Chapter 2226: Saving the Winged Lion Demon Beast

  • Next Chapter

Observing the strength of the demon beast lurking within the forest shrouded in darkness, Xuan Hao soon set off in the direction of the winged lion demon beast. Sensing how it was desperately rushing in his direction, whether this was because it was being chased or wanted to reach him was anyone’s guess, but at least he shouldn’t let it run through this place on its own. After all, the stronger demon beasts might ignore it normally, but if it stepped into their territory, they wouldn’t hesitate to strike it down.

And... With the strength of the winged lion demon beast, it was essentially at the bottom of the food chain inside the dark forest, with only the weakest monsters roaming the forest being comparable to itself in strength. The general level of the demon beasts inside the forest having reached the Celestial Immortal Realm...

Rooar~!

And as he had suspected, the winged lion demon beast was indeed in the process of being chased down by another demon beast, as it scrambled through the thick foliage with a massive demon beast twice its own size chasing it from behind while roaring loudly. Attracting other equally powerful demon beasts to join the chase. Leaving the winged lion demon beast who had originally thought about facing off against this demon beast around its own strength with only escape as its option.

But bad news rarely came alone, as the powerful flight ability that even surpassed some weaker Celestial Immortal Realm, was essentially rendered useless inside the dark forest.

Not because it was unable to take off and fly, but instead because it had personally witnessed how another demon beast stronger than itself had jumped up above the canopy. Only for an even more terrifying demon beast to swoop down from above and grab it before carrying it off.

That sight alone had made it clear that flying above the canopy was forbidden.

While flying itself was still possible, the thick foliage and different demon beast territories it encountered along the way had essential removed any potential benefits to flying. Rendering it unable to shake off the demon beast chasing it from behind.

Luckily, not everything was bad news, as it could clearly sense that its master was close. Rushing in his direction without the slightest bit of hesitation. Knowing that it was the only way to get out of the troublesome situation it had found itself getting dragged into.

At the same time also silently promising to itself that it wouldn’t dare leave the sect again before it broke through.

"..."

Arriving just at this moment, as the winged lion demon beast almost looked like it was tearing up after having been bullied by the local demon beast, he couldn’t help shaking his head helplessly before waving his hand to suck the winged lion demon beast into his sleeve. Storing it inside the small space hidden within that the rabbit demon beast had almost turned into its own home in the past when he had first captured it.

Roar?

Roooaar...? Roar!

The demon beasts that had been chasing the winged lion demon beast being left in a state of confusion following the winged lion demon beast essentially vanishing into thin air in their eyes before they suddenly turned on each other and began fighting amongst one another. The steadfast alliance that seemed to have been in place while they had been chasing the winged lion demon beast breaking in an instant.

Looks like there is no need for me to do anything...

A sight that left Xuan Hao rather speechless, as he lowered the hand that was about to crush those demon beasts. Deciding to just leave them to fight amongst themselves.

As for the winged lion demon beast, it didn’t take long to realize what had happened, as it soon found somewhere nice to lay down and recover from the exhausting escape it had been forced into over the past few days. Knowing it was safe now that it had been picked up by its master and only needed to wait until it was pulled out when they got back to the sect.

Truly, a first-class means of transportation, that saved it having to make the difficult journey back to the sect on its own.

Unaware of these little thoughts from the winged lion demon beast, Xuan Hao didn’t plan on lingering around within the mystic realm any longer than necessary now that he had completed his goal. Setting off in the direction of the mountain at the core of the mystic realm that served as the main anchor connecting the mystic realm to the Ewaria Continent.

Knowing from feeling around the spatial structure of the mystic realm, that trying to forcibly tear through the spatial structure to construct a way back on his own wouldn’t just result in a hostile response from the formation that kept the mystic realm functioning but also wouldn’t do much even if he succeeded in leaving the mystic realm.

Having traced the general spatial coordinates of the mystic realm to somewhere far from the world of the Ewaria Continent. Making a journey back not just long but also deadly, as he had no clue what dangers he might end up running into while travelling through the void outside the boundaries of his home world.

Anything from deadly spatial storms to terrifying beings native to the void like those mushrooms he had seen inside the ascension realm tower came to mind.

The unstable connection between the mystic realm and the Ewaria Continent wasn’t a coincidence or random in any way but was instead the anchor of the mystic realm itself trying to desperately cling onto the main world as it drifted further away.

With time, the connection that spontaneously appeared between this mystic realm and the Ewaria Continent would be fully severed and the mystic realm would become an independent world drifting through the void on its own, something that definitely wouldn’t end up well, as one of the main reasons behind wanted to anchor a secret realm close to the main world with a permanent anchor attached to the world, was because being close to such a massive world meant most of the dangers lurking within the void were kept at bay...

Whoosh~

Passing through another dozen unique regions while picking up anything of value he found along the way, Xuan Hao soon enough found himself standing before the towering mountain he had once seen when entering the mystic realm not that long ago. The anchor of the entire mystic realm and at the same time also the formation core of the formation that kept the mystic realm functioning normally even when it should have long since broken apart after it broke off from the main world and began drifting away from it.

"What a terrifying formation..." And seeing the formation core and anchor of the mystic realm in person, this was the only words that left his mouth. Realizing from a simple glance that the mountain before him wasn’t a mountain but instead countless formation symbols flowing together into the shape of a towering mountain that had forcibly torn through space and anchored itself to the main world. Trying desperately to drag the entire mystic realm closer to the main world to no avail.

Not because the formation wasn’t powerful enough, but instead because the energy requirements for those massive spatial chains pulling the entire mystic realm was downright terrifying.

Even just sensing the surface fluctuations of the formation at work made it clear to him that this wasn’t a formation designed by someone in the Profound Immortal Realm, as using all of the qi stored inside his dantian to mobilize this kind of formation, he would at most be able to sustain it for three seconds- maybe four seconds if he overdrew his own lifeforce.

Yet, even with such a terrifying consumption, the formation had managed to draw upon the entire strength of the mystic realm to create the required energy needed to sustain such an action for over a week.

Still, no matter how the formation attempted to pull itself back, it was a useless endeavor.

The reason being that to pull itself all the way back to what could be considered a safe zone around the main world. The formation would have to keep running uninterrupted for forty or so years, something impossible with the energy generated by the mystic realm. Even more so, given how the energy storing abilities of the formation couldn’t store more energy than what was needed for it to drag itself back towards the main world for a few weeks.

After all, the formation itself wasn’t designed for anything more than corrections to keep itself stable around the main world. The fact that it had been knocked away from the main world at some point in the past meant that only someone whose strength surpassed the Profound Immortal Realm would be capable of dragging it back to its original position again, something that was even more impossible given how he doubted there would be someone with that level of strength bored enough to spend years dragging a random mystic realm back to the safe zone around the main world...
