Chapter 267 - Taught Him A Lesson
Khal frowned when he heard the guard suddenly change the prize, but soon smiled and asked, "Is that so?"
"Yeah, I am really sorry. The price used to be a thousand, but it was increased to two thousand Gold Coins. I hope you can understand this, kid." the guard grinned widely, obviously trying to scam Khal into paying more than the original fee.
"I see, then I guess I have no choice." Khal sighed and lowered his hand as though he was ready to take out more money.
The guard's smile seeing this widened even more.
'Haha! What a fool! To think earning money would be this ea-"
BAM!
The guard felt extremely happy, but just as he was about to finish his line of thought, a sudden force pierced his chest before his entire body was blasted away like a cannonball, causing the entire armor to be destroyed into thousands of pieces if not more!
BOOM!
."Bleargh!"
Exploding into the side of a building with a force that broke several ribs upon impact, the guard fell on his knees while blood began to gush out of his mouth like a fountain.
"Y-You... How... Dare you!" the guard gritted his teeth together firmly before he raised his gaze at Khal with anger.
However, the moment his eyes met with Khal's, his whole being turned stiff, almost as though he was just frozen motionless.
"Oh, my lord... How can this be even possible?" the guard felt cold sweat soak his back while his body began to tremble unconsciously.
Right now, Khal was emitting a powerful presence that the guard has never seen nor felt ever before.
Though, it was not a surprise at all as the guard lived his almost entire life next to the Teleportation Array as he was only on the Fifth Cultivation Stage, three whole stages below Khal!
Thus, if Khal wanted to, he could have easily crushed the guard with a simple flick of his finger, and that is why the guard was so scared as he offended someone he shouldn't have.
While the guard remained still on the ground with a pale face, suddenly a loud voice came from the side.
"Who dares to cause a ruckus here?"
A man wearing ocean blue armor appeared on the side together with several silver armored guards, his gaze firm as he looked at Khal before averting his gaze at the guard that was punched away a moment ago.
Seeing the pathetic shape and look of one of his men, the man frowned and asked deeply, "What is happening here?"
"S-Sir! I-" the guard was about to speak, but the man in the blue armor raised his hand and shook his head.
"I didn't ask you. You can explain everything by yourself soon, but not yet."
The guard immediately shut his mouth and remained silent, while the man nodded and fixed his gaze at Khal.
"So? Wish to tell me why did you attack one of my men? I hope you know if you don't give me a proper answer, I can behead you right here and now?"
And soon, the man released his cultivation base, filling the surroundings with an invisible force that was no weaker than Khal's, maybe even stronger than his!
'Peak Divine Cultivator? Interesting.' Khal smiled calmly before he shrugged and said, "I just wished to use the Teleportation Array, but when he told me I should pay two thousand Gold Coins, which is more than two folds of the original price, so I decided to teach him a lesson. Next time at least he won't try to trick people and risk his life by offending someone he shouldn't."
The guards and the spectators around were left speechless once Khal finished talking, feeling as though they were just hallucinating.
Although what he said was true, that two thousand Gold Coins were more than twice as much as it initially would be, it didn't mean he should go and beat the guard up!
Khal was, of course, well aware of this, but he didn't care at all. Just who knows how many people did this guard trick and scam during his life, thus why he decided to teach him a little lesson that wasn't even that severe.
Rather, he should feel grateful for him that the one he tried to trick was him as if it would have been any other powerful cultivator with a much worst temper, that guy would be dead a long time ago if not crippled for sure!
Khal remained silent after telling the man, who stood not far away from him with a deep and troubled frown, the truth, and waited patiently.
Sometime later, the man glanced at the guard among the debris, and with a low voice that carried an invisible force that could squeeze one's heart, asked, "Is this true?"
The guard feeling a suffocating presence descend onto his body began to sweat profusely and couldn't do anything else but nod.
"Y-Yes... I-It is indeed... True..."
"What?"
Many around the guard looked dumbfounded, not expecting that one of their companions, who they trusted before, was such a despicable being.
"So that is why he was always inviting us for meals every night! To think he was such a shameless man!"
"I can hardly believe I was a friend with someone like him. Ptui!"
"Yeah, me too. I am ashamed of myself for just knowing him!"
Several guards and cultivators looked sickened and angry, all expressing their disgust by spitting, cursing, or sneering coldly at the guard, who already lowered his head in embarrassment and guilt.
"I see, so that is how it is. What a shame..." the man in blue armor nodded and after shaking his head helplessly he turned to look at Khal and bowed deeply, his body no longer emitting his aura.
"It was my fault for not noticing such a severe and wicked behavior, which not only puts disgrace on my name, but also on the entire Seashell City's reputation! I hope you can forgive me and him, and let us compensate you with something in exchange."
Khal hearing this couldn't help but smile slightly before turning serious once again and asking, "Sure. And how do you exactly plan to do so?"
