Chapter 852: Assassins Attack

“It’s time,” I said, and I immediately moved toward the manor with my group.

Our skills are active with our bodies merging with the night.

We reached the compound and moved past it, avoiding the guards.

They are good, but not good enough to discover us.

Soon, we reached the manor’s window and stopped. A moment later, Bamis moved forward and opened it with his skills. It is a locked window, but for him it’s not a problem.

Even if it were bolted shut, he would have been able to open it.

The window opened, and we moved through it without being noticed by the guards standing not far away from it.

As we went inside, we began to move toward the suite. According to our intelligence, that whore should be sleeping at this time. It is a pity to kill her like this, and I am thinking about waking her for a moment before killing, letting her feel her own death.

It is such a pity that she is going to get such a quick death.

Killing her quickly is the last thing I want to do. I want to torture her until she regrets even knowing the whore that killed my brother.

‘Mission leader, the target is not in the bedroom,’ a voice came in my mind from the team leader of team three.

The communication skill should only be used when it is extremely important. We do not want to be discovered before we reach the target.

‘She is not there?’ I asked, surprised. She should be there, sleeping.

‘Have they discovered us?’ I asked myself. That wouldn’t be good. As much as I want to kill her painfully and slowly, getting discovered wouldn’t be good.

This place is filled with guards, and some of them are quite powerful. However, none of them is a match for me.

We didn’t kill a single guard; we wouldn’t unless we have to. It’s not because we are merciful, but because killing them would raise an alarm.

It’s something we didn’t want to do before we finish the target. After that, we will kill anyone who comes in our path.

‘She is in the back garden, practicing aura,’ informed team leader two.

It made me frown. She doesn’t usually practice at midnight. She does in the morning, but there have been a few instances where she woke up in the middle of the night and practiced.

‘Move to the back garden, but do not engage with the target until I arrive,’ I ordered and changed the directions.

I have been in this manor before when we controlled the city with our puppet, but Silver had conquered it. It was a mistake to trust a puppet to proved to be incapable.

We should have taken control of the city directly.

Then there wouldn’t have been a rebellion, nor would we have suffered the heavy loss as we did.

It didn’t take me long to reach the back garden, and I saw her.

She is standing on the grass, with the aura moving around her. Seeing the aura swirling around with the control I didn’t have, I couldn’t help but feel envious.

Her control is better than mine; it shouldn’t have been. There is only a month of difference between us, and Knight Liorian himself is training me.

I felt the envy, but soon it was replaced with anger.

I didn’t give in to it and looked around. I could see her two bodyguards standing at a distance; there were also eight other guards at different positions in the manor.

They wouldn’t be much of a challenge; other than those two, the rest will be easy.

Three seconds passed, and all three teams reached the lawn. Covering all four directions, at that time, there is no way she will leave alive.

‘I am moving at the target, handle the rest,’ I ordered. I pushed the Shadow Walk at full power as well as Faded Presence, while gripping my icy dagger tightly.

She is my target, and all it would take is one good attack to finish her off.

I activated Dance of Silken Thorn, the heritage skill, and also Heartpiercer. I wanted to call out to her before I kill her, but I am not feeling confident enough for some reason.

So, I want to quickly finish the whore as soon as possible.

The dagger reached halfway toward her when, suddenly, a blade materialized out of nowhere, covered in flames.

Clang!

My dagger clashed against the familiar fiery blade, and I turned to the woman it belonged to.

She suddenly appeared as she teleported. One moment, there was nothing; another moment, she was in front of me with my icy dagger locked against her fiery blade.

“You will pay the price for killing my sisters,” said the woman and attacked, with her eyes blazing with all the fury in the world.

At the same time, people began to materialize out of the shadows and move toward my men. They are still hidden, but the enemies seem to have sensed them.

‘This is bad,’ I thought as fear was enveloping my heart.

Elgan Doris

I leaped over the wall and landed on the grounds of the manor before moving forward with my team behind me.

There is a sensory field around the manor, made of investigation skills.

