Cultivating in Reverse: My Sign-In System Wants Me Dead
Chapter 306 - A Dangerous Remedy and Stirring Roots
Chapter 306: Chapter 306 - A Dangerous Remedy and Stirring Roots
By the time the visitors reached the Main Peak, Clear Cloud Peak had become unusually quiet.
Lu Canghai paced outside Su Bai’s hut for the fifth time.
He had already entered twice.
Both times, Su Bai had assured him that the pain was easing and asked to be left alone while he examined what the blessing had done.
Lu Canghai had agreed.
His feet apparently had not.
He turned around again and walked back toward the door.
Inside the hut, Su Bai was seated cross-legged on his bed.
The worst of the pain had finally passed.
Lian Qingyue’s blessing was still circulating through his body, and every trace of vitality it released continued becoming harmful the moment his Reversal responded to it.
The effect was far weaker than the first violent surge, although enough remained to make his meridians ache whenever another wave passed through them.
His Myriad-Calamity Vajra Body had begun helping as well.
The blessing itself was not a physical attack, but the damage it produced inside him repeatedly affected the same tissues and pathways.
His body responded to that recurring harm in the same gradual manner it had shown before, adjusting to the damage instead of somehow erasing the source.
Su Bai could feel the difference.
Each new wave still hurt.
It simply hurt a little less than the one before.
He exhaled slowly.
’A Void-Shattering blessing is terrifying.’
Lian Qingyue had sincerely tried to help him.
That somehow made the situation more troublesome.
If she had bad intentions, he could at least complain properly.
Instead, she had given him seven days of enhanced vitality and recovery with perfectly good intentions.
For anyone else, that would have been an excellent gift.
For him, it was beginning to look like seven days of carefully measured torture.
Su Bai rubbed his forehead.
Perhaps keeping a little distance from the Glass-Lotus Holy See would be wise until he found a better solution.
His body could gradually adapt to the damage, but waiting seven full days for the blessing to fade was unnecessary if he had another way to interfere with it.
His attention entered the Immortal storage ring.
The sealed containers of Immortal Stones remained exactly where he had left them.
Su Bai hesitated.
He had avoided touching them from the moment he discovered what they might contain.
The energy inside those stones was far denser and purer than ordinary spiritual energy. He still could not say with absolute certainty that it was true Immortal Qi, but everything he had seen suggested that possibility.
For a normal cultivator, absorbing it prematurely would be extremely dangerous.
Their meridians and Dantian were built around ordinary Qi. Introducing energy of a much higher quality could overwhelm those structures before the cultivator had any chance to refine it, causing anything from torn meridians to an unstable Dantian.
Su Bai understood all of that.
Unfortunately, dangerous energy had a habit of behaving differently once it entered his body.
He opened his eyes.
An Immortal Stone appeared in his hand.
...
Outside the hut, Lu Canghai stopped walking.
His head snapped toward the door.
A pressure unlike ordinary spiritual energy had appeared for the briefest instant.
It was extraordinarily dense.
His expression changed.
Clouds rolled across Clear Cloud Peak.
They gathered silently around the hut and spread over the surrounding mountain until every trace of the unfamiliar energy was sealed inside.
Lu Canghai stared at the closed door.
"What is that brat doing now?"
He resisted the urge to enter.
Barely.
...
Inside, Su Bai studied the Immortal Stone in his palm.
The energy contained within it felt fundamentally different from even the Highest-Grade Spirit Stones he had handled before. A single small portion carried enough density to make his instincts warn him against carelessness.
That was exactly why he started with almost nothing.
Su Bai drew out only a thread.
The amount was so small that an ordinary cultivator might have considered it meaningless.
But the moment it entered his meridians, Su Bai realized how wrong that assumption would have been.
His entire body trembled.
The energy was overwhelming.
It pressed against his meridians with such density his own Qi simply did not possess. Even that tiny thread felt as though something far larger had been forced into a pathway that was never designed to contain it.
For an ordinary Golden Core cultivator, the next moment might have been disastrous.
That’s when Su Bai’s Reversal Body responded.
The harmful pressure changed.
What should have torn through his meridians began nourishing them instead.
Su Bai’s eyes widened.
A strange clarity washed through his mind while the energy traveled deeper into his body. The sensation was difficult to compare with ordinary cultivation. Every trace of it seemed impossibly concentrated, carrying more substance than the spiritual energy he was accustomed to handling.
A faint feeling of euphoria followed.
Su Bai didn’t draw any more immortal qi.
He had taken only the smallest fraction from the stone, and that was already enough.
He returned the Immortal Stone to its sealed storage before curiosity could become stupidity.
The energy already inside him required his full attention.
Su Bai closed his eyes and began circulating his cultivation method carefully.
The transformed effect moved through his meridians.
Where the lingering golden vitality from Lian Qingyue’s blessing remained attached to his pathways, the higher-quality energy passed through it and began disrupting its hold.
Su Bai watched closely.
The blessing was not simply disappearing.
Its lingering energy was being broken apart and drawn into the circulation created by his own body.
Under the influence of Reversal, the dangerous Immortal energy continued changing as well, losing the portions his current cultivation could not safely endure while leaving behind something his meridians could actually accept.
Su Bai did not mistake that for possessing Immortal Qi.
His own Qi had not suddenly transformed.
He was simply extracting benefit from something that should have injured him.
That difference mattered.
The converted energy entered his Infinite Dantian first.
His Black-Ice Golden Core trembled faintly.
The nine Gateway Dantians responded a moment later, and the Myriad-Path Meridian Web carried the refined traces between all ten cultivation centers without requiring Su Bai to force them individually.
The lingering pain from the blessing continued fading.
Su Bai relaxed slightly.
At least he would not need to spend the next seven days hiding from good intentions.
He continued guiding the tiny amount of energy through his body.
The Infinite Dantian accepted it.
The Gateway Dantians did as well.
Nothing appeared unstable.
Su Bai was preparing to finish the circulation when something inside the first Gateway Dantian moved.
His attention immediately shifted.
At the center of the Dantian, the dormant Root Seed trembled.
Su Bai became completely still.
A second reaction followed.
Another Root Seed stirred, then another.
Across all nine Gateway Dantians, the seeds that had remained silent ever since their appearance began responding to the traces of transformed Immortal energy moving through the Myriad-Path Meridian Web.
Su Bai stared inwardly at them.
For the first time, the nine dormant Root Seeds showed signs of waking.
