Chapter 354: Chapter 188: Lingxiao City, the Bloodfall Plan

Without the tempering of time, one’s mental state is often the most difficult aspect to improve.

If one’s spirit was broken by an opponent in battle, it could very well lead to complete annihilation!

‘So that’s how it is. Some great powers roam the mortal world not because they’re truly bored and just looking for fun, but to experience the hearts of mortals and the will of heaven. They enter the mortal realm, feel the seven emotions and six desires, and temper themselves in the crucible of worldly life…’

A flicker of understanding dawned on Gu Yun, and his mental state improved once more.

Though it wasn’t a qualitative leap or a major breakthrough, it was an unexpected gain, and Gu Yun was content. After all, the mind is exceedingly profound and abhors being rushed. As the Daoist principle goes: follow nature, act through inaction. Gu Yun closed his eyes in his pavilion room, meditating to digest the insights from his journey.

Suddenly, Gu Yun frowned.

His Divine Sense detected the explosions from a battle between True Martial Realm Cultivators just outside Lingxiao City.

‘It’s said that to attract traveling Cultivators for trade, Lingxiao City—the most prosperous city in the Sea Continent—strictly forbids fighting not only within its walls but also in a thousand-li radius outside. Yet these combatants are completely disregarding its laws. How interesting.’

If that were all, he might have ignored it. But Gu Yun also sensed an aura among them—one he wished he could utterly annihilate.

‘Why would they be near Lingxiao City?’ A flicker of doubt crossed Gu Yun’s mind.

His Divine Sense instantly enveloped the scene.

…

“Wu Tai!”

“Your Wu Family is so audacious! To consort with Demon Fiends, to collude with them! You’re a disgrace to the Human Race!!”

“Are you not afraid that the great powers of the Human Race will utterly exterminate you as a warning to others?!”

An incredulous voice, seething with a rage so intense it felt as if it could devour a man whole, echoed through the mountain forest five hundred li outside Lingxiao City.

Immediately after,

BOOM! BOOM!

In the lush forest with its towering peaks, two incredibly powerful auras of True Yuan shattered the air. They whistled as they shot through the sky, creating a blast of Powerful Qi as they violently collided.

In that instant, the surrounding space trembled violently. Within a radius of several thousand zhang, ancient, towering trees snapped and collapsed. Mountainsides crumbled, and massive boulders caught in the shockwave were pulverized into dust.

A cloud of dust and debris billowed into the air, staining the sky a pale yellow for dozens of li in every direction.

BANG!

Amidst the powerful shockwaves of the battle, a figure was sent flying back like a cannonball. His feet slammed into the ground, tearing through the soil as if it were tofu and carving a deep trench dozens of zhang long!

“Du Yao, spare me your little tricks.”

“I set up a sound-dampening Array in this area long ago to ambush you. Even if you scream your lungs out, no one will hear a thing.”

“Besides, this Array keeps ordinary people from wandering in. And if some idiot who doesn’t know their place actually stumbles upon us, I don’t mind getting rid of them too!”

At that moment, a young man hovering in the air behind him spoke with cruel viciousness. He had a sturdy build, sharp eyes, and an ordinary face, and was dressed in a black Profound Robe.

If anyone else were present, they would have recognized this young man with his sturdy build and terrifying True Yuan aura as none other than Wu Tai of the Wu Family—one of the “Lingxiao Twin Stars,” a prodigy of Lingxiao City’s younger generation!

As for the man on the ground opposite him, he was clad in a tattered, pale-blue robe, his resolute face streaked with blood. This was the most outstanding genius of the Du Family—one of Lingxiao City’s two great clans. Though not yet fifty years old, his cultivation had already reached the True Martial Realm Seventh Layer!

Lingxiao City was primarily controlled by three major powers. First was the City Lord’s Mansion, which represented the Celestial Refining Demon Sect, a titan of the Sea Continent.

The other two were the great Tongxuan Clans: the Wu Family and the Du Family!

Ordinarily, these three powers presented a united front to the outside world, managing Lingxiao City together on the surface. Their combined strength was formidable, enough to deter any troublemakers.

However, the two great clans had always been at odds, feuding both openly and in secret for years. But when faced with an external crisis, they would follow the lead of the City Lord’s Mansion—and by extension, the Celestial Refining Demon Sect—prioritizing the interests of Lingxiao City as a whole. It was rare for their conflicts to break out into open, irreconcilable hostility.

Recently, however, the years of conflict between the two clans had finally erupted. Though they didn’t dare act too brazenly under the watchful eye of the City Lord’s Mansion, intense clashes had become unavoidable.

“Wu Tai, if the Holy Sect finds out about your Wu Family’s collusion with Demon Fiends…”

“How could you possibly withstand the Holy Sect’s wrath?”

“What will await you is the annihilation of your entire clan, down to the ninth generation!”

Du Yao stood within the fissure he had carved into the earth, one hand pressed to his chest. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he roared.

The Celestial Refining Demon Sect was a Demon Dao power that followed the law of the jungle: the weak are culled, and only the fittest survive.

Though their principles were different, they were still part of the Human Race!

They held immense influence in the Southern Wilderness Sea Continent, and the locals respectfully referred to them as the Holy Sect.

At these words, a flicker of apprehension crossed Wu Tai’s eyes,

but he quickly snarled, “And that’s exactly why you have to die!”

“Only when you’re dead can my Wu Family rest easy.”

“You brought this on yourself for daring to meddle in the Wu Family’s secrets. If you’re not the one to die, who is?!”

A sharp glint flashed in Du Yao’s eyes.

His voice was low and laced with fury. “Wu Tai, the injury to my Du Family’s Old Ancestor… that was your Wu Family’s doing, wasn’t it?”

“That Great Demon Fiend of the Tongxuan Realm… you, the Wu Family, lured it here to deal with our Old Ancestor!”

“Is your Wu Family planning to completely betray the Human Race?!”

Killing intent flared in Wu Tai’s eyes.

‘I can’t believe he knows so much.’

“You don’t need to know!” Wu Tai’s voice was bone-chilling. “Now, die!”
