Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 383: Won’t You Drink From The Source…
[FROLO]
The board meeting was going fine. Sure, Sergei missed seeing his Solnyshka sitting at the head of the table, but he was glad Katya was happy at Romanov Steel.
When he’d driven him to work today, his Solnyshka had spent the ride yapping about a new project he was working on with Greg, one that he was so excited about.
And Sergei had never been happier.
That was what he had fought for.
That excitement.
That pure happiness.
That choice and desire.
He had been proud of Katya, and he knew he always would be.
Even now as he chaired the meeting, as he listened to executives speak, as Anya and Volkov sat there with him. He was just happy his Katya was doing well.
And of course, the meeting was progressing well.
Until his phone vibrated.
At first, he ignored it. After all, everyone in his life knew better than to text him. Sergei didn’t know shit about smartphones, and Katya had been kind enough to always call unless it was urgent, which Anya would have known; he would not bother.
But then his phone chimed again.
Twice.
Sergei sighed.
"Keep going," he said to the shareholder who was speaking before he took out his phone, the one thing he didn’t feel like staring at right now.
But the moment he opened it, Sergei Moskowsky almost died.
Was it almost, or was he dead?
The alpha had never frozen that fast.
Yeah, this was not good at all.
At the end of the table, Anya stared at him worriedly, the white on his face something that she could swear she had never seen on Sergei.
She noticed the clenched fists, the way he was gripping his phone tightly. And Anya prepared herself for a meeting adjournment.
Meanwhile, Sergei’s focus hadn’t shifted from the phone.
"Vladimirrrr... I’m bored on my break," the first message read, and Sergei almost smiled.
Then he looked at the second one.
"Are you in a meeting, alpha?" There was a pouty emoji at the end of that one.
But that wasn’t the end.
"Okay, since you’re not answering, I’ll just assume you’re in a meeting," Katya said, and Sergei let out a sigh of relief.
Then his phone chimed again.
"I’m going swimming today."
Sergei stilled.
"Help me pick a swimsuit when you see this, alpha."
Harmless message.
Very harmless.
Until the photos came.
And Sergei gripped the phone so hard that it broke.
"What?" he asked, staring at the now-dead phone.
In the boardroom, everyone stared, scared. They had never seen Sergei that unstable. They’d never seen Sergei break a phone like it was just a piece of paper he was crumpling.
And they’d never seen the emotion that passed across his face.
"Get me another phone. Now," Sergei spoke stiffly, struggling to keep himself composed.
Turning to the board, he noticed they were silent.
"The meeting isn’t over; why the fuck are you all looking at me? Keep the fucking meeting going!" he said, waiting impatiently for the phone Volkov had gone to get him.
Since Sergei began dating Katya Romanov openly, Anya and Volkov had synced his data onto different phones like they knew the madman would eventually break one for some reason.
And today was just proof of it all.
So, when Volkov walked in and gave the alpha the new phone, he didn’t even look worried because the data had long been replicated there.
Any message that came in on one would be on all the phones, making it easier to understand the madman’s tendency to break one whenever he decided to slap heads off in his meeting.
And of course, the meeting continued, while Sergei stared at the phone in his hand, confused to see that the data was all here, almost like he hadn’t just broken one phone.
He wouldn’t think of that.
Technology was shit.
And technology was definitely the weapon formed against him.
Or was that Katya Romanov?
"I think I’ll go with the second one, alpha. I look beautiful in it, don’t you think?" Katya added.
And Sergei...
The alpha didn’t excuse himself as he stared at the images of Katya in the damn swimsuits.
There was a white one, which—
Gods, Sergei couldn’t even think straight.
So, he dialed his omega.
"Where the fuck are you?" Sergei spoke, and the room went silent.
He didn’t care.
"Oh, hello, alpha, you sound stressed. You alright?" Katya teased on the other end, and Sergei let out a growl that shook the room.
"I said. Where. The fuck. Are you?!" Sergei bellowed again.
"At work... with Greg," Katya said, right as Sergei’s phone chimed again.
Sergei looked at it.
And fuck if he hadn’t been that glad to see fucking Greg the coworker with Katya.
"You little brat," Sergei growled again.
And Anya, who had been so ready to pull all emergency stops, rolled her eyes at the man before relaxing.
Even Volkov relaxed.
"You didn’t say anything about my swimsuits, alpha. Are they that ugly?"
"What?" Sergei choked.
"I tried them out in our bedroom today. That’s where the photos are from. The lighting isn’t as good, though; I think that’s why you’re not deciding so soon," Katya sighed dramatically.
Then he added.
"I’ll go to the mall and try out better ones there—"
"Absolutely not!" Sergei slammed his hand on the conference table, standing up instinctively.
The board looked at him, horrified, and Anya just sighed exasperatedly.
"Do you not want me to go out?" Katya whined, and Sergei knew he was doomed.
"What?" Sergei asked, confused.
"Alpha doesn’t want me to go to the mall?" his omega whined again, and Sergei sat back down defeatedly.
"No... I mean yes... Ah, fuck... Listen, Solnyshka. You can go wherever you want, and do whatever you want. Just..." Sergei pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.
"I can?" Katya asked, delighted, on the other end.
"Of course. You never need to ask permission from me," Sergei said quietly.
"Okay, great! I’ll take Greg and Rahim with me," Katya said, and Sergei let out another growl.
"I’m going to kill that alpha." Sergei broke a piece of the conference table.
"No, you won’t. Because I need help finding another swimsuit since you didn’t like the first two that I sent you," Katya said defiantly.
"I... I liked them," Sergei sighed hopelessly.
"Okay, I’ll still get more and then try them out in front of you so you can decide better," Katya suggested, and Sergei knew he was fucked.
"You—" Sergei tried.
"I miss you, alpha... But you’re working, so I’ll get back to work now," Katya said quietly on the other end.
"Nope. I’m not working," Sergei said, and the entire board of directors looked at the man like this was the kind of insanity they had never thought Sergei Moskowsky would ever display.
"You’re not?" Katya chuckled mischievously.
"No, I’m not," Sergei deadpanned.
Anya just facepalmed at the madness she was watching.
"Okay, hold on, I’ll show you something."
Sergei waited. He heard his omega’s footsteps before the omega paused.
"Alright, I’ll switch to video call now," Katya said.
Before Sergei could comprehend why he’d said that, the omega had switched.
Sergei’s phone was still at his ear.
"It’s a video call, alpha," Katya said.
Sergei pulled the phone off his ear and stared at his phone.
Katya Romanov was wearing lingerie under his work clothes.
And the only thing the alpha could manage was:
"Everyone get the fuck out. Continue the meeting in some other conference room. NOW!!!"
