Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 73: His wife defended his honour
Alex started to remove his gloves, "Let me..."
A hand reached out to Sienna’s face, gently tucking the hair behind her ear with ease.
"Thank you," Sienna glanced at Callahan, "Done soaking in the sun?"
Callahan looked behind her at the pile of empty crates, "I am here to help."
Alex glanced at the man.
Sienna looked around. A neat freak like Callahan would probably suffocate in the smell of fish and dirt.
She was about to turn him down but when she turned to face him, the man had already rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, revealing his forearms.
Amidst Sienna’s momentary distraction, he put on the gloves and walked to her side.
"B-Big boss, here!" Flora immediately gave up her crate spot to Sienna.
Callahan’s lips tugged up slightly, "Teach me."
"Ah...? Oh," Sienna coughed.
"I will show you how it’s done. Pay attention," Sienna picked a fish and packed it into the crate while carefully handling it.
Callahan looked on diligently then picked a fish by the tail.
A few fishermen stopped to glare at Callahan as if he had sullied their religion.
Sienna’s eyes bulged out. She hurriedly grabbed the man’s wrists, "Both hands. With both hands."
"Oh? Like this?" Callahan blinked innocently, "You will have to guide me a little more."
"Mr. Hawke, your hands haven’t healed yet. Even with gloves on, too much movement can affect the tendons," Alex said.
"Just a few scratches. I am happy to help," Callahan said while Sienna guided his hands to the crate.
"Boss..." Flora hesitantly called out.
Sienna nodded, "Excuse me for a bit. I have something to do..."
She turned to Alex before looking at Callahan, "Alex can help you."
The charming smile on Callahan’s face didn’t waver, "Go ahead."
Once she left with Flora, Alex frowned and approached Callahan, "Let me..."
His brows twitched.
In barely a minute after Sienna left, Callahan had filled nearly half of the crate effortlessly.
In 15 minutes or so, nearly all the crates were packed. Sienna hadn’t returned yet.
Callahan removed his gloves and washed his hands clean. As he turned to leave, Alex blocked his path.
"What are your intentions?" Alex coldly glanced at Callahan.
Callahan paused, a hint of laziness in his eyes as he turned to the man, "Not your place to know."
"Coming here, getting hurt outside, staying close to her, I’m not sure what you are playing at but with me around, you can forget about whatever ulterior motives you have."
Callahan straightened the sleeves of his shirt, "Mr. Davis, it’s one thing for you to visit here during your vacations as a child. But as the CEO of Davis group, what vacation brings you here during this time?"
Alex’s face changed.
"Coincidentally at the same time while she is here," Callahan’s eyes turned frosty, "It’s one thing that you enjoy games, it’s another thing if I will let you involve her in them."
"I am here for work. Don’t misunderstand," Alex said resolutely before he left.
"Hey, hey, you really think he is here for Sienna?" Leon, who had overheard the conversation, hurried to Callahan’s side.
Callahan raised a brow, "Just guessing."
"When do you ever guess things randomly?" Leon sighed, "Moreover, he is suspicious. It’s fine he is visiting his grandfather, why is that peacock dropping his feathers in front of Sienna? If he is really up to something, what would you do?"
Callahan narrowed his eyes, "Cut the feathers and burn them. Turn him bald."
Leon: "_"
"Cough... You are ruthless!"
"How did it go?" Callahan turned to him.
Leon’s face turned serious, "Somebody has already contacted that team of journalists. The live videos were blurry because of the weather and they have been taken down from all places."
Callahan raised a brow, a hint of interest in his eyes.
"They had recorded you so they had other materials as well. But someone got them to discard everything and threatened to shut their company down."
Pale pink peach blossoms bloomed around Callahan.
Leon suspiciously narrowed his eyes, "No way! It couldn’t be your wife, right?!" he whisper-yelled.
He thought somebody else had gotten recorded accidentally hence they had it taken down. And that saved him the trouble.
But looking at Callahan’s unrestrained smug look, "I lived to the day of watching your honour being defended."
"Don’t be jealous,’’ Callahan patted his shoulder in a display of fake sympathy before striding away, his steps almost air.
Leon nearly spat a mouthful of blood.
It’s one thing he was married, why was he rubbing all that marital bliss on his single face?
...
"Boss, initially, they were reluctant to take those videos down. After I passed your message, they didn’t dare!"
Sienna nodded, "You did well."
"But Boss, you didn’t hide your name while threatening them. Would it affect your reputation?"
"If I hid my name, would they take the threat seriously?"
Flora shook her head and then thought about it, "Big Boss is influential. Even if you didn’t act on his behalf, he would have handled it. You didn’t need to risk your reputation..."
"As journalists, they can do their job. But if they want to make a spectacle out of my people, they have to see if I allow it," Sienna frowned when she thought about the bunch of journalists standing aside and watching the show when Callahan was vulnerable and barely in his senses.
"If my reputation is harmed by a bunch of random people, it’s my problem. Last night, he was unwell so he probably didn’t think of it. If we let those videos circulate through the night, it would have been troublesome today,’’ Sienna stopped speaking when she saw the sparkle in Flora’s eyes.
"Boss, you are so protective of Mr. Hawke!" Flora’s eyes were dramatically shining.
Sienna paused. Then, she poked her forehead, "Stop daydreaming. We are leaving in a while. Have you prepared everything?"
"We didn’t bring a lot of things with us. Boss, I have arranged a new phone for you too..."
"Miss Qing!"
Sienna and Flora stopped walking and turned around, "Sir..."
"Last night, I overheard your conversation..." The old man stopped in front of them, "The deal you offered before would really be beneficial for the people here. But we were afraid of taking a risk.’’
