[FROLO]

The choice wasn’t really a choice.

They both understood it so well. But Sergei was not going to just sit and hope things worked for him, and Boris was painfully aware of that, yet even with the knowledge he had...

"No. The funding stays. You can do your worst," Boris said confidently as he looked at Zhenya.

He had Zhenya here.

Sergei wouldn’t hurt him... Right?

"Boris..." Sergei began.

"You did this to yourself, Sergei. You came after government infrastructure. You burnt people in Frolo. You’ve committed the kind of sins no one should forgive.

"And today you and your bickering gang of psychos deserve all the hell Aleksandr is about to unleash on all of you. My Chief, Zhenya, is also on the plan.

"You have no escape," Boris said, not once stopping despite Zhenya trying to keep him from adding more stupid shit.

Boris was a little too confident for his own good, and Zhenya was watching, like he wasn’t even sure what the fuck he had gotten himself into with this president who clearly had verbal diarrhea.

Sergei, on the other hand, just looked at him as if to ask him if he was sure about this. He needed to be on the same page as the man because this wasn’t something hard for Sergei.

He was actually giving the president a chance.

Katya always believed in forgiveness and resolving things with dialogue first where possible.

And Sergei...

He wanted to be a better man for his Solnyshka.

Which was why, instead of killing the president just yet, he was opting for dialogue. Because the president could simply take that shit back and get out of the chaos between Sergei and Aleksandr.

But now...

Boris was not cooperating.

And Sergei was proud of himself.

He knew Katya would be proud of him for considering dialogue first. At least with this, if shit escalated. It wasn’t because Sergei hadn’t tried to be reasonable.

He really had.

"Is that your answer? Because I came here with two options. You pull the funding, and we leave. Or you don’t, and I kill you with my bare hands," Sergei said calmly, cracking his knuckles.

The soldiers in the room straightened up.

Sergei had just made a direct threat.

The bickering idiots at the door turned to the soldiers with creepy smiles on their faces as they pulled out the most mundane things from places no one would have the right to look.

The thin strings that they casually pulled from their pockets like it was just another day.

The lasers hidden inside their hairs.

Hands that casually shifted from human hands to wolf claws without fully shifting into wolves.

The undetectable blades that were in some of their boots.

The soldiers in the room watched in horror as the Moskowsky psychos assembled with their weapons and could honestly imagine them getting off the pressure plate and blocking up everyone here suddenly.

It wasn’t a sad way to die.

Because the soldiers knew them.

They knew this team and these little accessories they had come with were not going to just sit by and wait for them to even load their weapons properly.

"You heard the man, Sergei. Let go and get going," Zhenya said as he got off the bed, cracking his knuckles too.

He was here and the president’s chief of security.

Of course this was not going to be just him sitting there while his cheating boyfriend got his ass handed over. Not to mention the soldiers in their room who were most definitely depending on him to keep them safe.

"I’ll ask one last time. For the sake of the lesson I learned from my Solnyshka on humanity.

"Are you sure you want to do this... Because you know once I kill you, you’re dead-dead. Not dead-resurrecting," Sergei said, and Boris just smirked at him.

He had Zhenya.

Sergei could do nothing to him.

At the door...

"I’ll get out and drag more bodies to this place so we can move," Meera volunteered, and the psychos stared at her excitedly.

"What if we all blow up? Would be nice to paint these white walls with blood," Reeves said suddenly, like he didn’t see anything wrong with the idea.

"I think you’re right, the walls are too bright," Rastenkin said, and Sergei just sighed tiredly.

He wasn’t even surprised when Rastenkin suddenly used one of the strings he had and tied their legs together, intentionally tripping them forward. And like sacks of human bodies, the psychos fell right inside the room and off the pressure plate.

"We didn’t blow up?" Rastenkin asked, clearly disappointed at the outcome.

The soldiers tried to come closer, now that the group seemed to be tangled and down on the floor.

And that...

That was a mistake.

Because the moment they got close, the Moskowsky psychos got up and out of the hold they were in so casually, as if it was just another game for them. And began fighting the soldiers.

The explosive in the wall also didn’t go off because Zhenya turned off the detonator, making everything stop.

Well, not the Moskowsky team that was fighting the soldiers in the room again.

Zhenya, however, did not move from his position. He still stared at Sergei as if to tell him that the president was not to be touched.

But Sergei hadn’t come this far for nothing.

"Looks like it’s you and I now, Levin. You can try protecting him, if it’s any comfort for you, but he has until I break your first bone to decide. Otherwise, he is a dead man," Sergei said, and Zhenya stepped forward.

While Boris just stared, still confident about the fight.

He knew Zhenya would handle Sergei anyway.

And maybe that confidence made the president a careless man.

Just maybe.

"You know, Sergei, you shouldn’t always put that little omega at the centre of your universe. I hear he is back at work.

"And you being older than him, it’s just a matter of time before he finds someone younger. Better than you could ever be," Boris said.

Zhenya stiffened at the mention of his nephew.

Sergei didn’t look at the president.

He just stayed focused on Zhenya, who was stuck between gritting his teeth and throwing the first punch.

"Your little pet has a mouth on him, Zhenya," Sergei chuckled darkly.

Boris should have stopped.

But confidence...

Goodness.

"I’m not the one inside a private hospital ward committing murder over my son’s husband. Did you know he lost his child in captivity?

"No... Not lost. His body was what... Too weak to handle it? To bear children?" Boris ran his mouth.

The world stilled.

Bodies inside the room dropped faster than the president could even take the next breath.

Still...

Oh, Zhenya.

"Since you think you can kill me when my alpha is right here, I’ll be honest with you and watch my alpha kick your ass. You’ve spent the entire week going after the wrong people.

"I did it... I sent them all to that defective omega. You listen to the omega pretty well, and I knew you would listen if Katya told you to stay back. And look what we got.

"You actually stayed back," Boris said a little confidently, his laughter a mockery of Sergei’s reality.

His soldiers’ bodies were on the floor, something that didn’t surprise him.

He had already gotten used to so much death, and he didn’t mind at this point.

"What?" Zhenya asked in shock.

"I knew you would stop me, alpha. I wanted to make Sergei feel how I feel each time he kills people in the city. Even that therapist he took out so cruelly.

"So I exacted revenge for everyone. I approved it when Tyler Blackwater came to me with the idea. He knew you wouldn’t approve it, so I did," Boris added.

Zhenya faltered.

"Are you proud of me... daddy?" President Boris asked, keening like he was waiting for praise.

Like what he had said had rewritten everything that both men and the psychos had believed in for three months now.

It was Boris?

Boris?

Sergei... Breathed.

"You cheated and murdered an innocent?" Zhenya asked in disgust.

"I’m sorry I cheated. I’m not sorry I did what I did to that omega, though. My city has been in shambles since that little shit became important to Sergei here," Boris said without remorse.

Then the door opened.

Tyler Blackwater.

"Oh hey, Tyler, come in. It’s time to tell Sergei what we did to his precious omega. Don’t worry, my Zhenya will protec—"

Zhenya slapped the president’s head off his body.

And Tyler...

He ran.

"I’ll start crippling the Blackwaters. Meet me when you can," Zhenya said quietly and defeatedly.

Then he left.

Sergei didn’t cry this time.

Or even growl.

He just...

Stared.

"Yeah, I am... NOT... driving us home," Rastenkin said when he saw Sergei fall to his knees.
