Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!

Chapter 798: The Backlash of Authority

  • Next Chapter

On the other side of Nightfall City.

Sir Aiwen was leading a group of Night Doctors, heads raised, directing the medical work for the patients who were still trapped in madness, unable to recover from the effects of the earlier Magic Circle.

And it was at that very moment that an urgent announcement came rushing in from outside the door.

"Bad news! Sir Aiwen! Something terrible has happened!"

A Night Doctor came bursting in frantically, seemingly carrying news of the utmost importance.

Sir Aiwen turned, casting a sidelong glance at him while holding the documents in his hands, raising an eyebrow as he said:

"What's happened? Take your time and speak."

The Night Doctor was gasping for breath, urgently pointing toward the direction of the entrance, and said in a rush:

"Sir Aiwen, I think you really should go see for yourself! Ever since he woke up, Lynn's mental state seems to have developed some kind of problem. Right now he's running back and forth naked between the Abnormal Creature Center and his room! Dashing over from this side one moment, then charging back from that side the next! There's absolutely no stopping him!"

The moment those words were spoken, Sir Aiwen and the surrounding Night Doctors were all deeply shaken.

Lynn?

Naked running??

Although it wasn't really surprising that he of all people would do something like this, but...

Sir Aiwen's expression instantly turned serious as he set down the documents and said:

"Let's go. We'll go take a look."

*Snap*—

He snapped his fingers.

The space around them immediately twisted like a kaleidoscope, and as the ripples faded, their group instantly appeared on the street outside the building where Lynn resided.

And no sooner had they arrived.

They were immediately shocked to see Lynn, completely devoid of clothing, once again gritting his teeth and leaping down from the fifth-floor window, then sprinting along the street without a moment's hesitation.

"Lynn, what the hell are you doing?! At least put on some clothes before you run! You're ruining the city's image!"

Sir Aiwen was frantic, quickly reaching out his hand.

He was about to call out to stop him.

But almost in an instant, Lynn had already vanished from the edge of their sight.

Although he knew this was hell, where there was no need for Morality, and Lynn had taken the path of Flesh and blood, where clothes were indeed nothing but burdensome encumbrances, running a public naked marathon like this was still extremely indecorous.

"Let's go check on him!"

He was gritting his teeth in exasperation, about to follow and see what kind of nonsense Lynn was up to.

But the Night Doctor beside him shook his head and said with a twitching expression: "No need, Sir Aiwen. He'll be back very soon. All we need to do is wait here for a few minutes."

Sir Aiwen: "???"

And sure enough, it was exactly as they had predicted.

In less than three minutes, from afar, they really did see, with jaws dropping, Lynn once again charging back toward them, still completely devoid of clothing.

Except that this time, it was obvious that compared to when he had left, his gaze was abnormally hollow and stiff.

He rushed straight back into the building.

Followed by the sound of a heavy door slamming shut.

Sir Aiwen and the others exchanged bewildered glances, and when they observed through the window, they found him already lying on his bed, eyes closed, sleeping as if nothing had ever happened.

A brief, eerie silence.

Everyone around fell into an unnatural stillness, utterly speechless.

The Night Doctor coughed and said: "That's how it's been, we don't know what exactly happened either. Over these past few hours, Mr. Lynn would suddenly wake up at intervals, then repeat the previous behavior. Though we probably shouldn't say too much about it, the impact it's been having really isn't good."

And the biggest impact of all was this.

On this remote street, over the course of these few hours, the number of female Night Doctors seemed to have increased noticeably.

Many of them appeared to be passing by purely by accident, then catching an inadvertent glimpse, letting out a few instinctive shrieks, before blushing and scurrying away with pattering footsteps.

But whether they were frightened out of their wits.

Or startled by the sight.

Well, that was anyone's guess.

Sir Aiwen rubbed his temples to compose himself, then cast his gaze upon Lynn, carefully trying to discern any clue.

"You're saying that during this entire time, he kept running toward the direction of the Abnormal Creature Center, is that right?"

The Night Doctor nodded, saying: "Mm. Many witnesses saw him heading in that direction, but because of the ban you issued, no Night Doctor actually saw whether he truly made it into the Abnormal Creature Center."

Sir Aiwen's gaze immediately turned grave.

Because if that was the case.

Then there was likely only one possibility.

"He's being interfered with by 002."

The moment those words were spoken, the surrounding Night Doctors were all shaken, exchanging uneasy glances with one another.

Sir Aiwen's expression was stern. He slowly extended his hand, and as a halo of Psychic Energy flickered, a beam of light instantly seeped into Lynn's brow.

Lynn woke in an instant, sitting bolt upright in bed, his pupils contracting sharply.

Then, gritting his teeth, he made to leap out of bed and charge out without a moment's hesitation.

"Lynn!"

A thunderous voice rang out.

Lynn immediately turned his head, and saw Sir Aiwen standing solemnly and gravely in the middle of the room, along with a host of Night Doctors at his side.

"Big Brother Aiwen?"

Only then did Lynn stop himself. He rubbed his temples, pulled over a chair, and sat down by the bedside with some fatigue, saying:

"You came?"

Sir Aiwen's gaze was deep and probing as he walked over to him and said seriously:

"Didn't I already have your Bodyguard Miss tell you that it's best not to go looking for that quill at the Abnormal Center right now? What did you discover? Your current condition seems off."

Lynn calmed himself down, quickly pulled on his clothes, and cast a glance out the window.

He didn't answer Sir Aiwen's question. Instead, he asked first:

"How did I get back?"

Sir Aiwen hesitated, saying: "When I arrived, you had just charged out naked again. But before long, you came running back. My current rank can't perceive much more than that, but your state just now was clearly abnormal."

Lynn took a deep breath, adjusted his Monocle, and steadied himself, saying:

"Mm."

"It's because I was trying to get close to the quill, and her current abnormality is far more severe than any of you could imagine. Earlier, in order to deal with... that Root, she suffered a tremendous backlash, and her current state is extremely unstable."

The moment those words were spoken, Sir Aiwen was instantly stunned, but immediately composed himself. He then cast a meaningful glance, signaling the surrounding Night Doctors to withdraw.

Soon.

Only the two of them remained in the room.

Sir Aiwen's gaze turned serious as he said: "What exactly happened?"

002 had played some crucial role in their battle against the Matriarch, something he'd only learned afterward. And the abnormality that subsequently appeared at the Abnormal Center had also made it difficult for him to step foot inside, leaving him unaware of the true situation unfolding within.

But because the effect wasn't harmful, merely preventing people from entering, he hadn't made it a priority to deal with the matter right away.

Lynn adjusted his Monocle, speaking with profound gravity:

"Backlash."
