Chapter 1217: Transmutation [Super Gift Bonus Chapter]
Zuri’s ability wasn’t an affinity for ice just because she could create a blizzard, nor did she possess multiple elements like Asher. Her ability was called Transmutation, and in simple terms, it allowed her to perfectly change the state and shape of things, as long as they were non-living.
Her ability to create a blizzard was simply a matter of transforming and manipulating the existing air and space around her into whatever she desired, nothing more. It was through this ability that she was also able to heal herself whenever Asher injured her, transmuting her flesh and restoring her body to its original state.
But, of course, there were a few limitations to her ability, although they weren’t particularly significant. For example, if she wanted to transform an enemy attack directed at her into something else, she had to expend more energy than had been used to power the attack before she could transmute it, which, in a sense, wasn’t much of a limitation.
However, when it came to attacks like Asher’s, which were powered by Star Energy rather than Astra Energy, she couldn’t transmute them and could only block them or employ another method of dealing with them.
Using her Transmutation ability, she manipulated space, forming a Spatial Wall before her. She didn’t merely create it; she strengthened it, pouring Astra Energy into its structure to reinforce its durability.
As Asher’s attack arrived, it slammed into the Spatial Wall with battering intensity. The entire battlefield fell silent for a moment before an incomprehensible explosion erupted from the slash, energy spreading outwards in every direction without restraint. The Spatial Wall could barely hold on, cracking like a mirror as the demolishing energy from Asher’s attack seeped through its fractured surface.
Zuri immediately vanished from where she stood, her figure appearing in the sky. The moment she disappeared, the Spatial Wall collapsed, and the explosion surged forward, unleashing a massacre unseen before as the destruction continued to spread.
The battlefield stood unrecognizable, if it could still be called a battlefield at this point. The land was exhausted, the land was dead, and oxygen seemed to no longer exist within the space, as everything within the area had been erased, leaving only countless deep sinkholes scattered across thousands of kilometers.
As Zuri hovered in the air, she heard something whistle through the atmosphere. Her senses snapped towards it, identifying it as a dagger, and her hand blurred as she caught it. But the moment she did, Asher appeared in a purple flash, his hand already in motion as he arrived, his teleportation having transferred its momentum.
With a downward swing, Virelass tore through flesh with sickening ease as Asher severed her arm at the shoulder. But the moment he did, tendrils of flesh erupted from the amputated limb, various blades embedded within them, each tendril moving to dice him apart.
Asher’s body exploded into bolts of lightning as he dodged in time. Once his body became whole again, he snapped his fingers, and with a humming sound, Star Energy answered his call as countless Light Swords formed in midair, their numbers reaching into the millions.
Without a shred of hesitation, the Light Swords tore forward with insane speed. Seeing the incoming attack, Zuri reacted immediately, activating her ability as she granted herself a pair of wings. With a flap of those wings, she vanished into the sky as numerous tendrils of flesh erupted from her body, each one moving to intercept the incoming Light Sword attacks.
Although they seemed like ordinary Light Swords that anyone with a light affinity could create, she wasn’t fooled. Just by destroying a few of them, she could already discern the destructive properties these Light Swords possessed.
As she moved, Asher’s body suddenly appeared before her, emerging from one of the Light Swords as he transferred himself into it.
It was just like what he had done in the Lightning training chamber, when he had transformed into a bolt of lightning, transferred himself into one, and reached the clouds, as well as the summit of the Lightning Mountain. He had created the same skill with Light, allowing him to appear through the Light Swords.
Although Zuri had been caught off guard, she didn’t panic. She simply manipulated space, tearing open a portal before her so she could vanish into it. But Asher refused to let her escape, his Star Energy coming alive as he poured his Astra Energy into the portal, attempting to forcefully take control of it.
The portal seemed to malfunction for a moment, but that moment was all Asher needed. He teleported beside Zuri, who could no longer enter the portal, and swung at her neck. However, the wind around Zuri twisted and transformed into a metallic barrier. Asher’s blade met the metallic surface with a heavy clang that slammed into everyone’s eardrums.
Zuri took control of the sound, amplified it, and unleashed it as a sound-wave attack. But Asher was already gone, having teleported away. However, he didn’t merely teleport to safety; the moment he vanished, the Light Swords surrounding Zuri shone before exploding with devastating force, unleashing an eruption of energy that engulfed the entire sky and its clouds.
But Zuri hadn’t taken the attack head-on. She had manipulated the metallic barrier into forming a complete shield around herself, allowing her to withstand the explosion. However, it didn’t matter, as Asher was already on the move once more. He appeared before the metallic barrier, and although he couldn’t cleave through it with his full strength, that didn’t mean he couldn’t bypass it.
His body phased through the metallic barrier as he immediately froze the space surrounding himself and Zuri. But Zuri wouldn’t allow that to happen, as the metallic shield changed its properties into flames the next moment. With a thought, a ruinous explosion erupted as orange flames and burning force consumed everything in the sky.
But Asher didn’t need to dodge, as he was immune to flame-based attacks. He simply continued his assault regardless of the explosion, his rapier singing through the smoke and flames as he aimed for her neck. Zuri had expected Asher to at least dodge, as even this level of catastrophic explosion wasn’t something his Light Armor and Lightning Armor could withstand.
Asher’s rapier tore through her chest as he attempted to rip her chest open and tear out her heart. But Zuri, who could transmute her own flesh, simply hardened her skin, reducing the damage she sustained.
She didn’t hesitate to transition into another method of attack, her Transmutation ability changing the churning smoke between herself and Asher into pure poison, so potent that it needed only a split second to take effect.
Asher’s body halted for a moment as he spat out a mouthful of poison and struggled to breathe it in, his organs thrown into disarray by the deadly substance.
Zuri capitalized on the opening as her body snapped shut, her injuries healing almost instantly. Her fingers shot out like a spear towards Asher’s chest as she aimed for his heart. Just as the attack was about to land, Asher’s body vanished in a purple blur as he teleported towards the Mark on the dagger he had thrown earlier.
Since he had severed Zuri’s hand at the shoulder, the dagger was still in her possession, held within the severed limb, allowing him to teleport directly to it.
But he hadn’t merely escaped.
As Zuri’s attack missed, all she saw of Asher was a floating dagger; he had left it there within the same timeframe he used to escape. Asher teleported to the dagger, appearing beside Zuri once more. Virelass, covered in lightning and light, shot forward as Asher slashed at her neck.
