Chapter 2158 - 2158: A Graduating Senior
…
Leading Shin and Selena to one of the training rooms underground, Professor Herny smiled. “Let’s simulate the conditions that you have within the game.”
“Selena may not be proficient with the method that we have discussed earlier, but she at least has some methods related to controlling them and even more,” he added.
Upon entering the training room, Shin immediately spotted the individual sitting cross-legged right at the entrance of the room. This person seemed to be in deep meditation, barely releasing any fluctuation of energy.
In a sense, he also could not feel any presence from this person. He also lost track of this person from time to time. If not for his Spiritual Sense locking onto this person and his eyes not leaving their figure, he would most likely have missed them completely.
“This-… this level of erasing one’s presence-… is it some sort of stealth technique?” mumbled Shin while observing this person.
He himself also knew how to use such techniques. However, most of his stealth techniques were derived from mentalism methods that he had at the moment.
On the other hand, the other party seemed to be truly merging with nature, making the other people believe that he was a part of it.
“Such a stealth technique was highly advanced and would most probably not lose to any top assassins on the same level,” mumbled Shin.
Selena, who was walking right beside him, overheard his mumbling and smiled. She first leaned toward him and said. “This is your first time seeing Senior Randel, right?”
“Senior Randel?” repeated Shin before finally figuring out the identity of the person sitting at the center of the training room.
This was his first time entering this training room since most of the facilities here were specifically designed to match the needs of every member of the research department, so Shin was mostly using the ones that were meant for his training sessions.
He had heard that most of the senior members of the department and the club were either staying in the training rooms or out doing missions, who were mostly the Senior Students within the academy and were able to graduate at the end of this school year.
He rarely met most of these senior students, so he was not too aware of their presence. He just knew there were other seniors in the department besides the ones he regularly met and trained with, but he did not know much about them.
Selena giggled while watching Shin, who thought about her words before continuing. “You actually think that Senior Randel is an assassin? Then this training that the professor has arranged for him to restrain his temper is actually working.”
“How about I tell you that he is a warrior-type martial artist through and through?” she added while giggling.
“A warrior?” Shin was shocked when he heard those words.
Given the current scene before him, it would be strange to say that he was wrong. After all, the stealth technique before him was real.
From his perspective, it was even more advanced than Vincent’s to a certain extent.
A moment later, he finally picked up a keyword from Selena’s words. “Control his temper? His Temper?”
Selena continued to giggle as she replied. “That’s right. He has a very fiery temper, which is much worse than Rock’s. He tends to always pick an unnecessary fight whenever he wants, which somewhat affects the missions given to him.”
“In the end, Professor Henry had given him some assignments, which targeted his temper,” she added before turning to the figure sitting right at the center of the training room. “The training seems to be quite effective, and the result is right before us.”
Turning his gaze toward Randel, Shin could not help but mumble. “Is this related to the seven emotions and six desires?”
This time, it was Professor Henry who had replied to him. “That’s right. I gave Randel a special meditation training to harness his emotions properly. I even hope that he can use this as some sort of weapon if possible.”
Hearing this, Shin could not help but recall Vincent and Jeremiah.
However, if what Selena had said was true, then his senior should be a bit stronger in terms of utilizing such a technique. After all, Randel seemed to be capable of doing both the explosion of bloodlust and keeping the killing intent to himself based on their words.
Not long after, Randel finally perceived the presence of the three and slowly opened his eyes.
Boom!
Right after he opened his eyelids, Shin immediately sensed an extremely strong bloodlust that instantly dominated the surroundings.
However, this bloodlust only lasted for a couple of seconds before being swiftly retracted by Randel. It was extremely brief, but Shin could tell that this senior must be extremely strong, most problems a notch stronger than the other seniors from the Sleeping Dragons.
“Professor,” said Randel as he greeted Professor Henry in an extremely respectful manner. He gave the latter a bow that signified his respect and gratitude toward the old processor.
“It seems like your gains are quite huge compared to our last meeting,” said Professor Henry while observing Randel.
From his perspective, he could instantly tell that the latter had almost reached the goal that he had given them.
“It is all thanks to the professor’s guidance,” said Randel.
He then turned his gaze toward Shin and Selena, who were standing slightly behind and on each side of the professor.
“Junior Selena, Junior Shin,” he greeted, to which the two returned with respect as well.
“It has been a while, Senior Randel! You feel like a monk now compared to what you used to be,” Selena giggled right after the greeting, before suddenly adding. “I just hope that it is not ‘suppression’ this time.”
Hearing the latter part of her words, Randel could not help but show a rare, embarrassed look on his face before replying. “That method of suppressing one’s emotions and desires was a mistake.”
“To transcend them, one needs to accept them before breaking free from their constraints,” he added.
He then turned to Shin and laughed. “This must be the extremely talented junior who has joined our department recently. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Seeing you now, I must say that everything that they have said is true. This makes me want to have a round to exchange our martial insights with each other,” he added while a fierce fighting spirit appeared in his eyes before instantly disappearing once again.
As if waiting for this ‘cue’, Professor Henry suddenly chimed in. “You can have that chance if you want.”
Turning his head toward the professor, an excited look flashed in Randel’s eye when he heard this, albeit extremely briefly. He managed to keep it to himself immediately after.
However, Shin managed to catch it in that instant, giving a shiver that brief wash over his entire body.
It seemed to be a much worse feeling compared to what he felt when he heard that Selena would be helping him with this special training.
“I am originally planning to let Selena help us with this training and use the special environment of this room to stimulate the ideal environment,” said Professor Herny. “But since you are here, things will be much easier.”
He then turned to Selena. “You will be responsible for keeping Randel’s emotions in check while he spars with your junior.”
He then returned his gaze to Randel and continued. “Have a quick spar with this junior of yours for a bit and see how good he is. Just make sure to follow my signal from time to time when I tell you to keep your bloodlust in check.”
Randel was confused at the strange instructions at first, but he immediately forgot about them, fully trusting the instructions given to him.
After all, as a graduating student from the department, he knew how Professor Henry dealt with these things.
His training methods were always effective.
In the meantime, Professor Henry turned to Shin and instructed. “You, on the other hand, need to limit yourself to the same conditions as you have within the game.”
“You can neither use your elemental powers nor specific techniques that you can’t use within that place. Aside from this, you are free to use whatever,” he added.
Shin then nodded his head heavily, adjusting his form and preparing himself. He was not familiar with Randel at all, so he did not know what kind of methods he had.
However, based on what he heard from Selena, Randel seemed to be a warrior, a true martial artist, so he would most likely fight him head-on.
The only thing that worried Shin was the faint presence that the other party had. He was losing track of the other party from time to time despite his gaze not leaving Randel.
“I guess this is going to be a bit tricky as well,” he mumbled while activating his True Sight Technique and locking his eyes on the other party.
