Chapter 1292: Chapter 676: Extra: It’s a Wedding Dress, Not a Nun’s Robe? 3
Alice Robinson was helping Chester Robinson adjust his tie when there was a knock on the door.
Alice felt awkward and said, "It must be Rachel, she’s going to complain that I’m a big lazy pig again."
Chester smiled and went to open the door.
Indeed, Rachel was standing there with her backpack, hands on her hips, pouting, "Mommy, I’m going to be late again..."
"Rachel."
Seeing her father, Rachel paused for a moment. "Daddy."
Chester picked up Rachel and kissed her soft little cheek, "Sorry, Daddy and Mommy woke up late."
Rachel happily wrapped her arms around Chester’s strong neck, "Daddy, you’re back!"
"Yes."
"Yay, Daddy and Mommy have made up."
Alice and Chester exchanged a glance, basking in their daughter’s radiant smile.
Chester personally drove Rachel to kindergarten.
Rachel sat on Alice’s lap, happily swinging her legs, "I’m so happy, Daddy and Mommy are taking me to kindergarten together."
Chester chuckled, "If you like it, Daddy can accompany you every day."
"No way." Rachel said sensibly, "Mommy says Daddy works very hard every day and needs to sleep a little longer."
Chester glanced at Alice through the rearview mirror, who was quietly smiling, "I didn’t know my wife cares for me so much."
Rachel stood up behind the seat, concerned, asking her father, "Daddy, do you work hard every day?"
"Yes, Daddy is busy during the day and at night too."
"During the day you have work, but what’s busy at night?" Rachel blinked her bright eyes, curious.
Chester smirked, "What keeps me busy at night, you should ask Mommy. Mommy knows best." As he spoke, he intentionally glanced at Alice in the mirror, who was already blushing.
Rachel turned her head and asked Alice seriously, "Mommy, what’s Daddy busy with at night?"
Alice was embarrassed, "..."
"Mommy, why is your face red?"
Alice continued, "..."
Returning from dropping Rachel at kindergarten, Alice noticed Chester didn’t take the road home.
Alice asked puzzled, "Not going home?"
"Yes."
"Going to the office?"
"No, taking you somewhere."
Alice hadn’t expected Chester would take her to the golf course where he had prepared to propose to her the previous day.
From afar, Alice could see the setup for the proposal.
Romantic royal roses were arranged into flower stakes at the ends of a carpet made of red rose petals, and at the end of the carpet was a minister’s platform...
It was a simple arrangement, yet done with great care.
Royal roses are so named because although their flowers are very small, their hundreds of layers of petals are unmatched by other roses. They are pure white and exude a fragrance similar to that of gardenias. They are precious due to the difficulty in cultivating them, often a bouquet costing dozens of times more than ordinary roses, yet he spent so many royal roses to arrange this venue.
"I originally wanted to give you a surprise."
"But a proposal doesn’t require such extravagance."
He smilingly took her hand, "I don’t feel it’s extravagant; I think a proposal is the most sacred thing apart from marriage."
Alice Robinson gave a gentle smile.
"It’s a pity it rained last night, causing many flowers to wilt."
Alice shook her head, walked to a cluster of rose stakes, picked a rose and sniffed it, "Although it rained, the roses that remained resilient after being washed by the rain are especially vivid and fragrant."
Chester embraced her from behind, "If we hadn’t had a quarrel then, and I had surprised you this way, would you have agreed to marry me?"
Alice playfully retorted, "What do you think?"
"I don’t know."
"Aren’t you always so confident?"
"But the heart of a woman is unfathomable."
"You compared my heart to a needle, are you implying I’m narrow-minded?"
Chester lightly nibbled her shoulder.
She yelped, "Hate it, why bite me?"
He chuckled, "Punishing you for deliberately misinterpreting my words."
Alice mumbled, "I was just playing with you..."
Chester released his embrace and turned her around, "I’m seriously asking you."
Alice bit her finger and pondered for a moment, "I think, I might maybe possibly... nod!" She said those last four words very softly.
"What did you say?" Chester was instantly delighted, reaching out to pull her into his arms.
She retreated a step just in time, playfully sticking her tongue out at him, "I knew you were setting me up again. If I said I’d nod, were you going to claim I’ve agreed to marry you?"
