Chapter 1157: Chapter 606: Extra: He Pressed Her Against the White Wall
The child called out, "Mommy, uncle..."
Alice Robinson hugged her child and bowed apologetically to Chester Robinson, "Sorry, my daughter mistook you for someone else."
Chester Robinson stood up, squinting slightly.
Alice Robinson, holding Rachel, turned without looking back and walked towards the restaurant.
Chester Robinson’s expression gradually turned somber.
"Mommy, Mommy... I want uncle... I want uncle..."
Alice Robinson firmly held the struggling Rachel, not turning her head as she entered the restaurant.
Claud Laurence ran over upon hearing Rachel’s voice and asked, "What happened?"
Alice Robinson, with a cold face, said nothing.
"Uncle... Mommy... uncle is right outside..." Rachel cried and struggled hard.
Alice Robinson finally placed the continuously struggling Rachel on the ground.
Rachel was eager to run outside, but Alice Robinson had already crouched down to block her daughter, calmly saying, "He’s not your uncle."
Rachel shook her head vigorously, "He is, he is uncle..."
Alice Robinson sternly said, "Don’t you remember? Uncle left this world a year ago."
Rachel reluctantly wiped her tears with her elbow, pouting, "But mommy said uncle just went to a very far place..."
"A very far place means heaven... Rachel, grandpa and grandma are all in heaven."
Rachel still shook her head, looking at the heavy door of the restaurant, "Uncle is right outside..."
Alice Robinson patiently coaxed, "Rachel, he’s not uncle, uncle really won’t come back, he just looks a lot like uncle."
Rachel twisted her hands sadly, "He is uncle... he just wanted to hug me."
"Rachel..."
"Mommy... I want uncle, I want uncle..." Rachel clung to Alice Robinson, jumping and pestering.
Claud Laurence walked out of the restaurant, glanced around the corridor but didn’t see Chester Robinson.
Rachel continued to plead persistently with Alice Robinson...
After a round of coaxing, Alice Robinson still couldn’t convince Rachel, and finally, she gave Rachel a hard smack on her backside.
Rachel, hurt from the slap, cried even louder, wailing, "I hate mommy, I hate mommy..."
Seeing her daughter’s tearful appearance, Alice Robinson sat down on a chair, saying coolly, "I’ve already told you, he’s not uncle... If you continue to make a fuss like this, then mommy will wait until you cry yourself tired."
Rachel cried even louder.
Claud Laurence stepped forward and picked Rachel up, gently patting and soothing her, casting a deep look at Alice Robinson.
Alice Robinson walked coldly to the floor-to-ceiling window, arms crossed in front of her chest, biting lightly on her closed fist.
In the glass window, a reflection showed Rachel’s aggrieved, crying face...
After a long time, Alice Robinson turned and walked towards Claud Laurence.
Rachel, exhausted from crying, had fallen asleep in Claud Laurence’s arms.
Looking at her daughter’s red, swollen eyes and red nose, Alice Robinson took Rachel from Claud Laurence’s arms, kissing her daughter tenderly.
Claud Laurence said, "I never saw you hit Rachel before. If you don’t have the heart to, why did you hit her?"
Alice Robinson sniffed lightly, saying blandly, "I want her to know her ’uncle’ is no longer in this world."
"Did she... encounter Chester Robinson?"
Alice Robinson’s voice was slightly hoarse, "I don’t know why he appeared here."
Claud Laurence’s gaze darkened slightly.
Alice Robinson said, "Sorry for ruining the atmosphere of tonight’s dinner..."
Claud Laurence chuckled softly, "Silly, being so formal with me."
Alice Robinson held Rachel tightly, bowing her head in apology, "I want to go home first..."
Claud Laurence supported Alice Robinson’s shoulder, "Okay, I’ll take you back."
Alice Robinson nodded.
In front of the elevator, Alice Robinson kept looking at the sleeping Rachel in her arms, her love and concern evident.
Claud Laurence held Alice Robinson’s shoulder, using the strength at hand to comfort her.
The elevator doors opened...
As Claud Laurence was about to enter the elevator with Alice Robinson, his phone rang at that moment.
Seeing the number displayed on the phone screen, Claud Laurence frowned slightly and pressed the answer button.
After finishing the phone call, Claud Laurence entered the elevator and said ’sorry’ to Alice Robinson, "There’s a sudden issue at the company that I need to deal with, so I probably can’t take you back. I’ll have Robin take you home."
Alice Robinson nodded.
The elevator doors closed, and Claud Laurence turned towards the reception room next to the restaurant.
Upon entering the reception room, Claud Laurence saw Chester Robinson standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.
Claud Laurence furrowed his brow, "What wind blew you here?"
Chester Robinson seemed in a bad mood, his cold voice carrying displeasure, "Must I ask you if she’s here before I come?"
Claud Laurence crossed his arms, leaning against the table, "You wouldn’t come looking for me without a reason... so, what’s up?"
"She’s gone?"
Claud Laurence said flatly, "She doesn’t need your concern."
Chester Robinson turned around, a cold light bursting from his deep-set eyes.
