Chen Xing knew how much force she was using. She was already going easy on him.

But nightingale could barely take it. He didn’t say a word about the pain, but the sweat beading on his forehead was proof enough that he was enduring agony.

Once the pressure eased, he could finally breathe properly, but his tone remained scornful. "Hmph... My secrets are what make me valuable. If I told you what I’m for, you think I’d get out of here alive? If you’re so capable, then capture me and study me!"

"You think I’m interested in what makes you valuable?" Chen Xing’s tone was just as mocking.

’Besides, I don’t know much to begin with, so I don’t care about knowing one less thing. As far as I’m concerned, nightingale is completely expendable.’

nightingale didn’t buy it. "Not interested? Then why did you come all the way out here?"

"Because I’m interested in 00007!"

"You know 00007?" A flicker of humanity finally crossed nightingale’s face, and his bloodthirsty aura momentarily disappeared.

Chen Xing watched him.

"What’s 00007 like? Can you let me meet him?" nightingale’s face was alight with excitement, like a wanderer who had finally found his way home after a long journey.

"Impossible! Is 00007 someone a small fry like you gets to meet?"

The bloodthirsty aura that had vanished instantly returned to nightingale. "I even spent years painstakingly studying the Huaxia language just for the chance to meet 00007. What a waste..."

As he spun, a razor blade appeared between his lips. But before it could touch Chen Xing, a sharp pain shot through his arm, and his entire right arm was dislocated.

"Shit!" nightingale was tough. He didn’t so much as scream in pain and, with two quick rolls, he was out of Chen Xing’s range.

"I’ll get you for this!" With that, he turned to flee.

But just then, Captain Rick and his men appeared ahead, blocking his path.

From another direction, Liang Yuncheng also arrived with his men.

They had all come running after hearing the gunshots.

Chen Xing had already heard their approaching footsteps, which was why she hadn’t bothered to give chase.

Liang Yuncheng didn’t seem particularly surprised to see Chen Xing.

Yang Ruibin and his men, on the other hand, were all gaping in shock. "You... you’re not dead?" After a beat, he remembered Captain Lu. "Does that mean Captain Lu isn’t dead either?"

’What a fucking headache!’

’I can’t believe Captain Lu is that hard to kill.’

Chen Xing ignored him, her gaze fixed on nightingale.

Captain Rick had said they had spent several years trying to capture nightingale.

’I’d like to see how he plans to escape from all these people with a dislocated arm.’

Yang Ruibin was speechless, his expression turning ugly.

"Hey, I’m talking to you! Are you deaf?"

Liang Yuncheng pulled at Yang Ruibin’s sleeve. "Capturing nightingale is more important!"

Yang Ruibin could only shoot Chen Xing a glare before turning his attention to the injured nightingale. "nightingale, you’re in this state, why are you still trying to run? Just surrender quietly."

Captain Rick, however, didn’t dare let his guard down. He turned and whispered to his men, "Get ready for a hell of a fight!"

’nightingale could escape with a broken leg, let alone a dislocated arm.’

’That bastard... the madman isn’t afraid to die. He’ll risk it all.’

’They’re at a huge disadvantage since they have to capture him alive.’

A bloodthirsty grin spread across nightingale’s lips, but his eyes were fixed on Chen Xing in a clear challenge.

’As long as I stay out of her reach, I have a thousand ways to escape.’

Chen Xing just watched quietly, not responding at all.

Liang Yuncheng was determined to get nightingale and was the first to charge forward with his men.

’Is he trying to steal our capture?’

Seeing this, Captain Rick couldn’t afford to hesitate. He immediately led his men to encircle nightingale as well.

He was far more cautious than Liang Yuncheng’s team, not daring to underestimate the threat.

nightingale was extremely cunning, and his entire body was a walking arsenal.

Even on occasions when he’d been captured and a thorough search found no weapons, he had still managed to kill someone and escape with ease.

Just as the two teams closed in, nightingale made his move. In a flash, a Smoke Bomb appeared in his hand. He threw it forward and bolted out of the encirclement in the same motion.

Chen Xing was silent. She looked at her own hands in disgust.

’Did my hand touch his?’

’Thankfully, I only touched his arm. But even that is enough to make me want to retch.’

The others might not have seen it, but she saw exactly what nightingale had just done.

The guy had reached toward his backside, and a Smoke Bomb had simply appeared in his hand.

’There’s no way he could have hidden it in his clothes, or Rick would have confiscated it long ago.’

’As for where it *was* hidden... I’d rather not think about it.’

In a flash, she darted around the smoke and went after nightingale.

’Disgusted or not, he still had to be caught.’

"nightingale..." Just as nightingale found a hidden thicket and, enduring the pain, popped his arm back into its socket, he heard a voice that made his blood run cold.

He looked up in shock, only to see Chen Xing standing a meter away, staring at him with a look of utter indifference.

nightingale was speechless. For the first time in his life, he felt true fear.

It was also the first time he’d come so close to death.

The girl before him appeared indifferent, but her eyes were cold enough to kill. "You... How did you find me?"

He was surprised to find himself so terrified that his voice trembled involuntarily.

"I followed you." The response was not arrogant, just delivered with that same chilling indifference.

It was that damned indifference that filled him with terror.

’Shouldn’t a normal person, especially a girl, be scared to death when facing a Killing Demon?’

"So, are you going to let me tie you up nicely, or do I have to beat you senseless before I tie you up?" Chen Xing had no problem with getting physical.

’But honestly, I’m just disgusted by him.’

’Who knows where that hand has been?’

nightingale stared at Chen Xing as if he were looking at a Devil.

’I have a feeling I won’t be able to escape her grasp.’

’But I’m a world-renowned killer. It would be too humiliating to surrender without a fight.’

Just as he was about to risk it all in one last struggle, the sound of arguing erupted from the woods.

It was Yang Ruibin’s furious roar. "Stop fucking bossing me around! Before we left, the Military Brigade Commander said I’m in charge! The only reason I haven’t put you in your place is because I don’t want any more trouble, not because I’m fucking scared of you! So don’t push your damn luck! It’s just catching one guy, nightingale. That coward Rick might be afraid of him, but I’m not!"

"Yang Ruibin... you know... I was planning to let you live a little longer. But... you just keep screwing things up. So don’t blame me for what I’m about to do."

"What, are you turning on me now? You’re going to kill me in front of all our brothers? You think the Military Brigade Commander won’t hold you accountable if you do? Do you have any idea how much he values me?"

Liang Yuncheng let out a cold laugh, his eyes tinged with pity as he looked at Yang Ruibin. "Vice Yang, do you know why a waste of space like you was brought on this mission? It’s because the Military Brigade Commander finds you completely useless. He ordered me to get rid of you at the same time I kill Captain Lu!"

"W-what did you just say?" Yang Ruibin was in disbelief.

The Military Brigade Commander relied on him so much! How could he possibly be willing to let him die? "That’s absolutely impossible!"

Seeing his dumbfounded expression, Liang Yuncheng’s lips curved into a pitying smile. "Remember the sanatorium incident? The Military Brigade Commander told you to be extremely careful, but you still managed to make Captain Lu suspicious of you. And because of that, suspicion fell on the Commander himself..."
