Chapter 292: Chapter 292 - A Hidden Trap and the Final Seal

The demonic cultivators had finally lost patience.

Five attacks descended on Li Xuanzong almost simultaneously.

Dark spiritual energy flooded the heavens from one direction while a crimson blade light cut across another. A massive spectral palm fell from above, accompanied by two attacks that twisted through the surrounding space from opposite sides.

The combined pressure shattered the cloud layer around them.

Li Xuanzong moved.

Su Bai’s expression changed almost immediately.

There was nothing explosive about the Sect Master’s movement.

He did not tear through the attacks with overwhelming force, nor did he retreat fast enough to leave behind dozens of afterimages.

He simply stepped into the spaces between them.

A crimson blade passed beside his shoulder with barely enough distance to avoid his robe.

The spectral palm descended, but Li Xuanzong shifted half a step before its pressure fully locked onto him.

One of the attacks coming from behind curved toward his back.

Li Xuanzong tilted his body, allowing it to pass across his side before continuing forward.

Everything happened within fractions of a breath.

Yet none of his movements looked hurried.

Su Bai stared.

Li Xuanzong was not merely dodging.

He was reading all five of them.

Each time an attack forced him to move, he chose a direction that altered the enemies’ positions around him.

One demonic cultivator had to shift sideways to avoid blocking another.

A second was forced higher because his companion’s technique had occupied the space beneath him.

The formation surrounding Li Xuanzong began stretching apart.

They attacked again.

Li Xuanzong still did not counterattack.

He slipped between them as though the five cultivators had unknowingly left paths specifically for him.

An enormous black spear swept toward his chest.

He turned just enough for the tip to miss.

The spear continued past him.

The cultivator on the opposite side immediately abandoned his technique to avoid being struck by his own ally.

Li Xuanzong had already moved elsewhere.

Lu Canghai watched from beside the formation and chuckled.

"They still haven’t realized."

Su Bai looked toward him.

"Master?"

"Old Li isn’t trying to escape."

Su Bai returned his attention to the battle.

A moment later, he understood.

Li Xuanzong’s movement was not random.

The battlefield had gradually shifted.

It was subtle enough that the five demonic cultivators probably believed they were driving him backward.

Every time they tightened the encirclement, Li Xuanzong yielded just enough ground to encourage them.

Every time they tried to spread out, he moved toward whichever cultivator forced the others to follow.

The entire battle was moving toward Radiant Sky Sect.

More precisely, it was moving toward the outer range of the Sect-Scale Formation.

Su Bai’s eyes narrowed.

Li Xuanzong had left before the formation was completed.

He had no way of knowing exactly when the last circulation routes would be finished.

Yet he was still bringing five enemies toward it.

That confidence was almost unreasonable.

Lu Canghai seemed to understand what Su Bai was thinking.

"He trusts us to finish."

Huo Yan’s voice came from nearby.

"Then stop watching and help me make sure his trust doesn’t get him killed."

Everyone immediately became busier.

The final construction accelerated.

Jian Wushuang personally stabilized one command node while several formation elders connected the last sections beneath the outer mountains.

Lu Canghai moved toward another circulation route and poured his Qi into it, forcing the connection to stabilize far faster than the formation elders could have managed alone.

Su Bai joined them again.

The battle continued in the distance.

Each collision sent faint tremors through the surrounding spiritual energy.

The five demonic cultivators were becoming more aggressive.

Li Xuanzong remained almost offensively calm.

He had yet to launch a genuine attack.

His robe had not even been damaged.

The most infuriating part was probably that his expression still had not changed.

One of the demonic cultivators roared something.

Li Xuanzong responded by moving three feet to the side and allowing another attack to miss him.

Su Bai could practically feel the man’s anger from here.

The Sect Master had somehow turned surviving five Void-Shattering cultivators into an insult.

Another circulation route connected beneath Su Bai’s feet.

He checked the progress around him.

They were close.

Very close.

At this point, Su Bai’s presence was no longer necessary again. Huo Yan knew exactly which connections remained, and Jian Wushuang could stabilize the final surge once all of them were joined.

Su Bai hesitated before stepping away.

His eyes shifted toward the battle.

Even if the formation activated successfully, five Void-Shattering enemies were still five Void-Shattering enemies.

He was only a Golden Core cultivator.

Charging into that battlefield would accomplish nothing except giving everyone another person to protect.

However, there was still one thing he could do.

Su Bai sat down directly on the ground.

Lu Canghai noticed him.

"My Disciple?"

"I won’t interfere with the formation."

That did not answer the question, but Su Bai had already taken out the large Immortal storage ring.

Lu Canghai’s eyebrows rose.

Su Bai ignored him.

Ninety-nine percent of the restriction was already gone.

He had stopped at the final portion because the Dark Mark reacted.

If there was anything useful inside, this was the best possible time to find it.

Su Bai settled his spiritual sense around the ring.

The noise of construction faded.

The distant tremors from the battle became background rhythm.

Only the final restriction remained.

He traced the first surviving line.

Nothing moved incorrectly.

He continued.

The last structure was much more delicate than the layers he had already dismantled, but after spending nearly two days studying the restriction, he understood how its parts relied on one another.

He did not rush.

Another violent collision echoed from the horizon.

Su Bai removed one connection.

The formation beneath the mountains continued nearing completion.

He loosened another.

Far away, Li Xuanzong slipped through another combined attack and quietly guided his enemies closer.

The threads around the storage space grew thinner.

Su Bai’s breathing became increasingly steady.

One final line remained.

He studied it several times before allowing his spiritual sense to touch the exact point he had chosen.

The line unraveled.

For the first time since Su Bai obtained it, the ancient restriction disappeared completely.

He did not waste any time.

His spiritual sense entered the storage space almost immediately, and he had barely swept across its contents when he suddenly froze.

The space inside was vast.

He had expected treasures. Even ordinary possessions left by an Immortal would probably have been enough to make most cultivators lose their minds.

What he found made every thought about value disappear.

His gaze slowly changed.

Outside, the Sect-Scale Formation was nearly complete.

Five Void-Shattering demonic cultivators were being drawn toward it.

And inside his hands was something Su Bai had not known they possessed.

A smile gradually appeared on his face.

’We’re saved.’
