Child of Destiny

Chapter 1137 Artificial Mutants (Part 3)

As Shin and Leonard watched the battle while keeping a close watch of their surroundings, they suddenly felt that the back of their necks were being grabbed by someone. And before they could even make their moves, their vision turned into a blur as they could feel that they were traveling at an extreme speed.

David, who was originally not moving, finally acted. He dragged the two without giving them the chance to resist before charging through the three battlefields.

Right after his foot touched the ground, he suddenly threw Shin and Leonard forward while saying. “Go! Finish it as soon as possible!”

Shin and Leonard, who were in midflight, quickly adjusted their bodies in the air before flipping and rolling in midair before they landed steadily on the ground. And right after they landed, they quickly sprinted forward without looking back.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Whoosh!

At the same time, when they acted, some movements could be heard coming from the depths of the mountain forest. Something was moving at an extreme speed while trying to catch up to the two.

But while it was in the middle of its run, David, who was keeping a close eye on it since earlier suddenly extended his hand forward before doing a gentle waving motion. He waved down his hand, such simple actions did not contain any power, nor a strong technique, yet the thing that was moving within the mountain forest sensed immense danger.

Bang!

It was about to make its move when, all of a sudden, a huge and heavy pressure fell from the sky and suppressed its movements.

David, who now had a pair of eyes that was releasing a blazing golden glow, stared coldly at the forest. He then made a grabbing motion in the air before strongly pulling his hand back.

Swoosh!

Alongside it, a silhouette suddenly came out from the depths of the mountain forest before being thrown on the ground.

Bang!

It was at that moment that David got a clear look at this hidden enemy.

Unlike the previous three artificial mutants, this one had a more ‘human’ appearance. Aside from its arms that had different shades of purple color and the thick veins that were almost bulging out of them, the rest of its body was no different from different people.

David was not in a hurry to attack it as he could sense that the moment he did, this particular mutant would undoubtedly explode with the power to retaliate.

He wanted to observe it for a few more moments and discover its real strength.

“Heh!”

While doing that, he suddenly heard a chuckling sound coming from the mutant. He raised his brows a little while thinking. ‘It is sentient. And it can even laugh in this situation!?’

To prove his suspicion, the mutant started laughing as it picked itself from the ground. Its shoulders were shaking violently as it laughed while standing up.

“Not good!” David felt a dangerous feeling coming from the mutant at that very moment. He quickly spread his feet wide and planted them firmly on the ground before crossing his arms in front of him while also summoning a thick mentalism barrier.

Bang!

He suddenly contracted as he could not see the movements of the mutant clearly. It suddenly appeared in front of him while swinging its fist forward.

What surprised him, even more, was that the mentalism barrier that he had set up could not even stand a single hit from the mutant. Then its fist continued to advance further before colliding with his arms.

Bang!

He was then sent skidding backward as he nullified the rest of the force that he got from the impact. “That simple punch has that much power?”

He looked at the long trail that his feet left on the ground, with a deep frown. Fortunately, he did not immediately attack earlier, or else he would most likely suffer a serious injury during the counterattack.

“At least, I am pretty careful,” he muttered before looking at the mutant a few meters away from him. It maintained its previous posture when it attacked him, standing in an awkward position while keeping its head low.

Its long hair was blocking its face, making David unable to see its real appearance. For some unknown reason, he felt that he knew what was this mutant before it turned this way.

Then the mutant suddenly raised its head. David felt that his soul was being stared upon when he saw the bloodshot eyes of the mutant. But he quickly regained his composure as he was able to immediately cast a ‘Mind Cleansing Technique’ right before he suffered any kind of damage.

“Soul attack? It can even send a soul attack?” he muttered as he stared at the mutant in shock.

And at the same time, his eyes turned even wider as he was finally able to identify the mutant. “His hair is a bit different, but his face is clearly of that person!”

“Alexander Leon of the fallen Leon Tribe Household!” he muttered in complete shock.

During the big incident that took place in the main region, the Springfield Family and their military forces clashed against the branch of Shadow Alliance hiding in that area.

At the same time, the Leon Tribe, one of the noble families of the region, was eradicated by Nathan and the members of the Elder’s Council due to traitors.

At that time, David clearly remembered that this previous young master of that family, and a previous member of the Young Monsters of the Soaring Continent, died in battle. And Shiella was the one who took him down during that incident.

David also confirmed it. And from what he could remember, the military had disposed of the body of this guy alongside the others, yet he was now standing right in front of a mutant with the same appearance.

There was a possibility that this mutant just happened to have a similar appearance. But with his Enlightened Eyes could see through anything. And since he already saw Alexander Leon before, he remembered the person very well, particularly their aura.

And from what David could tell, this guy was indeed that fallen genius that had fallen after facing the Junior Dragoness of the Soaring Continent, Shiella Springfield.

“This is going to be more troublesome,” muttered David as he quickly understood his current situation.

Shaun and the other mutated subjects could already face Vincent, Jerimiah, and Laurent. And based on the information that they had, Shaun was supposed to have an average talent compared to top prodigies of the continents such as the Young Ghost of the Lost Soul Continent and Junior Monsters of the Soaring Continent, and others with a similar level of strength and talent.

Yet that guy with average talent could already face Laurent, who was supposedly on the same level as those top prodigies.

If that was the case, then David could already imagine just how scary the artificial mutant in front of him was. A top prodigy that was turned into a mindless zombie mutant would definitely be a dangerous opponent even for him.

“They took the corpse of Alexander Leon and turned it into a dangerous ‘weapon’ like this? Those guys sure are crazy!” muttered David as he quickly released the seal of his Limit Break straight to phase three without any hesitation.

At the same time, he took out a stack of talismans from his dimensional bag and threw them in the air before stretching his right hand to the side.

His Spiritual Force immediately gathered in front of his palm before materializing a golden staff.

At the same time, a suction force was suddenly released from that staff, attracting all the talismans that David had thrown in the air just earlier. They wrapped around the staff, making it much sturdier and more powerful.

He then grabbed the staff and assumed a fighting position. This time, he would not be playing around and instead fight seriously. He had to gather as much information as he could, but it seemed like it would no longer be possible that the situation turned like this.

“The rest is no longer important,” muttered David as he stared at the mutated Alexander. “I have to take down this guy and take him with me. I’ll bring it to Sir Elias for further study.”

Bang!

David decided to take the initiative this time since he was having a bad feeling about this. He knew that he had to finish the fight as soon as possible since this Alexander Leon was known to have the ‘Ever-Growing Bloodline’. Even if the latter turned out to be like this, the power of his bloodline should still be present within his body.

The longer the battle lasted the more dangerous it was for David, so he had to defeat this zombie-like mutant before it turned into a much more dangerous monster.

David lunged forward before stopping with a powerful stomp right in front of Alexander. At the same time, he swung the golden staff with as much power as he could muster.

Bang!

The ground shook violently before multiple cracks spread in every direction as Alexander blocked the golden staff with both of his arms.

Bang!

And with a delayed explosion, a meter-deep crater was created underneath the two followed by a massive explosion.

David wore a solemn look when he saw that Alexander only shook a little after forcefully facing his strike. At this point, he knew that this was going to be a very tough battle.

With a deep breath, he stared at the mutant’s bloodshot, yet lifeless eyes before saying. “Let me free you from your suffering.”
