Chapter 2139 - 2139: Burden of the Legacies
……
Doran paused for quite a while, giving Shin a deep and meaningful look. He maintained that look until the latter felt a bit uncomfortable before saying. “Actually, one of the reasons why I have come down from the upper floors to meet you is because something is bothering me.”
He looked at Shin up and down for quite a while before continuing. “You-… are quite odd for a Transcendent Being.”
“You are supposed to be a descendant of Zheptus, a Nephilim. Yet, you possessed an inheritance from both a True Fallen and a High Human.”
“I do not care much about the other inheritances that you have gotten from others since both Mondi and Regan are from the lineage of a regular human before they became an Ascended Being from their respective means; Ascended Humans to be exact.”
“An inheritance from a High Human is not that surprising either, since the Nephilim Race has quite a connection with them, especially when Zheptus himself is a close friend of one of the leading figures of the High Humans.”
“But to think that you even inherited the eyes of the Duplicator. Your fate is truly quite entangled with a lot of troublesome people.”
Shin frowned deeply when he heard those words, especially when this was not the first time that he had heard something like this.
The first was when Longinus, the leader of the mysterious instructors in the Aurora, had warned him about the ‘Duplicator’s Eyes’ that he had gotten from Supremo.
(Reference Chapter 1399)
Unable to suppress his curiosity, Shin could not help but ask. “Elder Doran. Just who is Supremo? And why am I asked to avoid using his inheritance in front of other people?”
“Supremo?” asked Doran for a moment, quite confused with the unfamiliar name, before realizing something. “Ah! Is that the name that he is using these days?”
“During our time, he used to call him ‘Duplicator’ – the Duplicator of the Supreme Temple,” he added.
He then paused for a moment to recollect the knowledge he knew about this particular person. “Even though I do not actively partake in battles in other areas against the invading demons during that era, and solely focus on our homeland, I still heard about the achievements of multiple heroes that appear one after another.”
“From what I know, the Duplicator is one of the mysterious leaders of the Supreme Temple. There are even rumors that he is the one who founded that organization-… or at least one of the founders.”
“He is a man filled with mysteries, especially when no one knows about his true identity. All I know is that he is quite close with multiple Transcendent Beings due to him being one of the few who have first become High Humans.”
“A lot of people look up to him, along with the others who feared his strange and terrifying abilities. Those eyes that he possesses are capable of copying anything, which gives anyone who becomes his target extreme dread.”
Smiling bitterly, Doran added. “I heard that he likes to make friends and is easy to get along with, which is why quite a lot of people like him.”
“Unfortunately, as much as he has a lot of friends, he has also created quite a lot of enemies. Those eyes have earned him quite a lot of jealousy and envy from other people. He even provokes a lot of people, even during the most desperate time of our world, which is why many find him unpleasant to the eyes.”
“On top of his overwhelming power, there is a great number of people who find him extremely dangerous due to his uncontrollable nature.”
“They want to eliminate him, but no one has succeeded until I am thrown at my ‘prison’. Aside from his perfect art of disguise that makes him extremely hard to find, his swordsmanship, which has reached an unprecedented level, is also one of the main factors that discourage them from facing him head-on.”
“Yet, despite all the underhanded tricks that they come up with, no one succeeded at trying to take him down.”
“I also heard that he is quite close with the Divine Seer of our era, which further increases the jealousy and hostility of people who want him dead, particularly her worshipers and admirers.”
“There is even a rumor that there is a massive battle between the Duplicator and an Honored One, who was pursuing our generation’s Divine Seer, right before I was thrown in the Terror of the Four Great Seas.”
“I do not know the result of that battle, but since the Duplicator is still alive, I must say that he is the victorious one of that battle,” added Doran.
Shin furrowed his brows and asked. “Why can’t it be that Honored One?”
Doran chuckled when he heard this before answering. “There has never been a person who has walked out alive against the Duplicator. They either died under his sword and got their abilities copied-… or should I say stolen from them? …-or disappeared from this world forever.”
“Those are the only outcomes that people who dare to antagonize the Duplicator.”
“He never cared about the background of those people-… or how helpful they were during the invasion of the Demon Race.”
“He always said that he would only have to kill a dozen Great Demon Kings to ‘compensate’ the ‘lost’ of powerhouses from our side during that war.”
“Even the Royalties and the Imperial Family of the Divine Empire can’t do anything to him, which is why even the religious groups tolerate his antics, especially when he is truly helpful during the invasion.”
“From what I have heard, he should be on the same realm as the Immortal Emperor, earning him such a special status.”
With these bits of information, Shin somehow gained a decent understanding of Supremo, who seemed to be commonly known during the Repelling Era as the Duplicator.
After organizing and digesting this information, he proceeded to ask about Kentas. “What about the Phantom King?”
“Phantom King?” Doran was confused for the second time before understanding who Shin was talking about. “Ah~! The True Fallen?”
“So, he goes with the title of the Phantom King now, huh?” mumbled Doran before continuing. “The True Fallen is quite a special individual.”
“He is neither human nor undead, yet he possesses their unique abilities. Some say he used to be a devotee of the Goddess of Life, one of her most loyal and devoted believers. He even possesses the title of the Head Inquisitor of the Church of Life before their annihilation.”
“During the Warring Era, where the conflicts between the ‘Gods’ of the higher plane extended to their believers here in the lower plane, a certain controversy shook the entire world.”
