Chapter 29: Chapter 29: A True Fan

Seeing that Song Yiguo had arrived, Chen Xing stopped knocking and instead led the others away at a run.

As she ran, she asked, "Does this building have any other entrances?"

Song Yiguo was a little confused but answered her directly. "There’s an entrance to the underground garage, but it’s been sealed off."

"Take us there!" Chen Xing felt this was the only way to enter the building while causing the least amount of damage.

After circling more than halfway around the building, they found a sturdy, automatic security door.

With zombies trailing them, Chen Xing didn’t hesitate. She walked right up to it and threw a punch.

The punch was incredibly powerful, making the security door ring with a loud CLANG.

"What do you think you’re doing?" Yan Junxi immediately tried to stop her. "If the door’s broken, we won’t be safe inside!"

Chen Xing didn’t explain. She just threw another punch.

With a groaning CRACK, the security door instantly split apart at the lock.

Seeing the door open, the others stopped asking questions and swarmed inside.

Song Yiguo led the way, making a beeline for the stairwell.

Once inside the stairwell, they locked the heavy door behind them.

The pursuing zombies slammed against the door but failed to cause any damage.

Chen Xing had chosen not to destroy the main entrance precisely because she’d noticed how sturdy the doors in this building were.

’It’s good to have a safe place to hide.’

’As for the elevator... if the people in the building aren’t afraid of dying and decide to use it, that’s none of my business.’

Now that they were safe, Chen Xing didn’t hold back. "The family in 1902 didn’t want us to get in. They changed the passcode!"

’Since I have a valuable asset like Song Yiguo available, there’s no reason not to use him.’

’He might not be as effective as he once was, but it’s guaranteed to put pressure on Hao Wenli and her group.’

After that phone call from Song Yiguo’s assistant, Xiao Liu, she had specifically gone online to research the Song Family.

The results were eye-opening. The Song Family’s influence was not to be underestimated; for generations, they had made significant contributions in various fields, consistently holding positions of great importance.

She remembered that years into the apocalypse, one of the country’s major factions was led by someone named Song. It was almost certainly this same Song Family.

Song Yiguo’s handsome brow furrowed, his expression turning cold with disbelief. "Are you saying they deliberately refused to open the main entrance?" He’d just assumed no one was there to answer.

"How dare they?" Yan Junxi was livid.

’They dared to block even Song Yiguo? Do they have a death wish?’

Now it seemed that when Song Yiguo had been looking for help in the building for the pregnant woman, they had deliberately hidden and stayed silent, forcing him to risk going outside to ask Chen Xing for help.

"When I left yesterday, besides the family in 1902, they’d taken in two other women. And in the middle of the night, many more people trickled in..." Chen Xing trailed off, not revealing everything.

’With so many people showing up suddenly, the missing items from the supermarket don’t even need an explanation.’

"Let’s go home first," Song Yiguo said, his sculpted face radiating a chilling coldness.

The underground garage originally had an elevator with direct access to the top floor, but it had been sealed off earlier due to the danger.

To get home, they had to go to the first-floor lobby and take the private elevator up.

Before the group even reached the first floor, they heard a cacophony from above. It sounded like a lot of people.

Song Yiguo’s expression grew even darker.

’Do the people from Room 1902 really think this building belongs to them?’

Chen Xing was the first to push open the stairwell door. She was met with the sight of no fewer than a hundred people squatting and sitting all over the place. There were even some mischievous older kids aiming slingshots everywhere.

It was so noisy that only a few people near the entrance noticed the stairwell door opening.

One timid person saw the door open, assumed it was a threat, and let out a sharp shriek, drawing everyone’s attention.

"Hey, isn’t that the mukbang girl?" someone recognized Chen Xing instantly.

"You’re right, it’s the mukbang streamer!" Immediately, a crowd gathered around, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Chen Xing was speechless. ’My view count is high, sure, but it’s only been two days. There’s no way this many people would recognize me, right?’

But from the looks of it, most of the people in here did know who she was.

She immediately glanced upstairs.

’It was almost certainly Hao Wenli who leaked that I live here, or maybe she deliberately lured them over. As for her motive? It’s nothing good, that’s for sure!’

Her face cold, Chen Xing walked around the crowd and headed for the private elevator.

The men followed close behind her.

Yan Junxi kept his head down, sticking close to Song Yiguo.

But even then, someone recognized him. "It’s Yan Junxi... Xixi..." The person started to lunge forward.

Hearing Yan Junxi’s name, the crowd was no longer as calm as they’d been with Chen Xing. Now, they all looked like a pack of hungry tigers.

Song Yiguo’s eyes were sharp and his hands were faster; he pulled Yan Junxi behind him protectively.

Seeing this, Captain Lu and his soldier immediately moved in, flanking Yan Junxi and ushering him forward quickly.

’Now these are some true fans.’

Chen Xing immediately pressed the elevator button. Captain Lu and the young soldier were the last to get in.

"How could so many people have gathered here?" Yan Junxi was dumbfounded.

He and Song Yiguo had chosen to live in this building precisely because it was rarely crowded, highly secure, and extremely private.

Now it was as chaotic as a public market, filled with all sorts of people.

Back in their apartment, Song Yiguo went into a room to make a call while Yan Junxi went online to check the situation.

As he expected, within just a few minutes, his name was already on the list of trending topics.

The headlines started with his appearance in a certain building. But after a few refreshes, they had changed to: Yan Junxi and Mukbang Influencer Spotted in Same Building. The topic was gaining traction almost as fast as the doomsday prophecies.

If he let it go, the headlines would only get more and more scandalous.

Yan Junxi shot Chen Xing a dirty look. "You’re an internet celebrity? Why didn’t you say so sooner?" ’If she weren’t so conspicuous, we could have slipped by quietly instead of causing such a commotion.’

"You didn’t tell me you were a celebrity, either!" Chen Xing felt he was being completely unreasonable.

’Was I supposed to introduce myself by saying, "Hi, I’m an internet celebrity"?’

Besides, she didn’t even consider herself a real celebrity. People had just happened to see her video and recognize her.

Yan Junxi was speechless. Utterly, completely, and totally speechless.

’I’m a celebrity. Is there anyone on the planet who doesn’t know that?’

"You’re just being ridiculous. Who in the entire country doesn’t know who I am?"

Chen Xing stared right back at him, her gaze completely ordinary, as if looking at any other person.

Yan Junxi was speechless again. ’This girl really has no idea who I am!?’

He felt instantly crushed.

"Seriously? For real?" he asked, unable to accept it.

Even little kids in kindergarten and old grandmas knew who he was...

The young soldier seemed to find it unbelievable too. "Chen Xing, you really don’t know Yan the Superstar?"

Not wanting to argue with Yan Junxi any longer, Chen Xing walked over to the monitor screen.

’Does it really matter if he’s a celebrity or not?’

’The priority right now is to survive, and to live well!’

’Of course, I absolutely can’t let the people in Room 1902 get away with this!’

She was certain it was Hao Wenli who had refused to open the door. The Hu family, on their own, wouldn’t have dared to deny entry to Song Yiguo.

’Since Hao Wenli has already made a move against me, I can’t possibly disappoint her, can I?’

Just then, the figures of the Hu family, along with Hao Wenli and Du Yina, appeared on the monitor. As soon as he was in view of the camera, Mr. Hu suddenly dropped to his knees and began kowtowing repeatedly.
