Claimed By The Alpha I Defied
Chapter 12: A DANGEROUS MATE
Chapter TEN
"Take your hands off my wife."
The cold voice behind me made my entire body freeze.
Leo froze too.
Slowly, he released my arm.
I turned around.
Cassian stood a few feet away, his expression cold and unreadable.
But his eyes were different.
They were dark with rage.
His gaze moved from Leo to me and then back to Leo.
"Alpha Cassian," Leo said nervously.
Cassian took a step forward.
"Did I stutter?"
Leo immediately stepped back.
"She is my wife."
"I was only trying to talk to her."
"You were holding her."
Leo swallowed.
"I..."
Cassian grabbed him by the collar and slammed him against the wall.
"You touched my wife."
"Cassian!"
I rushed toward them.
"Leave him alone!"
Cassian didn’t even look at me.
Leo struggled against his grip.
"I didn’t do anything!"
Cassian tightened his hold.
"Apologize."
Leo glared at him.
"Never."
Cassian punched him.
I gasped as Leo’s head snapped to the side.
"Stop!"
Cassian grabbed him again.
"You should be grateful I’m letting you walk out of here alive."
Leo wiped the blood from his mouth and glared at him.
"This isn’t over."
Cassian released him.
Leo stumbled backward.
He looked at me one last time.
"This isn’t over, Alex."
Then he turned and ran.
I watched him disappear.
"Leo!"
I took a step after him.
"Alex."
Cassian’s voice stopped me.
I turned around.
He was staring at me.
"What?"
He walked toward me.
"Who was that?"
"My ex."
His expression changed.
"Your ex?"
"Yes."
His eyes narrowed.
"So that was another one."
I frowned.
"Another what?"
"Man."
I stared at him in disbelief.
"What are you talking about?"
His jaw clenched.
"How many men have there been, Alex?"
My mouth fell open.
"What?"
"You heard me."
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Stop fucking lying to me."
I flinched.
"I am not lying."
"You expect me to believe that?"
"Yes!"
He stepped closer.
"You knew who I was."
"I didn’t."
"You approached me in the woods."
"I didn’t know you were the Alpha of the Night Pack!"
"You knew enough."
"I knew nothing!"
His eyes burned into mine.
"You knew exactly what you were doing."
My anger finally exploded.
"What exactly do you think I did?"
"You knew who I was. You knew what would happen."
"I didn’t know anything!"
He laughed bitterly.
"You expect me to believe everything that happened this morning was a coincidence?"
"Yes!"
His eyes hardened.
"You allowed me to mark you."
"I didn’t even know what you were doing!"
"You told me you were bound to me."
"Because I am!"
The words escaped my mouth before I could stop myself.
He froze.
I swallowed.
"I didn’t know you were him."
"Then why did you come near me?"
"I didn’t!"
"You expect me to believe that?"
"I don’t care what you believe!"
His expression darkened.
"You should care."
He stepped closer.
"I am the Alpha of the Night Pack."
"I know."
"You are my wife."
"I know."
"And you have already made a fool of me once."
"I did not!"
Before he could say anything else, a familiar voice came from behind us.
"What is going on here?"
I turned.
Peaches was standing there.
Her eyes immediately went to Leo, who was already disappearing down the corridor, and then to me.
Her expression changed.
"You!"
She stormed toward me.
"So this is what you were doing?"
I frowned.
"What are you talking about?"
"You’re unbelievable!"
She pointed at me.
"First you couldn’t leave my husband alone, and now you’re trying to steal him after marrying Alpha Cassian?"
My eyes widened.
"What?"
"You’re such a slut!"
My face burned.
"Watch your mouth."
"You’re a prostitute!"
Peaches stepped closer.
"Wasn’t it enough that you ruined everything before? Now you’re trying to take my husband too?"
"I didn’t do anything to your husband!"
"You were alone with him!"
"He grabbed me!"
She scoffed.
"Of course. Everything is always someone else’s fault."
"You saw what happened!"
"I saw you running after him!"
"I was trying to get away from him!"
"You expect me to believe that?"
I clenched my fists.
"You’re insane."
Peaches’ face twisted with anger.
"Why can’t you leave us alone? Isn’t it enough that you have taken everything from me?"
"I have taken nothing from you!"
"You’ve always wanted what belongs to me."
She stepped closer.
"You’re jealous because he chose me."
I stared at her.
She actually believed this.
"You’re the one who married him after knowing what he did to me."
"And you still came after him!"
"I didn’t!"
"Liar!"
She raised her voice.
"You’re nothing but a desperate little prostitute trying to take every man you can get your hands on!"
My body went still.
I couldn’t believe she had just said that to me.
But before I could respond, Cassian stepped forward.
He towered over Peaches.
His expression was terrifying.
"Never speak to my wife like that again."
Peaches’ face immediately lost its color.
Cassian took another step toward her.
"If I hear you call her that again, I will break your neck."
Peaches’ lips parted.
"Alpha Cassian, I..."
"Leave."
She didn’t move.
Cassian’s eyes narrowed.
"I said leave."
Peaches immediately turned and ran.
I stood there in silence.
Cassian turned back toward me.
His expression hardened again.
"So that is the kind of man you associate with."
I stared at him.
"What?"
"Your ex."
I shook my head.
"You don’t understand anything."
"Then explain it."
"He left me."
Cassian’s eyes narrowed.
"He left you?"
"Yes."
"Yet he came back tonight."
"I didn’t ask him to."
"You expect me to believe that?"
I was tired.
So tired.
"I don’t care what you believe."
His eyes darkened.
"You should care."
"Why?"
"Because I am your husband."
The words made me laugh bitterly.
"Being my husband doesn’t mean you own me."
His jaw tightened.
"You seem to forget who you’re speaking to."
"No. I know exactly who I’m speaking to."
I stepped closer.
"You’re the man who thinks I planned all of this. The man who thinks I deliberately approached him in the woods. The man who thinks I knew who he was and seduced him."
He said nothing.
"I didn’t."
His eyes remained fixed on mine.
"I didn’t know your name. I didn’t know you were an Alpha. I didn’t know you belonged to the Night Pack."
"You expect me to believe that?"
"Yes."
"And if I don’t?"
I lifted my chin.
"Then do your worst."
His eyes widened slightly.
"I am not scared of you."
"You should be."
