Cultivation: Immunity to Negative Effects
Chapter 388 - 366: Slay Them All
Chapter 388: Chapter 366: Slay Them All
"Nothing is impossible. You only find it impossible because you’re untalented and have never seen a true genius."
"Enough. Now, die!"
In response to the doubts from Yu Wan and the others, Zhang Chi just sneered. He raised a hand, and a vast number of Magical Treasure Flying Swords shot out at once.
One, two...
Soon, one hundred and thirteen flying swords filled the air, each at the Upper Grade Peak.
These flying swords radiated an incredibly sharp aura, their surfaces shimmering with brilliant starlight. With a slight tremor, they transformed into a sky full of dazzling sword light that slashed down toward Yu Wan and her group.
"Is that the legendary Star Sword? Junior Martial Uncle Zhang cultivated the Star Sword Control Technique and the Sword Essence Technique, too? But his realm is just too high... has his Sword Control Technique reached Perfection?"
The assembled cultivators watched, utterly mesmerized. The Profound Yin Sect Leader and the others had been reduced to mere spectators.
With Zhang Chi present, he alone could easily handle the enemy. There was no need for them to intervene at all.
Chen Bufan in particular was awestruck as he watched Zhang Chi’s Sword Control, his eyes wide with admiration.
He had been practicing the very Cultivation Technique and Sword Control Technique Zhang Chi had left behind years ago, which was why his own Cultivation had advanced so rapidly. Still, this was the first time he had ever witnessed the true Star Sword and a Sword Control Technique of such profound mastery.
"This is bad!"
For Yu Wan and the others, however, it was the exact opposite. They were scared out of their wits.
They knew Nascent Soul Late Stage cultivators were powerful, but they had never imagined one could be *this* powerful.
After all, the Sect Leader of the True Demon Sect was also in the Nascent Soul Late Stage, and he hadn’t been able to do anything to them.
Besides, it should be impossible for anyone to control so many Magical Treasures at once. It was simply heaven-defying.
"Everyone, what are you waiting for? Use your trump cards, now! Otherwise, we’re all dead!" At that moment, Yu Wan’s voice rang out via Divine Thought.
Simultaneously, she raised a hand, and a palm-sized, hexagonal ancient mirror of a simple, cyan design flew out.
A powerful ripple immediately spread out, completely nullifying the pressure Zhang Chi had been exerting on them.
Yu Wan’s master and several other nearby Nascent Soul Cultivators quickly channeled their Magical Power into the Ancient Mirror to help activate it.
The Ancient Mirror rapidly expanded, and in the blink of an eye, it had become like a great wall, shielding the cultivators behind it.
SHIIING...
In the next instant, the sword light struck the Ancient Mirror, producing a series of sharp, metallic clangs before being completely reflected.
Although they had blocked the attack, Yu Wan and the other cultivators all coughed up blood on the spot.
Whew!
Even so, the Nascent Soul Cultivators couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief.
At the same time, however, their fear of Zhang Chi intensified.
This Ancient Mirror was actually a Heaven-Reaching Spirit Treasure called the Cyan Cloud Mirror—the guardian Spiritual Treasure of the Cyan Cloud Sect.
It was the very countermeasure they had prepared specifically to defend against Zhang Chi’s Spirit Sword.
Even with all of them powering it together, they couldn’t unleash the Cyan Cloud Mirror’s full Mighty Power, but it was still far superior to any normal Magical Treasure.
Yet now, it could barely block a single one of Zhang Chi’s attacks.
As the reflected sword light flew back at him, Zhang Chi simply waved a hand and brought it under control, completely unharmed.
This proved, without a doubt, that Zhang Chi was far stronger than they had anticipated. He didn’t even need his Spirit Treasure Flying Sword to kill them.
BOOM!
Just then, a massive, hundred-zhang-long White Jade Ruyi appeared—another Heaven-Reaching Spirit Treasure that the other Nascent Souls had taken the opportunity to activate together.
As for ordinary Magical Treasures, these Nascent Soul Cultivators had long since abandoned them.
They all knew that ordinary Magical Treasures were useless against him; even most Pseudo-Spirit Treasures wouldn’t suffice.
More Nascent Soul Cultivators were powering this Jade Ruyi, so its Mighty Power was greater. As the other cultivators watched with anticipation, it struck Zhang Chi with brutal force.
But Zhang Chi’s swarm of flying swords whirled violently around him, instantly forming a protective barrier.
The barrier deflected the vast majority of the attack’s Mighty Power.
When the Jade Ruyi finally struck Zhang Chi himself, he didn’t even flinch, let alone suffer any injury.
At the critical moment, a suit of Black Armor—a Pseudo-Spirit Treasure—materialized around him, blocking the remaining Mighty Power.
"How is this possible? Not even a Spiritual Treasure can harm him?"
"Quick, run for it!"
