Chapter 1155: Chapter 604: Extra: No More Love for Him 2_2
He lazily sat on the sofa, his gaze revealing a shrewd wisdom, and his expression remained unchanged.
Andie had only ever seen Chester Robinson on television, and now upon meeting the real "QCS" behind-the-scenes president, she was slightly agape, astonished by how much younger and more handsome Chester was in person than on TV, and her face flushed red.
Chester’s secretary approached Alice Robinson with a smile, "Miss Robinson, our Mr. Robinson has been waiting for you for a while."
Seeing Chester’s secretary, the joyful expression on Andie’s face instantly dimmed. How could even the secretary of her male idol be leagues more attractive than her?
Alice lightly nodded and walked over.
"Have a seat!"
He smiled, gentlemanly and elegant.
Alice sat down on the sofa opposite Chester and calmly said, "I’m curious, Mr. Robinson, why you flew all the way from New York to Paris to discuss business with me?"
Chester’s secretary was already pouring wine for Alice.
The aroma of red wine made the atmosphere somewhat hazy.
Yet Alice’s heart was steady and calm.
Chester’s secretary handed the wine to Alice with a smile, "Miss Robinson, this is the Lafite that the president specifically brought from New York."
Alice graciously accepted the red wine but did not drink it; she simply placed it on the table.
Chester smiled and said, "Miss Robinson, are you not fond of this wine?"
Alice calmly replied, "You’re overthinking, Mr. Robinson. I’m just waiting for it to breathe." With that, Alice lifted the wine, sniffed the aroma while holding the glass, then took a sip, and smiled slightly at Chester.
Chester smiled faintly.
Alice spoke, "Sorry, Mr. Robinson, there are still many matters at my company that require my attention... Let’s get to the point!"
Chester nodded, put down his wine glass, and slowly spoke, "Miss Robinson, you’re so smart; you must know why I came to Paris this time."
Alice calmly said, "I’m not as clever as Mr. Robinson, so I hope you can enlighten me."
Chester’s expression slightly darkened, his voice carrying an innate kingly strength, "Regarding Edward, I hope to settle things peacefully."
Alice smiled and said, "Sorry, Mr. Robinson, I don’t understand what you mean by ’settle things peacefully’?"
Chester leaned back on the sofa, adjusted his posture, and looked at her with interest, "My subordinates came to talk to you a few days ago, hoping you’d withdraw the lawyer’s letter against Edward."
Alice squinted slightly, "Mr. Robinson should be aware, your company’s design director Edward led my company’s financial director Coco to falsify accounts, swallowing our funds and causing significant financial damage to my company — a severe infringement on the soon-to-be-listed ’Tench’... If I don’t sue Edward, how can I make up for my company’s financial shortfall?"
Chester chuckled lightly, "Miss Robinson, there’s no need to be so tense. I actually asked you here today to discuss this matter... To be honest, ’QCS’ recently secured a construction project initiated by the German government. The construction part of the project is undertaken by Geoffrey, while our company is responsible for the project’s architectural design. At the time, the agreement we signed with the German government stated that Edward would be the principal architect. But if Edward attracts a lawsuit now, it would cause us to breach the contract with the German government, which I’m sure Miss Robinson knows would damage our company’s reputation, leading to significant financial losses."
Alice seemed unmoved by Chester’s explanation; she calmly said, "Are you saying, Mr. Robinson, that compared to your company’s losses, my company’s losses are insignificant, and so I shouldn’t sue Edward?"
Chester’s deep, penetrating eyes narrowed to a line, smiling faintly, "What I mean is, if Miss Robinson is willing to settle this privately, I am prepared to compensate ’Tench’ for the damages caused by Edward, and there’s room for negotiation.
Alice stood up, coldly addressing Chester, "I’m sorry, Mr. Robinson, I conduct my affairs with social conscience in mind. I don’t know if Mr. Robinson wishes to shield Edward for the sake of profit, but for me, bringing Edward to justice is what I must do for society, and I am not greedy. I only want what was originally mine."
Chester looked into Alice’s resolute eyes and smiled.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Robinson, I believe we’ve discussed everything that needs discussing... I have other matters at my company; I’ll be leaving now." Alice turned coldly, stepping away.
Andie quietly followed behind Alice, with beads of cold sweat on her forehead.
Suddenly, "Alice—"
A magnetic, low male voice, faintly familiar, came through.
Alice halted, her straight back trembling slightly.
Andie was taken aback.
Chester’s tall, robust silhouette had already moved in front of Alice, looking tenderly at her, his voice slightly hoarse, "Shouldn’t we talk about other things?"
Andie covered her mouth, watching the male idol standing so close, puzzled by the way he looked at Alice.
At this moment, Chester gestured with his hand.
Two bodyguards appeared from nowhere and escorted Andie out of the box.
In the spacious, vast private room, only Alice and Chester remained.
Chester raised his hand, intending to gently stroke her hair as he used to, but his motion froze mid-air. He softly said, "Why the short hair?"
The woman before him was no longer the one with long, dazzling black hair like seaweed from a year ago. She had cut her hair very short, looking neat and clean, but she no longer had the youthfulness and innocence she had a year ago. She seemed like someone who had seen a lot of the world and understood it deeply.
Her attire today was even more modest...
A typical office lady outfit, accentuated by mature makeup, she looked like a strong and capable woman with no hint of weakness.
The Chanel light perfume she once loved had now been replaced by mature Dior perfume.
She...
Had completely transformed into a different person, no longer the Alice he once knew.
If there was anything unchanged, it would be her eyes.
Still clear and beautiful, like water, yet her eyes had no warmth, no longer the once familiar zeal.
She was as calm as a spring in the mountains, flowing, yet devoid of warmth.
Unless truly a stranger, she couldn’t help but think of the person he once was upon seeing him now.
The current him, clad in a gray suit that fit his tall frame perfectly, with well-groomed hair, aside from the hairstyle, he hadn’t changed much in appearance from a year ago. But his aura had completely transformed.
