City of Desire [Kingdom Building]

Chapter 714: To The City

“Now, we ride,” I said to it and activated Command Projecting.

Projecting an image of it galloping across the wasteland.

Neigh!

The moment it neighed loudly, while lightning lit up its bright form, we moved at a speed that I had never seen anyone move before.

It shocked me.

Not the speed, but its action. I thought I would need to project the command repeatedly, before it would listen, but it listened instantly.

It had put a smile on my face, but after a moment, I realised something.

“Wrong direction,” I said.

It is moving toward the north, where the Extreme Magic Region is, but we have to move toward the west, that is where the Greltheaven is.

I projected that, but there was no change.

It didn’t listen to me. It is running because it wants to, not because I ordered it.

“So, you want the hard way,” I said, and a moment later. Velvet Repel morphed into the curved wall and pressed against it.

Neigh!

It neighed, but the wall kept pressing it, slowly changing its direction till it was moving west.

Though a second later, it tried to turn again, but the forcefield stopped it.

Bam!

Making it hit its head hard against it.

That wasn’t enough; it tried again and again, but every time it tried, it found the forcefield stopping it. There is no way to move other than straight.

“You are one persistent monster!”

It took over fifteen minutes to understand what was happening before it finally stopped trying to turn.

“Faster!” I said and projected an image of moving faster.

It is already moving very quickly, but it is slower than the speed used in the tide.

It didn’t immediately increase the speed. So, kept projecting the command over and over, until finally, it had listened.

Neigh!

It neighed loudly and increased its speed. Within seconds, it became faster than it had been in the tide, and its speed kept increasing.

“Yes!” I screamed joyfully as I felt the wind hard against my face.

“Go faster!” I commanded, and it moved fast. Incredibly fast, everything became blurred that I needed to activate, Lord Eyes, to see.

‘My lord, slow down,’ the voice of General Hiren rang out in my mind.

“Faster!” I said instead.

Today was a bad day. I need this, and I want this monster to go as fast as it can.

It went faster and faster, till it became incredibly fast, even with the Lord’s Eyes. I started to struggle. So, I put some aura into it.

“That’s my boy,” I praised and petted it gently, but it sent a bolt toward my hand, which I defended.

“You are mine now. I will take good care of you.” I could see the joy of speed, and I don’t want the slow beasts anymore. I want this monster, and I will break and tame it.

I was thinking that when I remembered something.

Swift Speed!

I activated the skill from the Rider Class, and I could feel the surprise in the monster. It tried to resist it, but I forced open the way with Lord Presence, and a moment later, my trainer class skill covered it.

Its speed increased a little, but a few seconds later, it burst into greater speed as I pushed the aura into it.

Minutes passed, and I made it faster and faster, before changing the strategy and focusing on taming and control.

I activated Trustful Presence, under Lord’s Presence, and began to project simple commands, such as taking a curved path instead of a straight one.

Slowing and increasing the speed.

It resisted for nearly an hour, but I wore it down, little by little. It began to accept these suggestive commands.

I kept the commands simple, because it will not accept the complicated ones.

Suddenly, a smile appeared on my face, and my skills became powerful. The skills of the lord class as we entered my territory.

My Lord Class is stronger in my territory.

A few minutes passed, and I slowly deactivated every skill aside from Lord’s Presence and Trustful Presence. I would activate Command Projection and Velvet Repel only when necessary.

I had even reduced the power of Lord Presence by 25%, which I would instantly increase whenever I sensed it trying something.

It is necessary because of the aura.

It had been over two hours since I had brought it out, and it was starting to tire me out.

That is why, half an hour later. The Lord’s Presence begins to run at 50%. There is no choice, if I want to keep my aura active, until I reach the city, I will have to do it.

Hun!

Suddenly, I increased the aura to full power, and immediately, it stopped what it was doing.

A second later, I reduced the power to 40%.

Now, Lord’s Presence is enough; I rarely need to use the Velvet Repel. Although I would activate it the moment I feel I need it.

I looked up in the sky and saw the bird. It is the only thing that is following me.