I activated Silent Intruder, covering my men and me with it. It is a powerful skill, especially when combined with my men’s skills, creating a field that renders us invisible to sensory perception.

We reached the window, and I activated Assassin’s Key. It let me silently open any door or window to my target.

I opened it, went inside, and moved toward the parlor. It is where the target is, according to my skill, Target Track.

Once I get sight of the target, it lets me track them. Its range is not high, nor do I need it to be. I am an assassin specializing in urban assassination. I am not a jungle assassin or scout.

Soon, I reached the parlor from the outside and entered.

It would have been much easier to kill the guards inside guarding the door, but that might have triggered the alarms or skills, and I want to avoid that.

If possible, I want to make it so guards wouldn’t notice it for minutes or even hours.

It will give us enough time to escape.

I looked at the room and saw three people sitting there. The governor and his wife are sitting on the sofa, while an older, fat man is across from them.

There are only three guards in the room. Two belong to the Governor, and the third belongs to that man.

“..right, son. It was a wise decision on our part to spread our assets across the empire. We lost the gamble, and we lost a lot, but it didn’t destroy us,” said the fat older man with a sigh.

“The house of Hardts will rise again, Father,” replied the woman, sitting beside the governor.

If they knew the death was approaching, they wouldn’t be talking so carefreely.

“I have a feeling the Greltheaven Dominion will play a large part in our rise,” said the older fat man. The Governor nodded at his father’s words, and then he turned his head slowly.

He stopped and looked directly at me.

‘He shouldn’t have discovered me,’ I thought, feeling his eyes. He is Lv. 30, but early on, while I am only a step away from Lv. 40.

“Gentlemen, it’s not polite to enter someone’s house without invitation,” said the Governor to my shock.

There was no change in the woman’s face, but the fat man looked alarmed.

Earlier, I had faint doubts, but I am now sure he has sensed me and feels my location. His skills are not powerful enough to do that.

I pushed those thoughts away and looked at the man.

“My apologies, Governor, but I have been ordered to,” I replied without coming out of invisibility, and quickly moved toward him at my full speed.

Since I got caught, there is no need to hold back anymore.

I could feel the fear in his eyes, but there was also a strange confidence. It feels like he is scared of the act rather than me doing it.

He seemed to have no fear of me.

I reached close and was about to move my blade to attack him when suddenly an arc of glittering diamond fire materialized out of nowhere in front of me.

I looked at the arc and the woman behind it—the only threat to me in this city.

She shouldn’t have been here. She should have been in her house sleeping.

There are so many questions, but I pushed them all away and focused on the glittering arc of fire. It will kill me if I don’t defend against it.

Velara Boltas

I entered the house and moved toward the bedroom, avoiding all the guards on the way.

It might not seem like it outside, but her security is as good as that of the other three governors. She is Silver’s friend, and he trusts her very much.

She is also a very powerful Earth Mage.

I love fighting mages; the overconfident bastards looking down at everyone. Unfortunately, this op needs to be quick and clean. There are Lv. 40s in the city.

While I would have loved to fight them, I will not be their match if they gang up on me. I might not even be able to escape.

So, I controlled the urges and moved toward the bedroom, before reaching it a few seconds later. There are guards on both sides, but they didn’t notice even when I appeared beside them.

I didn’t even glance at them, activated Door Phase, and took a step forward.

When I first got the skill, it used to let me open the doors and windows, but after two advancements and Lv. 40. It let me simply phase through the doors.

Many rogues envy this skill of mine, and it is an envious skill.

I stepped through the door and prepared for the attack when I saw the woman sitting on the bed with a staff in her hand, looking directly at me.

She is not alone; there is another woman, looking very angry with thin sparks of lightning dancing on her unsheathed blade.

She is a dangerous person, but she didn’t alarm my Dangersense as high as the man beside her did. He is a handsome one and is wearing a uniform that suits him quite well.

“You have taken your sweet time. We have been waiting for you for a while,” said the woman with golden brown hair mixed with silver strands, and she got up with a crystal on her staff blazing in power.

“Fuck!”

While all I could do was curse, which made the woman grin, I did not like that smile one bit.
