Crossing the Timeline: Is It Reasonable for Me, the God of Wealth, To Be Short on Money?
Chapter 599
"God of Wealth, let’s head over to the Human Legacy Center!"
Gu sighed, then turned and vanished in an instant.
Along with him, the God of Theater, Wind God, Shadow God, and God of Fate—the four divine fate bearers of the Ninth Age—also disappeared.
"Ugh!"
Su Wen let out a symbolic sigh before making his way to the God of Wealth’s office, now known as the Human Legacy Center.
"God of Wealth!"
As soon as Su Wen arrived, Gu couldn’t hold back. "I’m seriously starting to think the Star God has truly betrayed us!"
"Just look at what he’s been doing these past few years. He’s been going all out to boost the Remnant’s combat power while undermining us at every turn!"
"So, I’ve got a theory: maybe the Remnant used some method to corrupt the Star God’s mind?"
"Otherwise, how else could this happen?"The God of Theater chimed in, "Honestly, given the Star God’s actions in this Time and Space, it’s not far-fetched to say he’s genuinely turned against us."
The Star God’s moves, even those brutal encirclements that left no room for survival, made perfect sense.
After all, the Star God was trying to earn the Remnant’s trust, likely to pull off something big!
Or maybe he was gathering crucial intel for the main Time and Space.
But compared to this Time and Space, the idea that the Star God was secretly plotting against the Remnant was downright ridiculous.
For the main Time and Space, though, the Star God was definitely undercover.
Different Time and Space, different perspectives—your understanding of the Star God depends on where you stand.
"I think the Remnant must trust the Star God completely by now, right?"
Gu glanced down at his disheveled robe, trying to keep his frustration in check.
For the first time, he felt a hint of what the Remnant must be going through.
Being on the opposite side of the Star God… it’s just unbearable!
Your plans and strategies? They probably see right through them and counter every move.
And the Star God’s military tactics against the Remnant? Always pushing them to their absolute limits.
It’s beyond frustrating!
It’s downright infuriating!
Only those who’ve faced the Star God as an enemy can truly grasp how terrifying he is!
"They definitely trust him," the God of Theater said with a sigh. "Put yourself in their shoes—if you were part of the Remnant, would you doubt the Star God?"
"Look at what he’s done to us. What kind of double agent could pull off something like that?"
"If I didn’t understand the Star God’s motives, I’d probably…"
He trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid.
After all, everyone here is on the same side.
The Star God is also one of us.
But this ally has made life in the main Time and Space incredibly tough over the years, bringing a lot of suffering.
So, they’re being rational about it; they don’t hate the Star God.
But the border soldiers, who’ve been caught up in the Star God’s schemes, feel differently.
Their hatred for the Star God might even be stronger than their feelings toward the Remnant!
After all, the Remnant are enemies, and they’re just fighting to survive.
Everyone can understand that—fighting for survival is something you can empathize with.
It’s all about who’s got the skills!
But the Star God’s actions? Betraying the past, teaming up with the Remnant Universe, and causing the deaths of so many soldiers—even his own comrades? That’s just monstrous!
So, the Star God has to die.
"We can put the Star God issue aside for now," Su Wen quickly shifted the conversation. "What does the fall of the Fighting God mean? I think… I don’t need to spell it out, do I?"
At his words, everyone froze. They were probably aware of the return of the Fighting God’s body and the end of the world it would bring.
Even the veterans from the First Age had been prepped ahead of time.
After all, the reaction from Rui, the Master Lady of Time and Space, had made it clear: while the First Age veterans might want to see the Fighting God return, they wouldn’t go out of their way to kill him.
Otherwise, the first thing the Fighting God would do upon waking up would be to scatter their ashes!
"God of Wealth, when will the Fighting God return?" Mo Xiaosu suddenly asked after a moment of silence.
"I don’t know," Su Wen shook his head. "Whether it’s the call of the will of the cosmos or some other force, the Fighting God will definitely come back.
"I just don’t know when exactly."
He paused, then added, "But according to reliable sources, it’ll be within the next ten years or so."
To get this intel, he’d shelled out a fortune to bribe the river of time.
Sure enough, the dark river knew about this.
But since he hadn’t paid enough, the Ink River only gave him a rough timeframe, no specifics.
Hearing this, everyone felt a chill and started debating intensely.
"Maybe you don’t realize how powerful my god is," Gu said, looking around. "Even if targeted by the will of the Remnant Universe, as long as my god doesn’t want to die, he won’t."
"Holy Valley, do you know where I got the news about the Fighting God’s fall and his return?" Su Wen asked after a moment of thought.
Gu felt a wave of unease. Combined with some earlier hints from the God of Wealth, he already had a guess.
"The current Fighting God—your god—told me himself," Su Wen said, crushing Gu’s hopes.
The Battle Master had said his true self would likely return as a corpse.
Based on his time in the sub-timelines and his interactions with the Battle Master, Gu had pieced together the deeper meaning behind his words.
For example, when the Battle Master said his combat talent was "a bit lacking," it really meant it was terrible.
And if the true self was "likely dead," that meant it was game over!
So, Gu got it.
"Alright," Gu said, a bit dejected. "But even if my god’s body returns with only half its strength, that’s still more than we can handle."
He paused, then asked, "So, is this your plan with the Star God?
"To use my god’s body’s indiscriminate attacks to draw out the will of the cosmos?"
Su Wen nodded slightly. "Yes, that’s the idea."
He hadn’t told anyone that the Fighting God was still alive.
Even now, the Star God didn’t know the Fighting God had survived.
After all, Su Wen had checked the price of hiding the Fighting God’s presence from the river of time, and as the Fighting God grew stronger, the cost skyrocketed.
Especially for a god king-level Fighting God—it was an astronomical sum.
If it weren’t for the river of time’s recent price drop, he might’ve had to seriously rethink hiding the Fighting God’s aura.
Either way, he was keeping the fact that the Fighting God was alive as a backup plan, just in case.
What if he could influence the current Fighting God’s body?
Wouldn’t that be something?
