Chapter 1484: Chapter 18: Blitz (Part 1)
The Battle of Frenso Town ended quickly.
Prisoners with raised hands, moving in long columns, emerged from the corners of the city’s ruins and, under the escort of the Fei Alliance soldiers, gathered at the temporarily set up prisoner of war camp.
"Halt!" A Chuckna soldier swung his energy rifle, making the prisoners stop in their tracks.
Under the dim streetlights, the dispirited prisoners stood dumbly where they were, hearing the enormous roar coming from the intersection.
Dirty water, mixed with black and red blood froth, splashed everywhere as it was trampled by an iron mechanical foot. A bluish Bandit Army Mecha appeared before the clearing infantry and the prisoners being escorted.
"Speed up!" The Mecha of a platoon-level officer, marked with two stripes on its body, stood on the ruins, urging its team loudly.
Rows of Mechas, with heavy steps, rumbled past the intersection. The piles of broken bricks and rubble on the streets jumped rapidly amidst the violent shaking of the ground.
The Bandit Army officer in the ruins jumped down and followed swiftly after his team had passed. The long Mecha team, like a high-speed train rumbling by, sped westward like lightning.
The prisoners were dazed, unable to understand how they had lost the battle so confusingly.
Not long ago, they had surged into this town of four hundred thousand people, annihilating Chuckna’s 172nd Division, charging boldly into the depths with unstoppable momentum.
But unexpectedly, the originally favorable situation was turned completely upside down in an instant!
First, the vanguard troops crashed into Half Cloud Ridge and ended up with bloody heads, retreating twenty kilometers, losing nearly thirty percent of their forces. Shortly after, the follow-up troops on the outskirts of Frenso fell into misfortune, cut off and surrounded by the Bandit Army tailing the defeated vanguard rapidly. Within hours, forces were reduced by another thirty percent.
The sudden reversal of the situation left no time for any reaction.
Especially when SkyNet was nearly blacked out, coordination during favorable battles was maintained, but once defeated, chaos ensued. Those at the rear didn’t know what happened at the front, and the front troops didn’t know where their comrades were. Some troops were attacking, others defending, while gaps between them were made like no man’s land for the Bandit Army.
To break out of this situation, suppress Fei Alliance’s counter-attack momentum, and open an outer corridor to gather scattered troops — the Su Jie Alliance Commander launched a counterattack along the central highway.
This was not a wrong decision. In fact, everyone believed that, with the help of a hundred Judgers, the troops could quickly make the Fei Alliance retreat. Even if they couldn’t make them defeat them, at least gather control, calm the scattered troops, and return the battle to an equal footing.
But unexpectedly, just when the counterattack was launched, news came from the rear: a hidden Armored Division blocked the retreat route west of Frenso Town. The fifty Judgers advancing along the highway were butchered by three hundred Devil Mechas as if slicing through melon.
When the last Judger fell, officers could no longer control their troops.
With formidable enemies at the front and no reinforcements at the rear, desperation enveloped Frenso Town. Every soldier lost the courage to resist. The three fully equipped elite Armored Divisions now had less than a third left. Besides surrendering, they didn’t know what else they could do to face the enemy swarming into the city.
The Battle of Frenso Town ended in just a few hours. Even more frightful was that everything happening in this area, covered by endless electronic interference and the mysterious Fei Alliance special squads, was unknown to Bellif’s Northern Group Army main force.
The ordinary soldiers, who lacked sufficient military awareness, couldn’t understand what impact Frenso Town’s failure in containment direction would have on the Sunset Mountain battle situation. They only knew that when an armored unit capable of easily defeating Judgers joined this battle, and half of Bellif’s plan was cracked, the final outcome of this battle might not be as wonderful as everyone previously expected.
"Another sleepless night." Fatty, holding a cigarette, reflected his chubby face on the bright metal plate of the control panel: "Who’s the bastard that came up with the idea of traversing six battle zones in one day?! Don’t they know that lack of sleep affects skin care and sexual health?!"
Seeing this douchebag finish reflecting his face, then anxiously opening his pants to check his junior, Bonnie couldn’t help but grab his ear and twist it backward three hundred and sixty degrees.
Caught off guard, Fatty’s head tilted, and a small clump of glowing red ash shook off from the cigarette, fatefully landing in his crotch.
With a hissing sound, Fatty drew in a cold breath, distorting his nose and eyes.
"Ouch!"
Fatty’s painful expression startled Bonnie. Instinctively wanting to extend her hand to rub, she recoiled like an electric shock, biting her lip, feeling helpless. After a while, she timidly asked, "Burned?"
Fatty frowned like a wrinkled Shar-Pei, pulling his waistband forward, tearfully saying: "Look, Uncle Two’s hair got singed!"
"Fatty," realizing she was tricked, Bonnie, embarrassed and annoyed, grabbed Fatty’s vulnerable spot, squinting at him through grit teeth: "Believe it or not, I could destroy this curly catastrophe right now!"