It belongs to one of the rangers.

I have outpaced my men. It had been over an hour since I last saw them. They tried to follow me, but their beasts are too slow.

This beast, by contrast, is swift—faster than anything I know, faster even than the Grade V bear we fought. It appears to have been designed for speed.

Right now, I am riding it as fast as it can go, but it is not its fastest speed.

It is injured. Once it is fully recovered, it will show its real speed. It won’t take long; by tomorrow or the day after that, it will recover fully, and I will be able to experience its full speed.

Half an hour passed, and I could see the riders coming from the direction of the city; they were familiar.

They are members of the cavalry.

Hiren likely contacted them, and they came from the other side.

“Lord Silver,” the leader greeted. I nodded. “I will be going ahead, captain,” I said to the man and sped past him. He tried to follow, but soon fell behind.

Cavalry has the fastest beasts, but they, too, are slow compared to this beauty.

Soon, I reduced my aura to only 25%. Spiking it to full power, every few minutes as it tried to do something, but it began to happen less and less.

A few minutes passed, and I could finally see the city.

Seeing it, a smile appeared on my face, and I moved to the road. Yes, I have not been riding on the road; there have been people moving on it.

Now, there is not. They have stopped it at my command.

Soon, I reached the new outer wall; there is no wall yet, but there are buildings.

I could see people watching me from a distance, with guards keeping an eye on everything as I rode through it.

Momentarily, I reached the river and I projected the image of us riding on it.

I could use the bridge, but the river sounds more fun.

Neigh!

I thought there would be resistance, but it neighed loudly and increased its speed. I quickly sent command after command to slow it down.

It slowed, but not as much as I liked, but enough.

Finally, its hooves stepped on the river, but never sank—too fast for that.

Immediately, I was riding on the water of Trollmouth River, leaving a streak of water and lightning behind.

“Good boy!”

I could see people watching me from the bridge, the port, and the ships that were still moving across the river.

I’m having fun, but I’m sending commands to the beast to avoid the ships. Thankfully, it is listening; it also didn’t want to crash into those ships.

It feels amazing to ride on the river. I had moved through it with speed, but it couldn’t be compared to this.

The river is vast, but we reached the end of it too quickly.

Approaching the city, I controlled my emotions and activated the complete suppression with the Lord’s Presence.

I am in the city, with thousands of people watching. I need to be very careful.

It would have been safer if I had dismounted before reaching the city, but I needed to ride through it. Let my people see me.

Such displays boost morale, and the city very much needs that.

So, I rode through the port with thousands of people watching me from a distance. The speed is slower, but not as slow as I would like it.

Still, it is listening.

Soon, we reached the gates and rode through them. Immediately, I felt my legacy and its power. On the other hand, it reacted differently.

I could feel it stiffening as we entered the environment; it had never encountered anything like this before. The port was open; the city wasn’t.

Bam!

It wants to turn back, but I didn’t let it. This will be its new home.

A moment later, I brought the suppression of the whole legacy on it. Making the poor monster freeze in its place instantly.

I eased it immediately and felt it getting a little stubborn, before activating command projection.

This time, it listened without hesitation. The presence of legacy is something he could not bear. Especially since it didn’t feel the same as before, and it doesn’t know how to process it.

I rode this eye-catching monster while people watched from their houses, roofs, and at a safe distance.

The police had kept the people at bay, but even they looked scared, feeling its powerful presence, but there was also awe in their eyes.

Finally, I reached the cavalry ground where Luskin, Stone, and others were standing beside a large cage.

It is not made of magic-suppressing material, but it is strong enough to contain powerful monsters like this.

I dismounted and turned to the monster, dissolving bridle and bit, but despite that, it remained in its place.

“Inside,” I commanded, and I could feel the monster didn’t want to, but as I increased the suppression, it entered inside the cage.

It will be its home till it is fully broken and tamed.

“Good boy,” I praised as it went inside.

The next moment, a bright red apple appeared in my hand, and I fed it through the gates and closed them, before turning to the people standing beside it.
