Corpse Recovery Diver
Chapter 1858 - 333: 4
Run Sheng had all his Qi Gates shut, and Ah You hadn't done Divination either; you could say everyone was suppressing their Power and doing live-combat teaching, straight-up feeding moves.
In the corner, there was actually a Xiao Hei lying there; it must have come in with them at the start.
It must have been here for quite a while; maybe it was scared at first, but as time went by, its eyelids started fighting, and it actually lay there and fell asleep.
Tan Wenbin looked toward the altar; Brother Xiao Yuan was standing there, array flag in hand, controlling everything here.
After their eyes met, Tan Wenbin nodded, took a deep breath, and walked in.
The moment he entered, his consciousness plunged into chaos; he lost all sense of direction, and a sharp needle-like pain stabbed through his brain.
Tan Wenbin fell into a terrifying darkness of despair; he started desperately searching for his own senses, constantly trying to reposition himself.
By the time Tan Wenbin finally walked out of that darkness and opened his eyes, he found his clothes already soaked with sweat; his whole body swayed and he dropped to one knee, gasping for breath.
"Brother Bin, here."
A bottle of Jianlibao was handed over; Tan Wenbin took it, and as he drank he looked at Ah You beside him.
"Pfft…"
The drink had barely entered his mouth before he sprayed it out. Ah You was pitch black all over, even his hair had been scorched into wavy curls.
Li Zhiyuan: "Good work, everyone. We'll continue tomorrow."
The three of them walked out of the Daoist Field.
Run Sheng's body was trembling uncontrollably, still savoring some new instincts that had been beaten into him.
Lin Shuyou's hands were still rapidly forming Seals, muttering spells under his breath.
Tan Wenbin dug at his ear, then rubbed his eyes; he felt the cicadas at night were ridiculously loud, and the moonlight way too piercing.
Even though it was bitter, exhausting, and they looked a mess, everyone was in a pretty good mood; after all, this sense of improvement was the real deal.
And this kind of treatment was rare; if Zhao Yi found out they had a special training class like this at home, he'd probably haul his men over to Nantong and never leave.
Lin Shuyou: "Brother Bin, wanna hit the riverbank for a late-night snack?"
Tan Wenbin: "Mr. Li told us to go to Rugao for a sitting fast first thing tomorrow morning."
Lin Shuyou: "Alright, guess that's off then."
Tan Wenbin: "It's fine, we can have that rat cook and deliver it to us."
Lin Shuyou: "Nice idea, I almost forgot—last time Brother Xiao Yuan said we could have it do delivery."
Tan Wenbin: "You go pick it up by the road at the village entrance then, don't let it get too close here. If Aunt Liu happens to skin it on a whim, we'll have nothing left to eat."
Lin Shuyou: "Got it, I'll go get it."
Tan Wenbin looked at his feet: "Huh, Xiao Hei didn't come out?"
Lin Shuyou: "Nope, I'll go back and lead it out."
Tan Wenbin grabbed Lin Shuyou's arm and asked, "Xiao Hei, did it go in with you guys?"
Lin Shuyou: "I don't remember, probably?"
Run Sheng: "No. When we went in, Xiao Yuan was already in the Daoist Field, and Xiao Hei was there too."
Xiao Hei was basically being raised by Run Sheng. Back in university, Xiao Hei and Run Sheng had shared a basement room.
So Run Sheng knew this dog's temperament very well; it was so lazy it would never go out for a walk by itself, so there was no way it had just accidentally followed them into the Daoist Field.
Run Sheng: "Xiao Hei was led into the Daoist Field by Xiao Yuan on purpose."
Lin Shuyou propped his chin with one hand, eyes thoughtful, muttering, "So, is Brother Xiao Yuan giving Xiao Hei a class? Or does he have some other purpose?"
Run Sheng: "How about thinking up some dishes instead."
Lin Shuyou: "Squirrel-shaped mandarin fish!"
Inside the Daoist Field.
Li Zhiyuan hadn't left; he was still standing alone on top of the altar, holding Alii's framed sketchbook—on it were recorded every past 'wave' he'd gone through.
Back when Alii drew these, she only meant them as a keepsake to look back on someday; even Li Zhiyuan hadn't expected that this sketch frame would one day have a practical use.
After some picking and flipping, Li Zhiyuan finally turned the sketch frame to the "Granny Yu" wave.
The background in the drawing was by the reservoir; Granny Yu was kneeling before him, Karmic Fire burning over her body, on the verge of disappearing.
Li Zhiyuan studied the drawing closely. As he stared, the scene in the picture seemed to come alive, and the memories in his mind grew vivid.
The young man's body swayed slightly; he touched his nose, and a nosebleed started to flow.
Li Zhiyuan closed his eyes.
Deep in his consciousness.
By the fish pond, there was no one.
Li Zhiyuan walked from the fish pond to Grandpa's house, went up to the second floor, and pushed open the door.
Inside the room, not just the desk and the bed, but even the floor tiles, walls, and ceiling were plastered with all kinds of design drawings.
The Body was still sitting at the desk, writing furiously.
After Li Zhiyuan entered the room, he went over to the wardrobe, opened the box inside, took out a can of Jianlibao, popped it open, and took several big gulps.
The Body: "I don't like this self-deceptive way of yours. In reality, drinking it at least gives you sugar; here, you only get a simulated taste."
Li Zhiyuan: "Then why'd you even put them here?"
The Body: "I copied this place exactly from your real room."
Li Zhiyuan kept drinking.
The Body put down the pen, turned around, looked at Li Zhiyuan, and said, "You're on the verge of burning out."
"Yeah, the nosebleed started."
The Body pointed around them. "I'm still using the old quota; I haven't taken any extra energy from you."
"I know." Li Zhiyuan raised the can at the Body and asked, "Got a result yet?"
"You shouldn't be asking such a stupid question."
"I know there's no result."
"Then why ask?"
"So I can ask you to swap out your brain. No need to stay wound this tight all the time."
