Chapter 2410 The Demon God's Assistance

Chapter 2410  The Demon God’s Assistance

The Supreme Ruler knelt before a crimson altar centered in a pond of blood, kowtowing as he murmured, “O Demon God, creator of this world, your loyal child seeks your enlightenment.”

Moments passed with no response from the altar or the Demon God. Still the Supreme Ruler kept kowtowing. Hours stretched into days, and weeks passed without any sign or answer.

Yet, the Supreme Ruler remained as still as a statue. When trying to communicate with the Demon God, it was normal for the Supreme Ruler to wait for years, even decades. Throughout history the Supreme Rulers attempted contact with the Demon God hundreds—if not thousands—of times, yet the responses were so rare they could be counted on one hand, or even just three fingers.

The only time a Supreme Ruler is guaranteed to hear the Demon God’s voice is during the Succession Ritual where they become the Supreme Ruler, when they receive its guidance and blessing.

After nearly three months of waiting, the Supreme Ruler’s ears twitched at the sound of popping bubbles. The blood pond before him began to boil without warning with countless bubbles forming and bursting.

‘There’s a response?! But what is this? I have never heard of such a reaction before!’ The Supreme Ruler cried inwardly. But despite his curiosity, he did not dare to lift his head or even use divine sense to look at the phenomenon. Soon, the blood pond fell eerily still once more.

A few moments later, a ripple spread across the blood pond, though nothing visible had disturbed it, as if an invisible drop of liquid had fallen into its depths.

At this moment, the Supreme Ruler could not sense or hear anything. In fact, he wasn’t even aware of the ripple that appeared on the surface of the blood pond.

“Speak.”

A voice suddenly commanded.

“?!?!”

At the sound of that voice, which sounded so close it seemed to come from right before him, the Supreme Ruler instinctively began to lift his head, then hastily stopped and bowed even lower.

“…”

The Supreme Ruler was stunned, his thoughts overheating as he wondered if the Demon God had actually manifested before him. If so, it would be unprecedented, as never once in history had the Demon God appeared in person.

“Why aren’t you speaking? You were the one who summoned me,” the Demon God said, his tone faintly annoyed.

“M‑My deepest apologies!” the Supreme Ruler stammered. “I blanked out for a moment, as I never imagined you would appear in person, Demon God! You must be here because you already know of ex-Supreme Ruler Dena’s escape from the Deprived Crimson Valley and have guidance for me!”

However, the Demon God’s response left the Supreme Ruler utterly speechless.

“No, I showed up because I happened to be in the area. As for that child Dena, I couldn’t care less about her situation or how you intend to deal with her.”

“Then…” The Supreme Ruler didn’t know how to respond or if he should even ask the Demon God for its assistance.

The Demon God continued, “That being said, I didn’t come here just to do nothing.”

The next moment, the Supreme Ruler sensed the Demon God’s presence drawing near until it loomed directly before him. Then, he felt something like a drop of blood descended onto the crown of his head, and an unfathomable power instantly surged through his entire body.

“T‑This is—?!” The Supreme Ruler trembled with excitement.

“I have just bestowed you some power. Do what you will with it,” the Demon God said casually before his presence faded away, leaving without any explanation.

Even though the Supreme Ruler could no longer sense the Demon God’s presence, he spent the next several days thanking it nonstop.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the starry sky, the Demon God watched with an amused smile.

“Though I swore never to intervene directly in my own world—even if its people destroyed it—I’ll make an exception this time. Not only did that monster break our agreement, but it wouldn’t be fair to that child to face him without any assistance.”

Once the Supreme Ruler was finished, he immediately entered seclusion to better understand his new powers.

Meanwhile, Yuan and his group were still traveling to the City of Blood.

“Yuan, I’m hungry.” Supreme Ruler Dena suddenly said to him.

“I guess it’s been a while…” Yuan didn’t say anything else and loosened the clothes around his neck. Since there was a good chance they might have to fight the Supreme Ruler, it would be wise to help Supreme Ruler Dena recover as much strength as possible before they arrived.

When she saw Yuan’s smooth, tempting neck, Supreme Ruler Dena couldn’t help but drool inwardly before latching onto his back and biting into his neck like a bloodthirsty fiend.

‘What the hell are they doing?!’

Purple, who had never seen such a scene before, stared in bewilderment at Supreme Ruler Dena sucking on Yuan’s neck with a blissful expression like a baby with a pacifier.

Then the scent of Yuan’s blood reached her, and her mouth instantly began to water.

‘Why does his blood smell so damn good?!’ Purple was shocked to find herself craving a taste of Yuan’s blood even though she’d never liked the taste of demon blood.

Seeing Purple’s expression, Lev shook his head and warned her, “You can forget about it. That blood is reserved for her.”

“Don’t tell me his real identity is being her livestock?” Purple inquired with a weird look on her face. It wasn’t weird for demons to keep livestocks, especially those with power and influence. However, these people usually kept their livestocks at home.

‘But that doesn’t explain why he could bypass the Demon God’s Wrath…’ she thought inwardly.

“Hey, your blood is even more delicious than before,” Supreme Ruler Dena suddenly stopped consuming his blood and remarked.

“Did your seclusion have anything to do with this?” she then asked.

Yuan raised an eyebrow at her comment, wondering if enhancing his regeneration had somehow made his blood taste better to demons. Until now, he’d assumed it was related to the Immortal Monarch’s Bloodline.
