For a spirit medium, going all out meant one thing: Spirit-writing.

Lin Shuyou opened his left palm, clenched and shook his right fist, then slammed one foot hard against the ground!

In the next instant, Lin Shuyou’s eyes kept shifting back and forth between Vertical pupils and normal eyes, flickering rapidly between successful and failed Spirit-writing.

The reason was simple: White Crane Child had sensed the terrifying aura here, and He did not dare descend!

Under normal circumstances, He would have given no response at all. No matter how skilled the medium was or how close He was to them, He would never allow Himself to descend into such a dreadful and dangerous place.

But the problem was that the Child still remembered the oath-warning Li Zhuiyuan had given Him before: if He ever again answered a summons and refused to descend, that boy would start erasing His divine seat. So He did not dare stay away either.

Caught in the grip of extreme hesitation and inner conflict, He ended up in this Schrödinger-like state of Spirit-writing.

Still, the Child knew this ambiguous attitude could not last long.

In the end, He made His choice.

This place was dangerous. Descending here might bring disastrous consequences.

But if He did not come down, then disaster for Himself later was guaranteed!

This was no longer a matter of who He feared more. It was a matter of probability.

The Vertical pupils opened fully. White Crane Child descended!

The dream ghost pointed at Li Zhuiyuan. “Kill him for me!”

White Crane Child looked at Li Zhuiyuan.

Then—

He charged straight at the dream ghost!

The dream ghost was so startled it immediately dodged aside.

White Crane Child stuck close in pursuit. His footwork was far beyond anything Lin Shuyou could match. He caught up in no time, swung a punch, and smashed the dream ghost down to the ground.

The dream ghost let out a wail.

For the first time, it was being beaten inside a dream of its own making.

Right then, the sky overhead split with dense black cracks. Faintly, it seemed a bird cry could be heard.

This was the sound of a natural predator!

The dream ghost grew furious again. Damn them, damn all of them—they really had no intention of letting it leave alive!

Their cooperation had been full of mutual wariness from the start, but what the dream ghost wanted was self-preservation. Yet the other side had actually prepared Boqi’s body and spirit in advance, making it obvious they meant to destroy it after using it up!

Enemies were hateful enough, but betrayal from one’s own side was even worse!

The dream ghost shook the lamp in its hand, and its figure vanished from this place altogether, leaving the dream completely. It was going to settle its final account with those people.

Even if its ending was already doomed, it still wanted to vent one last burst of rage before the curtain fell!

White Crane Child lost His target. He looked toward Li Zhuiyuan, then swept His gaze around.

Now He seemed to notice something off about the surroundings. This did not seem to be reality.

Li Zhuiyuan did not care much. The boy only knew that this one with the Vertical pupils was more obedient and better-behaved than the last one.

He walked up to the Child and reached out to grab His hand.

“Don’t resist me. Come with me.”

The Child lifted His head and looked at the black crack overhead, as well as that terrifying pressure, then nodded.

He felt that this boy really did raise the stakes higher every single time.

But enormous risks often came with enormous rewards. The boy’s threats made Him afraid, yet the benefits involved also filled Him with subjective initiative.

Holding White Crane Child’s hand, Li Zhuiyuan led Him to the amusement park.

After tossing Him there, Li Zhuiyuan hurried off to the final dream.

White Crane Child looked at the people around Him. They had all become younger.

That girl in particular had become so much smaller.

At last, White Crane Child fixed His gaze on that blurry figure.

A deep gleam flashed through His Vertical pupils as He tried to see through the blur around that figure.

What He did not know was that under the peach grove back in Nantong, the one He had not even dared open His eyes to look at was, in those years, merely a follower of the figure before Him.

“Tch.”

The figure let out a dismissive sound.

Blood instantly streamed from the Child’s eyes.

The figure said, “Erase this memory yourself, then leave. The memories here are more than even you can bear. Don’t think of taking them away.”

The Child first bowed to the figure in salute, then reached up and touched His forehead. As He erased the memory, He also ended the Spirit-writing state.

