Chosen as the Cursed Alpha's Seventh Bride
Chapter 326 Together
Chapter 326: Chapter 326 Together
Emilia’s POV
Sebastian’s eyes went wide. He reached to haul me up. I caught his wrist and stopped him.
"Emilia, this isn’t—" Mila startled too, alarm and confusion warring across her face. Titus didn’t move a muscle.
"Mila. Titus. I’m sorry." I kept my chin up. "I thought I could give you what you wanted. When it came to it, I couldn’t. I can’t stomach my husband in another woman’s bed. Even if you won’t have me as your daughter-in-law, I won’t live my life by that arrangement."
Neither of them spoke. Sebastian growled, "Get up. Let me handle them."
I shook my head at him and turned back to Titus. "Titus. Sebastian only said he’d leave the pack house, that he’d walk away from the pack, because his blood was up. For an Alpha, that’s reckless talk, and he knows it. And I’ve failed in my part too. As his Luna, I haven’t stood at his side the way I should."
Some of the granite went out of Titus’s face. I pressed on. "I’ve always known what my infertility would cost this pack, what it would cost Sebastian. But I’ll seize any chance to fix it, even a one-percent chance. All I’m asking is time. In return, Sebastian and I will build this pack up stronger, run the company harder, and stay loyal to it for the rest of our lives."
Sebastian dropped to his knees at my side. "I’ll face it with Emilia. Push her, drive her out, and I walk out that door right behind her."
I shot him a glare. Not one word of that helped.
We held there, both sides locked in the standoff. At last Mila let out a breath. "All right. Get up, both of you."
"Mila. Have you forgiven me?"
Mila sighed and dipped her head, slow. "I have."
I looked to Titus. "And you? Do you feel the same?"
Titus said nothing. He turned and walked back to his room.
"Up you get," Mila said, sliding a hand under my arm to lift me. "His silence is his blessing. That’s how he gives it." She tipped her head toward her son. "It’s late, and you’re both worn through. Go upstairs. Rest."
Sebastian seized my hand and towed me up the stairs.
The moment the bedroom door clicked shut behind us, Sebastian pulled me into his chest and locked his arms around me like he thought I might dissolve if he let go.
"I’m glad you didn’t cave to my parents and their ridiculous demand, Emilia."
I buried my face against his shirt and held on just as fiercely. "Sebastian, I’ve been such an idiot lately. So arrogant, so wrapped up in my own misery that I lost track of who I even am. I stopped thinking. I shut you out of my own problems like you weren’t standing right there. I’m so sorry, Seb..."
The words cracked halfway through, and before I could stop them, the tears spilled over.
He caught the hitch in my voice and drew back, cupping my face in both hands, thumbs brushing under my eyes. "Sweetheart, you’ve turned into an absolute crybaby these days."
"Do you ever not ruin the moment?"
"You’re the one ruining it, drowning our victory in a puddle of guilt." He tilted my chin up. "Look at us. When we pull in the same direction, there’s nothing we can’t crack. You just catastrophize things that haven’t even happened yet."
"You literally announced you were quitting the pack and going rogue five minutes ago."
"And if I’d gone rogue, I’d have made a damn fine Rogue King." His mouth twitched.
"So I spoiled your grand escape plan."
"If admitting that gets you to stop blubbering, then yes."
I pinched his side, hard. "I was not blubbering."
"Sure." He hooked an arm under my knees and swept me off my feet.
I yelped and threw my arms around his neck, heart lurching. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"I’m celebrating." He grinned down at me, carrying me toward the bed. "You’re finally bickering with me again instead of moping around like a ghost or burying yourself in work at three in the morning."
He was right, and I hated that he was right. I’d been bitter and pathetic for months. "I’m sorry. For all of it."
He laid me down against the pillows and traced a knuckle along my cheek. His green eyes had gone quiet, all the sharp edges smoothed away.
"Emilia, don’t apologize. I know you love kids as much as I do. When I found out we might never have any, it gutted me. But you, you might be the one losing the chance to be a mother. Whatever weight you’ve been carrying, the grief, the heartbreak, it’s ten times heavier than mine. A hundred times. So I don’t blame you. I only need you to remember something, for all the moments ahead of us." He paused, his thumb resting at the corner of my mouth. "We face this together. I’m not a flawless mate, the Moon Goddess knows that, and I’m working on it. But let’s build this life with everything we’ve got. Our future. Together."
Somewhere deep in my mind, Eve stirred, warm and content. He means every word, she murmured. Hold on to this one.
For once, I didn’t argue with her.
I looked up at him, at the raw honesty in his face, and something inside me came loose and settled all at once. I lifted my hand to the back of his neck and pulled him down, pressing my lips to his, slow and sure.
I drew back, searched his eyes. "That meant more to me than you know. And what I swore to Mila and Titus tonight. I’m going to fix this. All of it. With you."
I brushed my thumb over his jaw. "Together."