Claud Laurence’s gaze was equally icy.
Their eyes met, seemingly in a contest, yet evenly matched.
In the end, Chester Robinson was the first to look away, and he turned back toward the floor-to-ceiling windows, speaking solemnly, "Is there any way we can make her compromise on Edward’s matter?"
Claud Laurence gave Chester Robinson a mocking look, "Oh? Is there really a problem in this world that Mr. Robinson cannot solve?"
Chester Robinson did not answer.
Claud Laurence squinted, "Though she is stubborn, she easily softens. To change her mind, Edward would have to make her soften."
Chester Robinson turned around, looking directly at Claud Laurence, his gaze shadowed, "You really do understand her."
Claud Laurence curled a cold smile.
Chester Robinson turned and left the meeting room.
As he stepped out of the elevator, the bodyguard beside Chester Robinson couldn’t help but ask, "Mr. Robinson, actually, if you just take care of ’Tench,’ would Miss Robinson still cling to Edward?"
The second bodyguard nudged his colleague with an elbow, "You’re new here, you know nothing."
The bodyguard quickly shut his mouth, lowering his head.
The second bodyguard spoke respectfully, "Mr. Robinson, are you still going to Olivia Kellogg’s place tonight?"
Chester Robinson said nothing, simply getting into the car.
The bodyguard quickly informed the driver, "To the hotel where Miss Olivia Kellogg is staying."
Hotel.
Olivia Kellogg woke lazily in bed, the sliding quilt revealing her fair, slender shoulder.
Embracing the blanket, she sat up, seeing Chester Robinson in a robe sitting on the sofa alone, drinking and pondering.
Olivia Kellogg wrapped in the blanket, gracefully walked to Chester Robinson’s side, "Mr. Robinson..."
Chester Robinson did not glance at Olivia Kellogg, only said, "There are some pieces of jewelry over there, pick one yourself! Tonight I want to be alone."
On hearing, Olivia Kellogg happily ran to the coffee table, opened the jewelry box filled with expensive jewels.
Olivia Kellogg, understanding the situation, picked her desired jewel and gathered her clothes from the floor and left.
Chester Robinson quietly drank red wine, seemingly tired, leaning against the sofa, immersed in his thoughts.
At the same time.
Alice Robinson lay on the bed in the children’s room, lovingly gazing at the sleeping face.
She felt very uncomfortable as it was the first time Rachel had been hit since she was so little.
The child cried so loudly just now, she knew she had hurt the child.
"I’m sorry, sweetheart..."
Alice Robinson’s voice was filled with self-blame and guilt, she sobbed to her daughter.
Her mind replayed her daughter’s wailing cries as she forcibly carried her away...
She has always known her daughter has a deep attachment to him, perhaps due to natural blood relations. Yet she thought over time, her daughter would gradually forget him. She didn’t expect, a year later, the child’s immature consciousness would still clearly remember him...
But, sweetheart...
You are so attached to him, but has he ever been attached to you? Never...
More than a year, from when he had his surgery until today, if he ever cared about you, he would certainly come to see you...
Even though she had written in the letter that they were strangers henceforth, if he wanted to see the child, she would not stop him.
However, in more than a year, he hadn’t come once...
His "death" made Rachel cry in despair for many days, she couldn’t console her at all, having to lie that he went far away. Yet Rachel missed him so, does he miss Rachel?
After finally writing him thoroughly out of their lives, how could she let the child become attached to him again? If the child relied on him once more, what reason could she use to console the child? She could allow him into her world, but she would not let him walk in and out of her world.
"I’m sorry, Rachel... Mommy just doesn’t want you to be hurt."
She kissed her daughter’s forehead in apology, Alice Robinson tenderly held her daughter, slowly falling asleep.
The next day.
Aunt PA carried Rachel into the dining room as Alice Robinson was coming out of the kitchen, holding the ham and fried eggs she made herself.
"Hello, sweetheart..."
Alice Robinson placed the aromatic breakfast on the table, then took off her apron to go and hold her daughter.
Unexpectedly, Rachel turned and leaned on Aunt PA’s shoulder, "I don’t want Mommy!"
Aunt PA smiled, advising, "Rachel, look, your mommy got up early to make breakfast for you, be good, don’t be mad at your mommy."
Rachel’s voice was very firm, "I just don’t want Mommy!"
Alice Robinson walked to Rachel, making a funny face, "Sweetheart..." She tried to make her daughter laugh.
Rachel showed no expression, her big eyes glaring at Alice Robinson, looking very aggrieved.
Alice Robinson leaned closer to Rachel, giggling and appeasing, "Sweetheart, Mommy apologizes for yesterday, can you forgive Mommy?"
Rachel pursed her lips.
Seeing Rachel’s attitude soften, Alice Robinson quickly took Rachel from Aunt PA’s arms, tenderly rubbing her daughter’s delicate little face, "Mommy will never hit you again."
Rachel whimpered and sobbed.
Alice Robinson let Rachel lean on her shoulder, lightly patting her daughter’s back to console, "It’s all Mommy’s fault, Mommy will never do it again."
