Chapter 536: Chapter 370: The Thrilling Return Journey
What??
What the heck?
Test what??
Lin Chen felt like a million question marks were popping up over his head.
’Is this something you can just test?’
’What’s with these two girls? Is their tolerance for alcohol just getting worse and worse?’
’What in the world are they talking about!’
Just as he was about to push Jin Meiyan away, their eyes met. He saw that while her face was flushed, her eyes were exceptionally bright—not at all like someone who was drunk.
She winked at him, as if sending some kind of signal.
While he was frozen in surprise, Jin Meiyan suddenly reached up and undid the top two buttons of her blouse, revealing a wide expanse of pale skin.
Whether from the alcohol, the warmth of the room, or shyness, her fair, smooth skin was covered in a faint crimson blush.
The perfect curves of her figure were faintly visible beneath her white blouse. A light, alluring fragrance drifted from her, and combined with her slightly parted red lips and the warm, wine-scented breath she exhaled...
She didn’t need to make any extra moves. Just sitting in his lap was enough to make his blood boil.
What made it even more deadly was Erica, who was kneeling on the sofa next to them, watching with great interest. The thought that she was the one who had pushed Jin Meiyan into his arms and told her to seduce him made the already crumbling defenses in his heart feel like they could collapse at any moment.
It was a feeling—or rather, a thrill—he had never experienced before. It was the kind of heart-pounding sensation he’d only ever seen in Japanese dramas.
"Oppa, are you sure you really want to test him?"
"Test him! Of course, we’ll test him!"
’You said it yourself, so don’t blame me.’
Jin Meiyan silently apologized in her heart, then leaned a little closer to Lin Chen and whispered a few words into his other ear.
To Erica, the action looked as if she were blowing into his ear.
But that simple movement alone was enough to make Lin Chen lose control. He flipped her over, pinning her to the sofa, and kissed her fiercely.
Seeing Lin Chen actually go through with the kiss, the expression on Erica’s face instantly froze.
She didn’t try to stop them. She just silently picked up a beer from the coffee table and took several large gulps. GULP, GULP, GULP.
By the time Jin Meiyan managed to forcefully push Lin Chen away, Erica had already passed out on the other side of the sofa, reeking of alcohol.
After having Lin Chen carry her to bed and tuck her in, Jin Meiyan let out a soft sigh and shot him a harsh glare.
"Oppa, this is all your fault. If you weren’t so greedy, how could things have turned out like this?"
"I admit I was greedy, but you were the one who made this plan, weren’t you? I didn’t know anything about it!"
He hadn’t expected Jin Meiyan to have planned all this in advance. Her scheme probably started the moment the word "drinking" was mentioned at the dinner table, hadn’t it?
She used Erica’s low alcohol tolerance and the recent stress from her father’s accident, knowing she would want to drink to unwind.
Then, she goaded her, steering the conversation toward their relationship and making Erica recall that thing she’d said before—whether as a joke or not—about having Jin Meiyan try to seduce him too.
As for how she managed to control the situation so precisely, it probably had something to do with the private conversations the two of them had been having. He really had no idea about that part.
In any case, the ultimate goal was to have a drunk Erica witness the scene of Lin Chen being unable to resist temptation and kissing Jin Meiyan.
What she hadn’t anticipated was Erica actively pushing her into Lin Chen’s arms, which solved a huge problem and made the whole plan fall into place naturally.
"In any case, you’re the one who forced a kiss on me. Even when Oppa wakes up, she’ll definitely remember this scene. Since you’re so greedy, Oppa, you have to take responsibility for it!"
She also grabbed a remaining beer can from the coffee table and chugged a few large gulps, trying to cool her burning-hot body.
Lin Chen raised his hands in surrender, then gently pulled her into his arms.
"Don’t worry, I’ll apologize to her when she wakes up. I’ll definitely take responsibility for this. I won’t put you in a difficult position."
’She was already planning to leave. It was my own greed that made her hesitate.’
No matter the outcome, he couldn’t let Jin Meiyan bear the responsibility. A man had to do what a man had to do.
"Mm, I definitely trust you on that, Oppa. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen to stay. But that doesn’t mean I agree to let you two-time."
She puffed out her red lips, her complaining tone as sweet as a coquettish whine.
"I don’t care what Erica Oppa thinks, I won’t accept it. This time is an exception. From now on, you’re not allowed to touch me in front of Oppa. No intimate physical contact of any kind, understand?"
"Understood, understood!"
Lin Chen chuckled, putting an arm around her and guiding her toward the door. "She’s asleep right now. Want to go to my room and... talk?"
"Okay."
Hearing her agree, Lin Chen felt his blood begin to boil again as countless romantic scenes flashed through his mind.
But just as the door opened and he instinctively took two eager steps forward, Jin Meiyan suddenly twisted like a slippery eel, wriggled out of his embrace, and landed a swift, hard kick on his butt.
