Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 68: He will pursue her
Callahan reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a small box.
She immediately recognized the box, having seen in it in his office before.
Imagining he had brought it for another woman had bugged her in way she couldn’t understand, so she had pushed it to the back of her mind.
He opened the box and the snowflake pendant sparkled in the phone flashlight.
"Is that..."
"Your birthday gift,’’ he said.
Sienna was stumped for words. Her birthday...? He had brought it for her barely a day after their marriage?
Before she could say a word, the man leaned towards her again, "Butterfly, will you let me pursue you?" His voice was hoarse and gentle.
Sienna’s heart raced. With unsteady movements, she removed the grey fur cloak from her body and draped it around him, "Mm."
...
’Mm’
’Mm’
’Mm’
The monosyllabic sound had started to haunt Sienna since the moment she had snapped out of her trance.
Callahan was sitting on a bed while Sienna was standing in front of him, drying his hair with a towel.
Every time she looked at the top of his head, the ’mm’ would return to haunt her.
"Alright... I think it’s done now," she cleared her throat.
She had barely taken a step back when two strong arms wrapped around her waist pulling her close.
"It’s not," Callahan mumbled as he buried his face in her chest.
Sienna’s mind blanked for a second, "Your hair is mostly dry now."
"If I say it isn’t, then it isn’t," he rested his chin on her and glanced up.
Sienna looked at his face, his slightly damp hair framed his face, his long lashes fluttered occassionally as he looked at her, his lips slowly parted when she looked at them...

’Sienna, act blind,’ Except, she couldn’t.
If it were ancient times, then Callahan would cause downfall of whichever nation he walked onto.
"Alright, I will dry some more then," she dabbed the towel on his head, intentionally covering his eyes in the processs.
’Knock Knock’
Despite the man’s visible reluctance to let her go, Sienna stepped away from and walked over to the door.
When Sienna opened the door, a frigid face greeted her view.
The man at the door examined Sienna from head to toe, "Are you fine, Little Snow?"
Callahan, upon hearing the ’little snow’ narrowed his eyes and tilted his head towards the door.
"Stop calling me that," Sienna shook her head, "I am alright."
The man standing at the door glanced at the man sitting on the bed. A pair of cold hazel eyes locked onto the pair of unbothered blue ones.
In a brief second, there seemed to be hidden undercurrents in that gaze. Nobody was looking away, as if there was some unspoken battle going on.
"Why are you here?" Sienna asked.
The man standing at the door nodded at Callahan once, "Mr. Hawke."
Callahan raised a brow subtly, "Mr. Davis."
The man pursed his lips and looked away first. He answered Sienna, "The doctor is here."
Sienna thanked the man. After telling Callahan she would wait outside, she left the room.
The living room was not extravagant or large. But rather, it was a small place with a single long couch in positioned in the center.
Leon sat on the floor in front of the fireplace.
Flora offered him a cup of ginger tea and the man thanked her, muttering something about not feeling his limbs and a week long vacation.
Upon hearing the sound of footsteps, Leon looked up, "What is Mr. Davis doing in a small town like Bellhaven?"
"You know each other?" Sienna looked back and forth between both the men.
"We have never met before but as the CEO of Davis group, he is a famous name."
Alex Davis acknowledged Leon’s words with half a nod, "I am visiting my maternal grandfather."
"Earlier, I noticed it but forgot to ask. How do you both know each other?"
"We were classmates," Sienna walked over to the couch and took a seat.
"That makes sense. Then, Mr. Davis..."
"You can call me Alex."
"Ah, we are not that familiar with each other," Leon waved a hand, ’If not for my boredom, I wouldn’t even bother with this idle gossip with you,’ he cleared his throat and sipped the ginger tea.
"Little Snow’s friends are my friends," Alex said naturally as he took a seat beside Sienna.
’Little Snow?’ Leon’s hackles raised immediately as he looked atb the people who were sitting beside each other.
Speechlessly, he glanced at the closed door behind which his poor friend was being examined by a doctor.
In his mind, he could already see Callahan drooping in a corner lifelessly as he held a thin twig in his hand, drawing tiny circles in the ground.
In his mind, he thought, ’Callahan, my friend, my condolences. While you are sick, this peacock is flaunting his best feathers in front of your wife.’
At this moment, a hoarse voice sounded from the other end of the living room, "Had I known you were my grandson’s friends, you wouldn’t have gone through all that trouble."
The old man was none other than the town’s representative whom Sienna and Flora had met soon aftrer arriving in Bellhaven.
Sienna stood up and bowed to the man, "We are still grateful to you for taking us in and inviting the doctor over."
The old man waved his hand amicably, "You are lucky he lives a street away or else, we would not have found a doctor in this weather. How is the young man inside?"
"He seems fine," Alex spoke up.
Leon’s eye twitched viciously, ’This fox is dismissing Callahan’s effort with a few simple words!’
The elder sighed, "You young people are impulsive. When you know there is a storm out here, why would you still rush over to this place?"
"Normal people wouldn’t do that. But my friend is a deeply sentimental person," Leon raised a finger to the sky and glanced at Alex with a smile before he continued, "For the one he cares about, he would cross the oceans and brave all the storms."

’Silence’
"Vice President Hawke... is here for our Boss?" A meek voice sounded in the living room.