“It is said that one of the close allies of the Church of Life has betrayed them, secretly converting the believers of the church to become one of theirs.”
“Even the Pope of the Church of Life has become a traitor, who has betrayed his fate and caused a massive massacre in their holy land.”
“It is later revealed that the Great Judge, the God of Justice, coveted the divine authority of the Goddess of Life and God of Death. He wants to seize their powers so that he can become the true ruler in the higher plane and ascend to the throne of being a King among the Gods.”
“With his divine authority to judge the dead and the living, if he can also gain the divine authority of life and death, he will be able to control the cycle of reincarnation and become the one great judge that governs the life and death of all things under the heaven.”
“This will also give him the same level of power to contend against the Old Gods of the Divine Realm such as the God of War, who also become the God of Destruction at that time; the Moon Goddess, who is the mother of all elves and the goddess of the night; the Nameless God, the god without a name, but possess a lot of titles; and others.”
“Then there are the new gods, such as Atlas God, the human who has ascended to the throne of divines; the God of Blacksmithing and Craftmanship, the ancestor and guide of the dwarves; the God of the Beasts, the said god who consumed all kinds of beasts to ascend to the throne of the previous Beast God.”
Reaching this point, Shin could not help but recall the historical record that he had seen from the Forgotten Temple, which was left behind by Hydros, the God of Primordial Waters.
(Reference Chapter 1612)
‘The Old Gods should be considered the Immaculate Beings, right? The ones who have already existed since the founding of time. And those of them with multiple laws, or divine authorities, are called the Absolute Beings.’
‘But there are only extremely few of them due to the series of wars that broke out throughout multiple eras. The War God, the Moon Goddess, and the Nameless God should be among the few of them who are still living.’
‘Some of these Old Gods should also be the Boundless Beings, who are lesser beings that have comprehended the laws of the universe and gained divine authorities through it. The likes of the Ancient Queen of the Shadows should be among them.’
‘As for the New Gods, they should be the ones who have won during the War of Gods and Mortals and ascended to divinity. They then seize the thrones of those fallen gods and take their divine authorities. They should be considered as Boundless Beings as well, right? Or there is another term for them?’
Shin nodded after confirming that the information that he had gotten from the Forgotten Temple was most likely accurate.
However, since it came from the Era of Gods and Immortals, there should still be a huge gap in them, and they needed to be updated.
Shin was still distracted by his thoughts when he was suddenly brought back to reality by Doran’s next words.
“Unfortunately for the Great Judge, his plans failed since the God of Death at that time had discovered his plot and stopped him from seizing the divine authority of life.”
“Unfortunately, almost all the devotees of the Goddess of Life had been wiped out while the goddess herself had said to be seriously injured by the Great Judge and his accomplices in the higher realm.”
“The God of Death was already too late at that time,” Doran sighed when he reached his part before continuing. “The Goddess of Life was already on the verge of losing her authority, so she decided to pass it down to her sister instead, the Goddess of Creation, who also came to her aid.”
“The Goddess of Creation then used the combined authorities under her command to vanquish the Great Judge.”
“The Great Judge was seriously injured and forced to retreat while his accomplices died in the process. Unfortunately, the Goddess of Life still went to eternal slumber due to over-exhausting herself and losing her divine authority.”
“This made the God of Death and Goddess of Creation enrage and wage an all-out war against the Great Judge and his church.”
He then paused and looked at Shin solemnly. “These were the revelations that the messengers, envoys, maidens, and saints of each church and temple had gotten from their respective gods.”
“Not long after, it is also revealed that the sole survivor of the Church of Life is bestowed by the God of Death and Goddess of Creation with both of their blessings.”
“He used to be a human devotee of the Goddess of Life and her head inquisitor. However, after failing to defend his church and the sanctuary of his goddess on this plane, he had forsaken his humanity and turned himself into a vengeful spirit.”
“The Shrine of Creation accepts all races to be the believers of the Goddess of Creation, while the God of Death governs the power of death, so most of his believers were Undead from the Umbra Empire, which established the Temple of Death.”
“Under the baptism of the two churches and their respective deity, the Phantom King, who was then known as Inquisitor of Life, has become the first and perfect Fallen Human; he became the ‘True Fallen’.”
“He then became the Executioner of the two Churches and started hunting down the believers of the Temple of Judgement along with the churches of the gods that took part in the battle in the higher plane.”
“The slaughter was so brutal that the other churches could no longer tolerate it anymore, especially when their believers and devotees were starting to get swept by this war.”
“This then led to one of the largest wars that broke out during the Warring Era, which was also the start of the true legend of the True Fallen, who seemed to go by the name of Phantom King during this era.”
“Too many have fallen under his blade, particularly those who tried to stop him from the ‘mission’ that the God of Death and Goddess of Creation had given him.”
“In a sense, he is the most wanted ‘criminal’ of most of the churches, particularly the ones that had gotten involved in that war, who were also blaming him for why such a huge and bloody war had broken out.”
Doran then paused, gave Shin a meaningful look, and said. “You, brat, seem to carry the most troublesome legacies on yourself.”
“I suggest you keep a low profile and limit your usage of their legacies until you are strong enough to carry yourself.”
“Once the enemies of those two learned about you, then surviving is the least of your worries,” he warned with full seriousness.
