Chapter 1159: Chapter 607: Extra Story: His Invitation to a World for Two 1_2

"QCS" compensates "Tench", and "QCS" receives huge profits from the German project, while the money Edward embezzled is considered as commission paid by "QCS" to Edward. Ultimately, Edward still needs to face legal repercussions.

Alice Robinson was thinking about this when Andie walked in with a smile, "Miss Robinson, I’ve already called Mr. Robinson’s secretary. She said that Mr. Robinson is very happy that you’re willing to make such a decision. Mr. Robinson wants to invite you to lunch to thank you."

Alice Robinson replied indifferently, "You can tell her it’s not necessary. I’m very busy, as long as he keeps his promise, that’s fine."

"Okay."

Since Rachel doesn’t return from kindergarten at noon, Alice Robinson usually has lunch at the company.

But today, for some reason, looking at the lunch sent by the secretary, she had no appetite at all, and found herself staring blankly while leaning against the sofa.

The phone in the office suddenly rang.

She snapped back to reality, with an inexplicable premonition. As the secretary was not there, she answered the call herself, "Hello..."

"It’s me, have you eaten?"

His voice, always magnetic and pleasant.

"Hello, who is this..."

"Do you really want to be strangers with me?" His voice sounded somewhat deep, typically when he’s a bit displeased.

"Sorry, if you don’t tell me who you are, I’m going to hang up."

Her detachment was icy, with no room for maneuver.

"Alice!!"

Calmly and seamlessly, she hung up the phone.

You can imagine how enraged the person on the other end must have been.

After ending the call, Alice Robinson leaned her head back on the chair, vacantly staring at the ceiling.

Memories flashed before her eyes...

She leaned on his shoulder, watching the sunset together, their fingers intertwined, as if they would never part in this lifetime.

"Are you really planning to ignore me for the rest of your life?"

A cold voice broke in. Alice Robinson stood up abruptly from her chair, taken aback.

The vast office, now empty since everyone had left, rendered his voice even icier.

His narrow eyes squinted into a line, and the dim gaze bore some displeasure, staring coldly at her.

The momentary heart-stopping resumed, and she peacefully watched him standing outside the office.

He walked into the office on his own, boldly, as if he owned the place, turned around in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his obsidian eyes fixated on her, "It’s just a meal, why make it so estranging?"

His tone wasn’t actually harsh, but rather gentle.

She looked at him, her fingers unconsciously pressed tightly against her thighs.

He looked at her coldly, "Unless you’ve lost your memory, how can you really pretend that nothing ever happened?"

Faced with his aggressive gaze, she simply smiled faintly, "Mr. Robinson, I don’t understand what you’re saying... Do we know each other from before? Also, if Mr. Robinson comes to ’Tench’, you should have informed me. Greeting you so abruptly is truly rude. As for declining your lunch invitation, I was planning to apologize in person when I found the time."

"You think you’re a great actress?"

He slowly walked to her, gaze half-narrowed, studying her, "You think you’re a great actress?"

His eyes usually made people not dare to look directly because every time you meet his gaze, you feel prickly, as if any facade in front of him is redundant, and that sense of being seen through leaves you unable to guess his thoughts.

However, Alice Robinson now, with a heart as still as water, could face him without any ripples.

She looked at Chester Robinson suspiciously, "Mr. Robinson, what do you mean by saying this, I really don’t understand..."

At that moment, Chester Robinson suddenly pushed Alice Robinson against the wall behind her.

"Ah—"

Alice Robinson screamed, her back already pressed against the cold marble wall.

Seeing his icy glare, she tried to escape, but he had already placed his hands on either side of her, trapping her between the wall and him.

She inhaled sharply, surrounded entirely by his pleasant masculine scent.

"You can pretend not to know me, but what right do you have to make her not recognize me?" He stared at her firmly, as if looking at his prey, his thin lips coldly speaking before pressing into a line of restraint.

She was actually surprised that he was upset about her taking their daughter yesterday... but why would he be mad? Didn’t he not care about this daughter? Or perhaps, he still had a trace of paternal instinct that moved him to cherish her upon seeing her.

But Rachel doesn’t need a father like that.

Alice Robinson’s brow furrowed deeper, "Mr. Robinson, what are you pretending? Our daughter, I really don’t understand... Mr. Robinson, could you have mistaken me for someone else?"

Her act was almost genuine.

He was so angry that he cupped her chin, squinted, and glanced askance at her, "Really don’t know me?"

"Mr. Robinson, my secretary will be back soon, this seems inappropriate... how about you let me go first, and I’ll help you find who you’re looking for? Is it someone from our company? Also surnamed Robinson? Or..."

He suddenly lowered his head, getting closer to her, their breaths almost mingling, his gaze locked deeply on her, his face incredibly dark.

Her eyes widened, clearly startled. "Mr. Robinson, you..." She tried to pry his hand off.

He held her tightly, tilting his head slightly, his lips almost brushing hers, "If you dare say one more word, do you believe I can make you unable to say anything right now?"

She was stunned.

He quietly looked down at her, his gaze extraordinarily deep.

She dared not move at all, her wide eyes just feeling surrounded by his breath all around her.

He stared at her delicate face without blinking, after a long time, he spoke in a low voice, "It seems Claud Laurence as your boyfriend hasn’t been taking good care of you, you’ve lost weight."

Alice Robinson’s dark pupils slightly widened.

He gazed at her, slowly retracting the emotions on his face, Chester Robinson’s eyes deepened, "Really not willing to have a meal with me?" he asked in a low voice.
