Chapter 188: Chapter 185: You Are Not the Nation’s Girlfriend

General Song was in his military uniform. Even in his sixties, he still cut a heroic figure.

He shook her hand politely before inviting Chen Xing to sit, showing none of the arrogance or rudeness of a man in power.

"I asked you here because of my son, Song Yiguo... *Sigh*..." General Song let out a sigh.

With Yan Junxi’s disappearance, he had finally come to truly understand his son’s feelings for him.

It wasn’t something he could simply break apart just because he wanted to.

For a moment, he was on the verge of blurting out that if Yan Junxi returned safely, he would let them be.

’The old man must know I’m Song Yiguo’s fake girlfriend,’ Chen Xing thought.

"You’re not Song Yiguo’s girlfriend!" Sure enough, General Song exposed her with his very next sentence.

Chen Xing nodded. "I’m sorry!" Deceiving someone was, after all, her fault.

"I was the one who pushed him too hard, forcing him to use you as a shield. I’m the one who should be apologizing!" General Song was also filled with sorrow.

It had only been a few days since Yan Junxi went missing, and Song Yiguo was already searching for him with reckless abandon.

His wife, heartbroken over their son, had fallen ill as well.

"Sir, what is it you mean? Please just tell me directly!" Chen Xing felt that General Song hadn’t called her here just to force her to admit she was a fake girlfriend.

"I hope you can go to the Bao Lai Safety Zone! I know it’s a difficult thing to ask, but you’re very powerful. I know you’ve saved Song Yiguo several times!" General Song found it incredibly hard to ask a slender young woman to save his son, but he had no choice but to swallow his pride.

It wasn’t just Song Yiguo who had spoken of how formidable Chen Xing was.

He was also aware of the Lu Family’s various moves.

"This sudden news about Yan Junxi... I think it’s a trap! I tried to persuade him, but he wouldn’t listen! He originally wanted to ask for your help, but he couldn’t reach you by phone at the time, so he rushed over with Vice General Du first! I’m worried about his safety, which is why I’ve shamelessly asked you to make this trip!"

For a man who had always acted impartially and never let personal feelings interfere, this took a great deal of courage.

Chen Xing, however, was straightforward, replying with a single word: "Okay!"

’It seems the old general has accepted his son’s relationship,’ she thought.

The journey between Bao Lai City and the Capital City was about four hours, but the snow on the roads would cause some delays.

She didn’t say much more to General Song. She immediately went back, gathered Number 00002 and the others, and set off with Meng Hu.

Secretary Liu was very familiar with the various safety zones, so he got in the vehicle as well to lead the way.

The beginning of the journey was relatively peaceful.

Although there was some snow, they could still travel at a good pace.

About halfway through the trip, snowflakes began to drift down from the sky, and the light snow quickly turned into a heavy blizzard.

Amidst the blanket of white, Chen Xing spotted a head poking out not far ahead.

She immediately called for Li Chen to take the wheel.

A confused Li Chen ran over and took the steering wheel.

"Keep driving, I’ll catch up!" Leaping out of the vehicle, Chen Xing darted to the side and disappeared into a low-lying area beside the main road.

Secretary Liu: "..."

The vehicle had just started moving again when its side was slammed violently.

If Li Chen hadn’t had a firm grip on the steering wheel, the vehicle could have easily flipped over.

The two people in the RV trailer behind them weren’t so lucky; they were thrown against the wall by the impact.

A large black bear appeared from out of nowhere and started ramming the RV it was chasing.

If the RV hadn’t been reinforced with protective plating all around, it would have been smashed to pieces.

Chen Xing, who had been on her way to ambush the enemies ahead, saw the black bear attacking the RV. With a few leaps, she was beside the bear and finished it off with a single slash of her blade.

It was a large black bear that hadn’t mutated yet. It had probably attacked the vehicle out of extreme hunger.

Chen Xing moved away from the RV once more.

At that moment, the people hiding in the shadows revealed themselves.

They were all dressed in ordinary clothes, looking like common civilians.

But their postures were perfectly straight; a single glance told you they were former soldiers.

And looking at their synchronized movements and the powerful way they gathered their superpowers in their palms, they were clearly not just ordinary soldiers.

Chen Xing, fearing their superpowers might damage the RV, unleashed a current of electricity at the group from a distance.

Everyone who was hit collapsed to the ground.

So Chen Xing fired off several more in quick succession.

However, because she was too far away, the current’s power wasn’t at its maximum. It only managed to knock them down.

After a moment, they got up one by one, warily searching for their target.

Chen Xing was a bit closer now, and the men spotted her.

But before they could unleash their superpowers, Chen Xing successfully took them all down.

The RV passed through safely. Just as Chen Xing was about to relax and catch up, she heard the RUMBLING and chaotic noise of motorcycles.

Following the sound, she saw over a dozen snowmobiles speeding toward the RV across the white, snowy landscape.

’Ooh, nice!’

Chen Xing’s eyes lit up when she saw the snowmobiles.

’It’s going to snow from time to time in the future, which will make driving a real pain. Wouldn’t it be great to have a snowmobile?’

She immediately pulled an iron cable from her storage space, anchored one end on her side of the road, and stretched it across to the other.

On the smooth ground, it was impossible to see anything amiss.

The snowmobile team charged forward without a care in the world.

As their front skis were lifted, seven or eight snowmobiles were flipped over at once.

The remaining riders saw what happened and slammed on their brakes, narrowly escaping the disaster.

Hiding behind a tree, Chen Xing began to release her electricity.

She found this electrical current to be quite useful; it saved her the trouble of close-quarters combat.

Besides, she had a massive reserve of electrical energy, so it was almost no drain on her at all.

One blast of current took down several of them. The rest became frightened and huddled together to face the threat.

Chen Xing took advantage of their panic, launched another surprise blast of electricity, and knocked down a few more.

This time, the remaining few spotted her.

Unfortunately for them, Chen Xing was faster. After firing another current from her palm, she pulled out a gun and finished them off one by one.

In an instant, she had not only obtained the Crystal Cores from over a dozen Superpower Users, but also their dozen or so snowmobiles.

After happily stowing the snowmobiles away, she kept one for herself and took off in pursuit of the RV.

The RV was having a difficult time up ahead.

The snow was falling heavily, and the road surface had become rough and uneven.

Soon, Chen Xing caught up.

After loading the snowmobile into the small garage at the back of the RV’s cargo section, they continued on their way.

A little over two hours later, they arrived at the Bao Lai Safety Zone.

The Bao Lai Safety Zone was built by hollowing out a stone mountain, making it incredibly sturdy.

The main gate was constructed from a special steel plate, a full half-meter thick.

They knocked on the gate for a long time and waited even longer before someone finally came out. "You say you’re looking for Young Master Song, Song Yiguo?"

Although his attitude was reasonably friendly, the arrogance in his heart was plain to see.

’Maybe he’s used to seeing high-ranking officials?’

Chen Xing didn’t think much of it.

This was where Secretary Liu came in handy. "That’s right. Young Master Song left two hours before us, so he should have arrived by now! General Song should have notified you before we left!"

The man, however, shook his head. "We haven’t had any visitors here for a long time!"