Caught completely off guard, he stumbled forward several steps—THUMP, THUMP, THUMP—and crashed right into the hallway wall with a loud THUD.
Jin Meiyan pulled the door almost shut, leaving only a narrow crack. She wrinkled her delicate nose at him.
"Oppa is drunk and needs someone to look after her. It’d be very dangerous if she choked on her own vomit. I can’t just leave her alone. Now get lost, you bad boy!"
With that, she SLAMMED the door shut.
Lin Chen opened his mouth, then just shook his head with a wry smile and returned to his own room next door.
’Even though things have taken a slight turn for the better, why do I have this ominous feeling?’
’Compared to Erica, who’s so open and straightforward, Jin Meiyan’s methods are far more sophisticated.’
’I have no idea how Erica will react when she wakes up tomorrow morning. I should just get to sleep early tonight and prepare for the storm that might hit tomorrow.’
’If I can just get through this, there will be plenty of time to spend with both of them later. Why worry about not having opportunities to be intimate?’
Ever since his mind had... opened up, he felt like a different person. His head was filled with unhealthy thoughts, as if he were trying to make up for all the lost time from the past few years.
He knew this state of mind wasn’t quite right. After returning to his room, he quickly took a shower to clear his head before finally going to bed.
「The next morning.」
The sun had just begun to rise, but with a heart full of worries, he was already up and pacing restlessly. Sporting two dark circles under his eyes, he went out onto the balcony to watch the slowly ascending sun in the distance.
He wanted to get some breakfast for the two women, but there weren’t any Chinese restaurants nearby. A round trip to Chinatown would take over an hour, and the food would be cold by the time he got back.
Western breakfast options were just McDonald’s burgers or various sandwiches and egg-and-meat wraps from a Tim’s, plus coffee.
People with hangovers probably don’t have much of an appetite in the morning anyway. He figured it was better to just take them out to eat later.
He ended up waiting until noon, which was checkout time.
When the door opened and Jin Meiyan and Erica filed out, both of them acted as if nothing had happened. They smiled, waved to him as usual, and then started pushing their small suitcases toward the elevator.
’What’s going on?’
Utterly confused, Lin Chen didn’t dare to ask. He hurried after them, took the suitcases from their hands, and played the part of a dedicated porter.
They didn’t leave right away. Instead, they made another trip to the hospital to say a brief goodbye to Erica’s parents before catching a taxi to the airport.
Throughout the journey, neither woman mentioned what had happened last night. They chatted and joked around completely normally. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought they were just two best friends on vacation.
But the more normally they acted, the more a chill ran down Lin Chen’s spine.
It wasn’t until they arrived in Nanaimo, after traveling for over ten hours, that the three of them unanimously decided to stay the night. Erica even dragged Jin Meiyan to the same hot pot restaurant and bakery they’d visited last time, making Lin Chen treat them to a huge meal.
When they drove to a decent-looking hotel to check in, the young lady at the front desk subconsciously glanced a few times at the two women’s slightly protruding bellies, then at Lin Chen, her eyes filled with shock.
CLICK.
The hotel room door closed.
The two women sat down on the end of the bed in unison, their gazes fixed squarely on Lin Chen.
He swallowed nervously, his scalp tingling. But there was no escaping this dramatic showdown. Steeling himself, he walked up to Erica and gave her a deep, ninety-degree bow.
"I’m sorry!"
Erica shook her head, her expression complicated, and pulled him up.
"The one you should be apologizing to is Meiyan. She considers us friends, yet I made her do something like that. And you—aren’t you usually so self-controlled? What happened? You couldn’t hold back when it came to her?"
"You should be grateful she has feelings for you too. Otherwise, she would have slapped you long ago. She might have even called the police."
Looking at Erica’s disappointed expression and then at Jin Meiyan, who looked a bit guilty, Lin Chen hesitated for a moment before finally speaking.
"That’s not what I meant by ’I’m sorry.’ The truth is... back when we were filming the wilderness survival experience, I was captivated by her beauty, just like I was with you at first."
"She had some feelings for me back then, but because of you, she chose to leave right after we finished filming the whale video. She was afraid of affecting our relationship. I was the one who was greedy. I didn’t want to just let her go."
"And then, what you said that day made me waver even more, which is why I acted so impulsively..."
He recounted the whole story of his inner turmoil during this period, though he altered a few details, leaving out the part where Jin Meiyan confessed her feelings first and taking all the blame himself.
Jin Meiyan hadn’t expected him to say all that. A flicker of emotion showed in her eyes.
’This way, Erica will have a completely positive impression of me, and it won’t affect our friendship.’
After all, having feelings for someone doesn’t mean anything definitive. In the eyes of a woman from the United States, this was perfectly normal. It just proved she had good taste and that the man she was interested in possessed an extraordinary charm.
On the contrary, if the man she liked couldn’t attract any other women at all, *that* would be the real problem.