Yu Wan and the others had expected Zhang Chi to be gravely injured, if not killed. Seeing him completely unscathed, their expressions froze. They immediately unleashed their ultimate Escape Techniques and scattered in every direction.
Unfortunately for them, in the next moment, Zhang Chi’s flying swords vanished. They reappeared dozens of miles away, spread out in different directions. A profound Sword Array instantly took shape, trapping all the Nascent Souls within.
The array completely sealed the space within, preventing the cultivators from even using their Teleportation Talismans.
WHOOSH WHOOSH...
From the distant void, starlight suddenly shone down, and the Sword Array was instantly flooded with resplendent, silver-white Sword Light.
"This is bad!"
One by one, the cultivators were engulfed by the Sword Light. Even Nascent Soul Middle Stage cultivators like Lu Daoyi were no exception.
"Don’t kill us! We were wrong! We surrender!"
Some cultivators’ physical bodies were destroyed on the spot. Their Nascent Souls flew out, desperately broadcasting pleas for mercy with their Divine Thought.
But Zhang Chi only gave a cold sneer and ignored them. He raised a hand and pointed, and instantly, several Nascent Souls were pierced through the brow by beams of Sword Light.
"No, Master, don’t kill me! Wan’Er was wrong! Please spare me, I’ll do anything you ask... *sob*..."
Yu Wan had survived thanks to the protection of her Cyan Cloud Mirror, but this scene terrified her so much she burst into tears. She immediately fell to her knees and began to beg for her life.
"Senior, don’t kill me! I’m willing to give you all the remaining Celestial Corpse Coffins."
The former Celestial Corpse Sect Leader was also still alive, surrounded by flying black coffins that were struggling to fend off the Sword Light.
"Zhang Chi, I am your master! You can’t kill me! To do so would be to betray your master and your lineage!"
Lu Daoyi, now just a Nascent Soul, screamed in despair.
"Senior, I was wrong! I’m willing to give you the entire Ten Thousand Treasures Tower!"
"Fellow Daoist Zhang, I have already calculated that if you kill us, the Great Abyss will be finished, so..."
The Ten Thousand Treasures Tower Master and Celestial Star True Monarch, also reduced to mere Nascent Souls, broadcast their own desperate cries via Divine Thought.
The difference was that the former was begging for mercy, while the latter was attempting to morally blackmail Zhang Chi with the so-called "greater good."
"I think you’d all be better off dead. As for the Great Abyss... even if it falls because of this, that’s your fault. What does it have to do with me?"
But Zhang Chi couldn’t care less. He continued to power the Sword Array, and more Nascent Souls were instantly slain.
"Damn you, Zhang Chi! We’ll take you down with us!"
The Nascent Soul Cultivators finally despaired. The old woman from the Cyan Cloud Sect roared, preparing to self-destruct to take Zhang Chi down with her.
SWOOSH!
But before she could act, a beam of Sword Light pierced through her skull. She died on the spot, her eyes wide with disbelief and regret.
In her final moments, she was filled with immense regret—regret that she hadn’t killed Zhang Chi all those years ago.
Of course, she had no way of knowing that she hadn’t actually failed. She had, in fact, successfully murdered the original Zhang Chi.
"Master, no—!"
Yu Wan screamed at the sight, but before the word was even out of her mouth, she too was struck by Sword Light. Her body was torn to pieces, her face a mask of terror and regret as she followed her master in death.
The Cyan Cloud Mirror was still near her, but it was completely unable to block the Sword Light.
For one, the Sword Light was simply too fast.
For another, even though the Cyan Cloud Mirror was a Spiritual Treasure, Yu Wan couldn’t possibly activate its full power on her own.
Lu Daoyi was next. A beam of Sword Light pierced his brow without the slightest suspense. He hadn’t even had time to mount an effective defense.
In his last moments, he too was filled with immense regret, but it was far too late.
In truth, he could have survived. In fact, he’d been dealt a very good hand from the start.
Zhang Chi had even given him a chance before this battle began.
But he had insisted on siding with Yu Wan’s faction. Since he had chosen the path of death, Zhang Chi was more than willing to oblige.
As for their master-disciple relationship, Zhang Chi couldn’t care less. Lu Daoyi had never once fulfilled his duties as a master.
Next were the Ten Thousand Treasures Tower Master, the former Celestial Corpse Sect Leader, and Celestial Star True Monarch. All were slain by the Sword Light, their hearts filled with terror and indignation, powerless to resist.
Like the Cyan Cloud Mirror, even the Celestial Corpse Coffins were powerless against the incomparably sharp Sword Light, which exploited every possible opening.
In fact, the only reason those Nascent Soul Cultivators had been able to use their Spiritual Treasures at all was a combination of their swift reactions and sheer luck.
Otherwise, they would never have even had the chance.
To the spectating cultivators, the sky simply filled with a blinding flash of Sword Light. When it dissipated, they looked again and saw that every single one of the enemy Nascent Soul Cultivators had been slain.
