Civilization Chronicles: Rise of the Divine Creator

Chapter 653: How The King Met His Queens

  • Next Chapter

"Well, that went well," Marianne grinned as she and her Marital Sisters walked beside their husband towards their bedrooms in the private residential wing of the palace after having big farewell to the former king and their various children.

Hayden, as expected, left the banquet alone, much to the disappointment of the many ladies who had requested to keep him company tonight, while the princes had each been eager to ’escort’ their new ’friends’ home.

As for the princesses... well, with their father practically sending death-glares at all the men who tried to approach them...

In any case, Natasha followed up with a calm nod to her First Sister’s comment, "En, things are proceeding as planned."

As the chief architect behind this announcement, as well as the one in charge of the whole trade conference project, she had long anticipated such an outcome. As far as Natasha was concerned, it would have been far more shocking if the nobles and diplomats gathered tonight hadn’t reacted so strongly.

"It went better than planned!" Cynthia chimed in cheerfully, "The envoys from each of the four nations all expressed great interest in the conference! If we hadn’t ended the banquet soon after, I’m afraid they would still be pestering me with questions about it."

"The hard part is what comes next," Nathanial mused, "There are a lot of things we’ll need to prepare, not the least of which is increasing the production of those agricultural machines and having all the large landowners adopt them."

"That shouldn’t be too hard," Cynthia cut in, reporting excitedly, "I admit, it’s been a few years since I tried sowing seeds, reaping wheat, and then beating it to separate the chaff, but I can still remember how time consuming and difficult it was back then. Using the seed drill, harvester, and thresher was so much easier and faster!"

None of the other royals present was the least bit surprised that Cynthia, the legitimate daughter of a Count-Rank noble house, had personally experienced farming like a peasant, or that she had snuck out at some point to test the new agricultural machines when they weren’t paying attention.

Breaking rules and experimenting with interesting new things was just what Cynthia did. How she ended up with such a mature and responsible daughter like Christina was anyone’s guess.

Natasha concurred with her Third Sister, "If it’s profitable, greedy nobles and wealthy land owners will do it even if we don’t want them to, and using the 3 farming machines is very profitable."

The irony of one of the most powerful and influential nobles in the Rockwell Kingdom, who also happened to be the undisputed wealthiest of them all, saying this was not lost on Natasha’s husband or sisters, but they wisely decided not to point this out.

Natasha was the calmest and quietest of them all, but she was also the scariest when she got mad.

Instead, Marianne just laughed, "True, true. Even my family asked me tonight if they could purchase a few sets in advance to try out on our farms back home."

The Campbell Family was a military focused one and definitely not known for its agricultural prowess, but as the most powerful Earl-Rank nobles in the nation, they certainly owned quite a bit of farmland.

What’s more, if the Campbells made a purchase of the new farm machines, the Eashan Marquess Family would make one too, if for no other reason than to make sure they didn’t fall behind their rivals.

"All excellent points, my lovely ladies," Nathanial smiled as his eyes swept over the three women walking around him, his gaze lingering one each of them for a noticeably longer time than normal.

Naturally, the queens noticed this and the smiles on their faces all grew a little bigger as a result.

Marianne, as the First Wife and Eldest Sister, even took the initiative to slide up next to Nathanial and grab his arm, gently nestling it between her substantial assets which were barely contained by the bold cut of her black and red dress, the same colours of her battle armour and great-axe.

Natasha and Cynthia, respectively in their green and blue dresses, also moved closer, though they didn’t go quite as far in teasing their hubby as their big sister did.

The trio were very much enjoying how Nathanial simply couldn’t stop staring at them tonight. They may have been married for decades and all had adult children already, but that didn’t mean they had grown tired of one another.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

Marianne, Natasha, and Cynthia all still shared intimate moments with Nathanial on a fairly regular basis, be it flirting with one another in the hallways of the palace, sneaking out into town on dates, or simply relaxing together in their rooms after a hard day’s work.

Of course, more intimate moments tended to happen when Nathanial and one of his wives found themselves alone... in the dark... with a bed or at least something soft to lie on nearby.

Each of them was over 100 years old, but none of them were even close to losing their youthful spark; such were the benefits of having a high cultivation, you didn’t just look young, your body and mind retained qualities of youth as well.

Nathanial was doubly lucky in that his three wives got along surprisingly well, making it much less troublesome for him to ’manage’ them, not that he did much of that anyways.

Him marrying each of them because he loved them helped immensely in that respect.

Marianne was a childhood friend, the two of them having been together the longest by far.

Natasha had been introduced to him by his Great Grandaunt Ariana, and while the two of them had been a bit nervous at first, it was actually Marianne who broke the ice between them as she very much liked Tasha, thinking she would make a great addition to their little family.

As for Cynthia, Nathanial had met her long before they got married; not at a ball, or at some noble banquet, but by a random riverside in the Royal Province where they had both, coincidentally, gone fishing that day.

It was like fate, and after several more run-ins at more ’proper’ events, Nathanial eventually worked up the courage to ask Marianne and Natasha to accept Cynthia as their Third Sister.

The First and Second Queens had met Cynthia a number of times by that point as well, and they both found her quite agreeable, and while they would never admit it, the two of them both enjoyed spoiling their husband a bit, so it didn’t take much convincing for them to agree, a decision neither of them had regretted ever since.

This was close to an ideal situation, much unlike how it was in most polygamous relationships.
