Chapter 135: Chapter 132: Sensing Danger

Chen Xing quietly unlocked the door, pulled it open, and walked straight out. "What is it? I was just a bit constipated!"

"I was knocking for ages and you didn’t answer. I thought something was wrong!"

"Well, thank you for your concern!" Chen Xing shot her a look before walking away.

The woman was speechless. ’Why did it feel like my concern was completely unnecessary?’

’Sigh... I was just trying to get on a powerful person’s good side. It would be nice if we could all help each other out in the future.’

As the wedding drew to a close, King Baya and his Princess came down from the stage amidst a chorus of blessings. "Thank you, everyone! Thank you! We still have plenty of food prepared, so please enjoy yourselves to the fullest tonight..."

Although the old man had been through a lot that day, his mood was still excellent as he gazed at his lovely young wife.

After all, he had married the most beautiful woman in Baya, who was only twenty-six years old.

"Bad news, Your Majesty! Bad news! Our supply warehouse has been robbed..." a soldier reported, scrambling frantically down from the upper floor.

King Baya’s brow furrowed the moment he heard the words "bad news."

’Today is my wedding day! I haven’t even consummated the marriage yet, and someone’s already shouting about bad news. What a terrible omen!’

"What happened? Why are you making such a scene?" He tried not to look too grim in front of all his guests.

He fixed the soldier with an intimidating gaze.

Seeing the King’s dark expression, the soldier didn’t dare use any more ill-omened words and got straight to the point. "All of our supplies have been stolen! They’ve vanished!"

King Baya was speechless.

He couldn’t believe it.

’The supply warehouse is on the top floor. To steal anything, they’d have to pass through this main hall.’

’Forget taking everything—they would’ve been spotted just taking a single crate.’

"Speak clearly! Explain yourself properly!"

The soldier stopped trying to explain and simply showed King Baya a video on his phone.

He had just gone upstairs to grab some supplies that needed replenishing, only to find the room completely empty. He had filmed this right after discovering it.

Only then did King Baya see that his precious warehouse was truly empty.

Forgetting all about his wedding night, he broke into a run toward the elevator.

When he came back down, he looked as if he had aged a dozen years in an instant.

He looked like an old man with one foot in the grave.

"Excuse me, everyone. I seem to have lost something. I hope you’ll all cooperate and refrain from leaving for the moment!" King Baya was still managing to stay relatively calm.

He knew everyone here was a suspect, but he didn’t dare offend any of them, so he spoke in a placating tone.

The guests exchanged glances but were generally cooperative.

Commander Kelin, in particular, spoke up. "Everyone’s been in the main hall this whole time, correct? Let’s all think back and see if anyone left."

With Commander Kelin saying so, the leaders from the smaller countries certainly didn’t dare to object.

"We have the surveillance footage!" a soldier announced, carrying over a laptop. He played the recording of the wedding banquet from start to finish.

"During this time, Miss Chen disappeared. We don’t know where she went." It was Commander Kelin who pointed out Chen Xing’s absence.

It was as if he had been staring only at her the entire time he watched the footage.

"I went to the restroom."

"You were in the restroom for nearly ten minutes?" King Baya was desperate to find the culprit so he could get his things back.

Chen Xing looked at him coolly. "Is it against the law to be constipated?"

King Baya now looked like he was the one who was constipated.

’It’s perfectly normal for a constipated person to be in the bathroom for half an hour.’

"How can you prove you were constipated?"

Chen Xing sneered. "Next time I go to the bathroom, should I announce over a loudspeaker that I’m constipated?"

"I can prove it! She really was constipated. I was worried about Miss Chen, so I went into the restroom too. She was in there the whole time!" It was the woman she had met at the restroom earlier.

’Right now,’ Chen Xing thought, ’she’s not so annoying after all.’

King Baya was speechless. Even after watching the entire video, they couldn’t find a single suspect.

"From start to finish, Miss Chen was the one who was gone the longest. Naturally, she’s the most suspicious!" Commander Kelin insisted, targeting Chen Xing.

Before Chen Xing could even retort, someone else spoke up in her defense.

"We have no idea how much you had in your warehouse, but regardless of the amount, how could a single young woman steal it all and carry it away? Don’t tell me Baling Country’s entire supply cache can be stuffed into a pocket? Was it such a small amount that it was even worth stealing in the first place?"

"Exactly! We came to offer our congratulations, and now we’re being treated like suspects and detained? Every single one of us here is a person of status and reputation!"

"Locking us up and not letting us leave... I’m starting to think the King had something to do with the ambush on Miss Chen earlier!"

"..."

King Baya was speechless. ’Commander Kelin was the one who said it, so why is everyone blaming me?’

He forced an apologetic smile onto his aged face, trying to placate the crowd. "We meant no offense, I hope you won’t misunderstand! I only made a rash decision because I was anxious about my lost property!"

’This is so humiliating,’ he thought.

’I’m the one who was robbed, and now I have to grovel and apologize?’

"Your anxiety doesn’t give you the right to falsely accuse us!"

"We’re only letting this slide because it’s the apocalypse! Otherwise, we wouldn’t be so forgiving! You’re not just insulting me; you’re insulting my entire country..."

"You are all correct! With so much missing, it clearly wasn’t the work of an ordinary thief! I am deeply sorry. I will arrange for your departure at once!" King Baya humbled himself completely.

Seeing how sincere King Baya seemed, the guests stopped making things difficult for him.

’Maybe he really did lose his things... or maybe he never had them in the first place?’

’Whatever.’

’It’s best not to form an alliance with someone like him in the future.’

Amidst King Baya’s apologies, the guests finally began to depart one by one.

When Chen Xing and Song Yiguo got outside, they found the road blocked by a long line of unmoving cars.

Even though their hotels were nearby, everyone had driven over because of the attack on Chen Xing at noon. No one wanted to take any chances.

Chen Xing looked out at the pitch-black street. It was shrouded in a layer of mist, giving her the unsettling feeling that they were about to be attacked.

Just as she was focusing her senses, she perceived danger.

A bullet shot through the window from outside, but she dodged it in a flash.

The bullet embedded itself in the leather seat right between her and Song Yiguo.

"Shit!" By the time Song Yiguo reacted, Chen Xing had already leaped out of the car.

Bullets rained down, riddling the car’s interior.

Thankfully, he managed to get out of the car in time as well.

He ran forward, following close behind Chen Xing.

Bullets and all sorts of superpowers rained down on them as if they were free.

One moment he saw Chen Xing right in front of him, and in the blink of an eye, she was gone.

He glanced back at the other leaders. They were trapped, not knowing what to do—hiding in their cars was dangerous, but they were even more terrified of being killed if they got out.

But with the cars jamming the road, no one was moving at all.

Meanwhile, Chen Xing had already managed to slip away from her attackers’ sight.

This was bad news for Song Yiguo.

With Chen Xing gone, the assassins turned their focus to Song Yiguo.

Vice General Du and the Three Wang Brothers arrived, protecting him as they fought their way forward, fending off attacks and taking down enemies.

Meanwhile, Chen Xing had circled around to the perimeter. She began picking off the Situ family’s minions one by one, eliminating most of them, including the previously vanished Feng Kai.

She didn’t know Feng Kai by name, but his face was vaguely familiar.

There were a few other familiar faces. She wasn’t picky—anyone she laid eyes on was sent to meet their maker.

The few remaining assassins on the other side of the firefight had no idea she was even there, let alone that she was killing their comrades.

By now, Song Yiguo, protected by Vice General Du and the others, had safely broken through the gridlocked traffic and was almost at the hotel.

’I have to get to the hotel before Song Yiguo, no matter what!’
