently. He had no strength to lift it.
