City’s Best Divine Doctor

Chapter 2269 - 2229: Psychological Disorders

Ye Qiu had just gone out to use the bathroom, and when he came back, he saw Ling Fei’s grandmother talking to that Zhou Xiaojv about something.

Ye Qiu and Ling Fei were sitting outside. Honestly, there wasn’t anything fun for him here—it was just an ordinary urban village. If it got demolished in the future, everyone here might become multimillionaires, but right now it was still pretty poor, everyone had to rely on their own jobs to make money.

Ye Qiu planned to send Ling Fei back to school after lunch; as for coming again in the future, he probably wouldn’t.

"Ling Fei, I’ll go buy groceries with you."

Zhou Xiaojv said.

There was a vegetable market near this urban village, but it took about half an hour to walk there, and around ten minutes by electric scooter.

Usually, Zhou Xiaojv would ride the electric scooter over.

"No need to buy groceries, I’ll treat you all to a meal. What’s good to eat nearby?"

Buying ingredients and cooking was quite a hassle, especially with so many people in the family.

What was good to eat nearby?

In Zhou Xiaojv’s opinion, the best food around here was probably at that seafood street restaurant.

But a meal there would cost at least over a thousand yuan.

Just as Zhou Xiaojv was about to say something, Ling Fei leaned to her ear and whispered, "Auntie, if Ye Qiu says we should eat out, then let’s eat out. He doesn’t mind spending this bit of money."

"But he’s a guest, how can we feel right about spending his money?"

"Auntie, Ye Qiu really doesn’t care about this kind of thing."

If it weren’t for Ling Fei, Ye Qiu definitely wouldn’t have come.

Since that was the case, Zhou Xiaojv no longer planned to go buy groceries.

Now that her mother had recovered, it was only right to treat her mother to a proper meal and celebrate.

"Ling Fei, call your parents over too, the more lively the better."

Ye Qiu said.

Ling Fei was calling Ling Zhengwei.

After picking up, Ling Zhengwei said he would ride his electric scooter over later.

Ling Zhengwei had also gone to get his driver’s license, but he hadn’t passed yet, he’d only passed subject two; for him, it really was quite difficult.

The rest of Ling Fei’s uncles, cousins and so on were all called back as well.

Around eleven in the morning, they arrived at that seafood restaurant.

The environment of the urban village in this area was like this. Because it counted as a relatively outlying part of Jiangnan and hadn’t been developed yet, apart from some small factories and rental housing, there really weren’t many people.

Rich people wouldn’t drive here to spend money either.

Now the group went into a big private room at the seafood restaurant, which could seat more than twenty people.

Right now there were just over twenty of them, and it still felt quite spacious.

When the waitress brought the menu for them to order, Ye Qiu said, "No need to order, just bring us all your best dishes."

The waitress understood.

After the waitress left, Zhou Xiaolan already knew that just now Ye Qiu had treated her mother’s heart disease, and now her mother’s heart condition was completely cured—in other words, her mother was fine now.

For children and grandchildren, elders being healthy is the best gift.

Elders don’t have to feel they’re a burden to their children, and the children don’t have to be affected by this either.

Everyone was chatting and laughing there; Ye Qiu, on the other hand, spoke very little.

Before long, the waitress started bringing in all the restaurant’s best dishes one by one.

From the look of it, Ye Qiu felt the level here was about the same as those big food stalls.

It’s not that food stalls are low-level—some food stalls cook better than hotel chefs. Mainly, the portions are big, it’s just that they might not look as clean as hotel dishes.

In reality, aside from not looking that great, they still smelled very fragrant.

They brought out over twenty dishes in total, almost one dish per person.

Seafood, meat, vegetables—everything was there.

Ling Fei had been helping her grandmother and mother with food, and also picking dishes for Ye Qiu.

This meal went on until after one in the afternoon; everyone was very full.

When one of Ling Fei’s uncles was about to go pay the bill, Ye Qiu said, "Uncle, no need. I said I’d treat everyone, and I meant it."

The whole meal came to just two or three thousand yuan, which really didn’t count for anything to him.

After Ye Qiu and Ling Fei went to pay, they were going to send her grandmother back, and then he planned to send Ling Fei and Zhou Xiaolan home as well.

As for next time, he might not come again.

When they got into the car, Zhou Xiaojv looked like she wanted to say something but held back, as if she had something to talk to Ye Qiu about.

"Do you want to say something?"

"I have something I want to discuss with you in private."

"Sure."

After giving her his phone number, Ye Qiu drove off toward the printing factory.

Just now, Zhou Xiaolan had ridden over on Ling Zhengwei’s electric scooter in a skirt, which was definitely uncomfortable, but now it was different sitting in a car.

After dropping off Zhou Xiaolan, Ye Qiu drove back toward the Teachers College.

When they arrived back at the Teachers College, Ling Fei returned to school; she still had classes that afternoon.

Ye Qiu didn’t have anything else to do now, so he planned to go back to the Peach Blossom Source Villa Community.

When he got back to the Peach Blossom Spring Villa, aside from Xiaomai practicing piano out of boredom, there was naturally no one else there.

Ye Qiu had originally wanted to keep a dog, but Ye Weidong and his wife felt that dogs smelled too strong, and that having a dog in the villa, with that smell, would be uncomfortable.

Since that was the case, Ye Qiu didn’t keep a dog or a cat; usually Xiaomai could only feed the fish and so on.

When Ye Qiu went upstairs, Xiaomai followed him up.

"Ye Qiu, let me give you a massage."

"I’m not that tired."

"I don’t have anything to do right now."

"Then give me a massage."

Ye Qiu lay on the bed while Xiaomai gave him a massage at the side.

After four in the afternoon, his phone rang; it was an unfamiliar number.

"Hello, this is Ye Qiu."

"Doctor Ye, I’m Ling Fei’s aunt."

"Miss Zhou, what did you want to say?"

"I have a psychological problem and wanted you to take a look."

A psychological problem?

Isn’t that a mental issue?

Could what Ling Fei said actually be true?

Psychological illness is often called mental illness.

Mental illness is caused by internal and external pathogenic factors acting on a person, resulting in brain dysfunction, which destroys the integrity of brain function and the unity between the individual and the external environment.

The basic symptom of mental illness is disordered mental activity, leading to abnormalities in cognition, emotion, will, and behavior, to the point that one cannot maintain a normal mental life, and may even commit acts that harm oneself or the social collective.

Psychological illness is very common; the difference lies only in degree. Moreover, modern civilization has increasingly separated humans from their natural attributes—pollution, a fast pace of life, tension, an unprecedented flood of information, complex social relationships, changes in routines, divergent consumption preferences, the widening gap between the ideal of fairness and unfair realities, overindulgence, and so on—all of these make psychological illnesses more frequent and more severe.

There are many kinds of psychological illnesses, with different manifestations, and it’s possible that more and more previously unnoticed or already rationalized (not considered psychological illnesses) problems will appear.

With the changing times, many new psychological disorders have been discovered as well.

Ye Qiu thought Zhou Xiaojv seemed perfectly normal, no different from an ordinary person. How come she considered herself to have a psychological illness?