Lin Shuyou returned to his original form, but he was still trapped in the puppet state controlled by the dream ghost. So even though blood was still pouring from his eyes, he still lunged at Li Zhuiyuan, who sat there cross-legged.

Tan Wenbin and Yin Meng immediately stepped forward to stop him.

The figure reached out and slapped the back of Lin Shuyou’s head.

“Wake up.”

That thin layer of paper was pierced.

Lin Shuyou snapped awake as though from a dream.

The figure clapped His hands and said strangely, “Why didn’t he wake this guy up while he was at it?”

Then the figure nodded.

“Oh, right. The kid doesn’t remember anymore.”

Then the figure slapped the back of His own head.

“Oh no, I forgot to tell him too.”

…

This was the last dream. Once he took this person away, he could leave the dream with all his subordinates and return to reality.

Although the thing called “later” had technically already happened, from Li Zhuiyuan’s current point of view, it still felt more like something that would happen in the future.

So right now, he genuinely had the feeling that he was getting an early look at the subordinates he would have in the future.

This dream contained a collapsed single-story house. The surrounding courtyard walls had all been destroyed as well, leaving only the table in the center and the neatly butchered meat laid out across it.

Where was the person?

Li Zhuiyuan walked through the ruins and came to the table made from a door plank.

Could it be that his final subordinate had already been chopped into chunks inside the dream?

If that was the case, then after waking up, would there still be a complete consciousness left?

Li Zhuiyuan stretched out both hands and lifted the human head from the table, carved as neatly as an apple.

Almost instinctively, he reconstructed the face in his mind from the ruined features.

So old?

Around fifty, probably.

He had originally assumed that since his real age was not very great, his subordinates should be on the younger side too. Apparently, there were exceptions.

If he had accepted this man into his team, then this old man must have had some remarkable ability, right?

Suddenly, the ground below caved in.

Covered in dirt and with scarlet eyes, Runsheng leaped up from underground with a shovel in hand and smashed it straight at Li Zhuiyuan above him.

The dream ghost had crushed two chips earlier. The command it had given to Lin Shuyou also took effect on Runsheng.

The first command was: kill him!

Li Zhuiyuan quickly controlled the formation. His figure vanished from where he stood and reappeared twenty meters away.

“Is it you?”

The good news was that the person before him looked very young. The bad news was that he too had become a puppet.

But before Li Zhuiyuan could think further, countless bloody gashes appeared across Runsheng’s body, and wave after wave of blood-laced air blasted out from him.

The dream ghost’s second command: use your full strength!

With all Qi Gates open—this was a move Runsheng had simulated over and over even in his sleep at night, just waiting for a chance to use it in front of Little Yuan.

It was just that before now, there had never been a truly suitable opportunity.

But Runsheng never imagined that the first time he used this move would actually be in a dream, and against Little Yuan himself.

With all Qi Gates open, Runsheng’s power and speed surged to a terrifying level.

In almost the same instant, he reappeared in front of Li Zhuiyuan, and the shovel came smashing down toward the boy’s head!

Li Zhuiyuan did not dare be careless, but in the end, he had “lost” the real experience of battle, and that was the deadliest part.

Because right now, even though he was still controlling the formation and manipulating the dream, he was not faster than Runsheng’s shovel!

Damn, this is over.

That was the voice in Li Zhuiyuan’s heart. Knowing he had no time left to react, he simply closed his eyes.

He waited, and waited, and waited…

There did not seem to be any pain from having his skull smashed apart. Or had it happened too fast, death come too suddenly, so there had been no sensation at all?

Li Zhuiyuan slowly opened his eyes. He found that he was still in this dream, still in the same place as before.

That shovel had not come down.

And that big fellow who had suddenly burst forth with such terrifying strength, the one who had nearly smashed his head apart just a moment ago, was now crouching down with his back to him.

The big fellow’s hands, clasped behind his lower back, lifted slightly upward, signaling for him to climb on. He wanted to carry him on his back.

Li Zhuiyuan stared blankly at that broad back in front of him, a back that stirred a strange sense of familiarity.

The boy could hardly believe it.

There was actually someone in this world who, even after becoming a puppet, even after receiving his master’s command…

would still never hurt him.
