Chapter 501

Ripples (VIII)

... alright, is this the first time where one of the rewards didn't include any points? I mean, not that I'm complaining (too much). Points I've got, whatever the hell the system is giving me... I for sure do not. Plus, I've yet to spend that delicious 5,000 to upgrade my lovely method.

Each reward seemed to be a bombshell all on its own, though they all did seem largely geared toward alchemy. In fairness, Lao Shun has earned them, and most would go to him, as I had no other alchemy disciple.

While they seemed to still be stabilizing or doing some finishing touches, I quickly went over the individual items to read about them in greater detail.

[Immortal Pill (Genesis) -- the legend goes that the First Emperor of Mankind fell in love with a mortal woman; she had no roots to cultivate, no means of extending her life, and she was waging. Desperate, he scoured the ends of the world searching for a way until eventually procuring the Immortal Pill. Nobody knew where he got the recipe from, and he never said, but when the alchemists concocted the pill, Dao Sang. The mortal woman consumed the pill and is said to have outlived even the Emperor himself...]

[Note: main alchemist in charge of the concoction must at least be of World-Gathering Rank]

[List of necessary materials: Sundew Orb x1, Immortal Grass x10, Divine-tier Spirit Core x1, Undying Thatch x50...]

[Effect: though the pill does not grant an eternal life in a true sense, it does extend the mortal's lifespan by 20,000,000,000 years. Note that the mortal can still die from ailments, diseases, poisons, or wounds]

[Secondary Note: recipe can at most be used once. The number of pills and their quality will depend entirely on who is concocting them. Once the concoction is finished, whether successful or not, everyone involved--including Host--will forget the recipe's contents]

Wow.

Holy shit.

Did that thing just say twenty-billion-fucking-years of lifespan?!! Holy goddamn. I freaked out when I learned mine was in tens of thousands due to the Tortoise Physique, but isn't this shit absolutely insane?! Technically, the person would be able to live for longer than the universe existed back before I got shuffled from Earth to here.

To be fair, it needed precisely 99 materials, and none of them sounded either cheap or easy to find. In fact, it might be literally impossible to concoct, but... well, we'll see.

There really was only one person that could even use it right now--Rayce. Though he was a Shaman, and a majorly talented one, he was still a mortal. There was that life-extending pill sitting in my inventory for god knows how long now, but it would 'only' add twenty years or so, from what I remember. Even if I'm under no illusion that at least some of the kids won't die one day, I've long since decided to embody the simple parental mantra: you can die, sure, but not before me.

As such, if there was a way, I would have Lao Shun concoct it, no matter what.

[Voidfire (???) -- fire said to have been made in the early epochs, where spatial storms ravaged the world and living was practically a curse. Unlike most other Alchemist Flames that add energy to generate heat and thus slowly burn away impurities, Voidfire is different; it burns existence rather than substance. Where it burned, the unnecessary ceased to be. Its purification capabilities are second-to-none, with no other Alchemist Flame coming anywhere close; however, due to its nature, the delicate balance must be maintained perfectly, lest all materials within the cauldron be consumed in a spatial tear]

[Minimum Alchemist Rank to use: Tri-Aspects Rank]

Alright.

So, we're just outright fucking with reality at this point.

I've noticed that Lao Shun had used at least three different 'kinds' of fire, so it probably means that the alchemist hunted down specialized kinds of flames, and this one perfectly fits the bill. I'll share it, though whether he'll use it... I actually have my doubts.

[Host has unlocked new System Function: Ingredient Synthesis]

[...]

[Can combine a variety of base materials and use CP to synthesize them]

[Can completely circumvent usage of base materials and use purely CP to synthesize materials that otherwise might not exist]

[Note that the second option will consume an inordinate amount of Creation Points as it alters the nature of existence itself]

[A frame of reference]

[One of the materials required to concoct the Immortal Pill is the Moonstalk Illusion Flower. Though the flower is not extinct, getting it might be impossible by the time Host is strong enough. Synthesizing it using simpler but similar materials would cost anywhere between 80,000 and 500,000 CP, while synthesizing it purely through CP will consume 10,000,000CP]

And here I thought having 30,000 points made me rich.

Hah.

Cute.

More and more I'm starting to realize that this 'Creator System' has a lot of point sinks that have nothing to do with art creation. I'm not gonna say no to something that's clearly beyond broken; however, realistically, how many times am I gonna use it? For materials that are readily available, I'd just be wasting points. For things that are difficult to obtain, it'd probably still be easier to actually obtain them. And for those impossible ones... will I even be able to afford more than a few?

Once I make my sect, maybe, and have millions of Disciples all farming points for me 24/7.

Ah, wouldn't that be a life?

[Portable Alchemy Chamber -- contains a space of about eighty square feet alongside the necessary tools. Must be built on an open surface matching its size, as it does not have any size-compression arrays outside of the minimizing form. Tools within are replaceable, both manually and through using CP]

Right, another point sink. Of course. It's like the system saw me hoard a bit at last and was like, 'Yeah, here are all the places you will be spending it on'.

I skipped the Enduring Salvation portion for the time being and focused on the last reward, which intrigued me the most since I couldn't really deduce precisely what it was from its name.

[Codex of Unending Knowledge (???) (Transcription) -- contains detailed knowledge of ALL herbs, stones, cores, and jewels below the '???' tier. Must be used on a Disciple]

Huh. That's... kind of cool? I think? Kind of sucks that I don't really have a frame of reference for it, so I'll just wait and see how shocked Lao Shun gets.

And, lastly...

[Enduring Salvation]

[Type: Cultivation Method]

[Parent Method: Enduring Eternity]

[Rank: peak-Myth]

[Host Comprehension: Minor]

[...]

[Enduring Salvation builds on top of its parent method, prioritizing stability while expanding on the utilities. One must be at least a Heart-Rank Alchemist to cultivate using it, with the greater alchemy ranks granting additional benefits. Every time an Alchemist concocts a pill, they gain progress in their cultivation and comprehension of their martial arts. The amount is dictated by the recipe difficulty, quality of the concoction process, time taken, pill toxicity, and pill quality. Though the Alchemist can still cultivate normally, the speed of the method is, at best, below-average.]

[Comprehension Difficulty: Transcendent]
