Contract Marriage: Married to My Ex-Husband's Alpha Stepfather [BL]
Chapter 368: When The World Saw His Eyes
[FROLO]
Sergei had seen them.
Noticed.
Of course he’d noticed; how could he not?
"Took you long enough to catch up, boys," the alpha said right as he made the last corner in the lower district. Today he hadn’t come with his driver. He’d insisted on coming to the headquarters alone, not that it mattered or anything.
"I’m having a really good day. I have a feeling whatever you’re being paid isn’t worth dying by my hands," Sergei chuckled, stepping out of his car to the line of men that had come with katanas.
He knew it was no coincidence, especially given how Saturday had gone for him and Aleksandr. He’d expected this sooner, and frankly he was disappointed that it took Alek so long to gather his thoughts.
Maybe the alpha needed better motivation to step up despite being the bratva leader, right?
"We’re not here to kill you," one of them said, and Sergei smirked at them, smiling as he put up the barrier between him and Katya.
He’d known this was bound to happen.
That the lowly alpha would try to hurt Katya using the one way he was sure of, especially after the news about Katya’s bond with Sergei spread fast.
It was interesting, really, and the fact that Sergei could see the red on the katanas was the reminder Sergei needed to know that this was not a usual bratva assignment.
This was a message.
Something that could only be equated to the madness of a lonely heart.
"Right... He sent you to hurt my Solnyshka, didn’t he?" Sergei asked, a smile on his face as he blocked his pain receptors.
Katya was never going to get hurt through Sergei.
It was the one thing that Sergei would never let happen. Even if Sergei had to suffer the worst kind of pain, he’d never let Katya know or feel any pain because of his bond to Sergei.
And right now, here with katanas and men who looked like their only mission was to beat Sergei Moskowsky black and blue, the alpha laughed.
"Alright then, boys, how do you want me? Coat on or off?" Sergei asked as he toyed with his cufflinks.
Katya had put them on him, and he wouldn’t be removing them even if just for a fight.
"My Vladimir is so handsome today." Katya had kissed him good morning when the omega woke, and that little heartfelt smile on Katya’s face was the only reason Sergei was not going to go hard on these men.
"Get him!!!" they shouted, and Sergei sighed.
He took his coat off. He couldn’t afford to ruin it this early, because he still had a four o’clock date with Katya. He needed to be presentable even then.
And as the men charged at Sergei, their red katanas sharper this time, Sergei waited. Watched their steps. Let them surround him.
The alpha had nothing on him.
No weapon.
Nothing he could use to defend himself.
"Shall we?" he mocked before they began attacking him.
Tens of katanas charged against one man whose mind was filled with a smiling Katya. A man who only had one thing to protect with his life. A man who was more devoted to making sure nothing got to Katya other than his kisses and happy memories.
And like a man forged in pain, Sergei fought back.
Bare hands. Ducked swipes. Broken arms. Fallen katanas. Snapped necks. A cut on his arm that wasn’t deep enough to ruin, but one that had grazed him enough to tear through the shirt his Solnyshka had put on him.
"You shouldn’t have done that," Sergei growled lowly, grabbing a katana from one of the dead bodies.
"What the hell?" the man asked, too shocked to even understand how the fuck the only sign that this man was fighting or even involved in a sword fight was the katana swipe on his shirt.
Something that offended him more than the fact that they were ruining his morning and using him to get to his beloved.
"My little wolf ironed this shirt for me," Sergei aimed a katana at one of the men’s hearts. The man tried to block it with his katana, but they’d been fighting a madman for ten minutes now, and he was way stronger than them.
It was even more unsettling because Sergei Moskowsky wasn’t even using his alpha pheromones to his advantage in the fight. If he wanted to, he could have choked them to death with his raging pheromones alone.
But of course, Sergei had been in a good mood.
Then one of them ruined it.
And the result?
Katanas forged between ribs, aimed at the heart, twisted to cause maximum damage. Pulled back. Pushed in again.
Sergei was fast. Agile. Insane. And bothered because someone had ruined his shirt.
"You ruined my shirt," Sergei grumbled like he hadn’t already felled a few of the bratva warriors with his bare hands and was now aiming the katana at every head that came close.
"You really shouldn’t use katanas to ruin people’s shirts, you know?" Sergei lectured as he fought the remaining men.
They were trying their best to hold on, because they had crossed a line. And they knew more than anything that it was way more honorable to die by Sergei’s hands than run back to the bratva as cowards.
"My neck was right there for you to cut off, and you chose my Solnyshka’s shirt," the alpha complained, slicing through the man who had almost given up, but had to keep going.
Because they knew Alek was watching.
They had chosen a spot with CCTV cameras that Alek had access to because all he wanted was to watch Sergei bleed so Katya would be hurt.
And now...
"What’s your name?" Sergei asked one of the men he’d stabbed in the arm.
The poor man was bleeding, and Sergei wasn’t even bothered.
"Greg... Gregorio," the man said, tripping over his own name as he tried his best to stay alive. The rest of the people around him were dead.
Fallen by the very madman who was asking him for his name.
"You look thirsty, Gregorio," Sergei said before adding, "Don’t worry, I won’t kill you. I still need you to send a message to your master."
The man stared at Sergei, horrified by the mere fact that Sergei had slashed through his fellow bratva men, and the only stain on Sergei was the red where he’d been grazed earlier.
"I..." Gregorio tried.
"Okay, fine. I have some water; I’ll get it for you, but you must not run. Because if you run, I will hunt you, and then go for your family, your neighbors, and your grandparents. And I’ll kill them all for not raising you right," Sergei stated, like he was talking to a friend.
"I... I won’t run..."
"Great," Sergei said, then he went to his dashboard and pulled a bottle of water.
There were bottles there before, most of which Katya had bought for him over the months.
And Sergei kept trying to find a bottle that wasn’t given to him by Katya.
He didn’t get one.
So, he checked the backseat because he knew his drivers always put water bottles for him.
"Perfect... Got one for you," Sergei said as he grabbed the bottle and walked back to where a wounded Gregorio stood.
The man had a broken leg, a twisted left arm, a throat that wasn’t even working properly because Sergei had punched it hard.
Hell, his spine was probably not even functioning anymore thanks to the blows he’d gotten from the man who was now volunteering to give him water.
This man was unhinged.
"You can lean here," Sergei offered when he saw how Gregorio was struggling to stand, especially with the katana still in his arm thanks to Sergei.
The man didn’t move.
Didn’t trust Sergei.
He had no reason to.
Yet he had no choice but to try, because when Sergei looked at him a second time, the poor man stumbled over the bodies of his fallen friends as he rushed to where Sergei was.
"I... I’ll open it for you, because you don’t look so well," Sergei said kindly before he twisted the cap of the bottle and handed it to a bleeding Greg.
"Tha... Thank you, sir," Gregorio said, and Sergei smiled at him.
"It’s not free, though. I need something from you," Sergei began, and the man stared, confused.
"You see, my Solnyshka has a work friend... called Greg."
Gregorio stiffened.
"I need advice on what to do. I hope you don’t mind helping me out, yeah?" Sergei said, helping the man hold the water bottle, and Gregorio just nodded, not having any other choice but to listen.
And listen he did.
But so did Aleksandr.
"This damn maniac!"
