Chapter 323: Chapter 206: Lu Fan: Who Bullied My Child! I’ll Return It Double! So Satisfying

The car drove out of Qingshan Village, heading toward Yangcheng along the country road.

The night was deep, and it was pitch black outside, with only the car’s headlights illuminating a small stretch of road ahead. Jiang Yixia sat in the passenger seat, watching the shadows of the trees fly backward, her mind a tangled mess.

Lu Fan glanced at her in the rearview mirror but didn’t disturb her, simply continuing to drive in silence.

After a good while, Jiang Yixia broke the silence, her gaze still fixed out the window. "These past few days... thank you."

Lu Fan paused for a moment, then chuckled. "Thank me for what?"

Although Jiang Yixia knew he was just playing coy, her tone was serious. "Thank you for the care and concern you’ve shown my parents these last few days. Repairing the aqueduct, catching fish, selling the fish... and cheering them up today. I know all about it."

"Of course. They’re your parents, which makes them my father-in-law and mother-in-law," Lu Fan said cheerfully.

"They might have been your in-laws in the past, but not anymore." Jiang Yixia was still drawing a clear line.

"Besides, once my parents find out the truth—that you’re the same bastard from all those years ago—any good impression they have of you now will completely vanish."

Lu Fan, however, was calm. "It’s all about the effort you put in. Who knows? Maybe when they find out I’m Sifan and Silu’s biological father, they’ll end up giving us their blessing."

Jiang Yixia shot him a glare, her voice tinged with exasperation. "In your dreams. My dad has said countless times over the years that he’d kill you if he ever saw you."

She gazed out the window, her feelings in a jumble. "Things can’t possibly turn out that well."

"Don’t worry. I’m confident that my actions will be enough to win their forgiveness."

Seeing how confident Lu Fan was, Jiang Yixia didn’t say anything more.

Soon enough, Lu Fan had driven Jiang Yixia back to her apartment complex.

Jiang Yixia looked at him. "Alright, we’re back in Yangcheng, so you can drop the act. Let your driver take over. You don’t drive often, so you’d better not crash into someone."

"Are you kidding me? I’m an old pro behind the wheel. A professional," Lu Fan chuckled.

Jiang Yixia rolled her eyes at him and walked into the complex.

Just before she left, however, she added, "Drive safe."

With that, she was gone.

As soon as she got home, Jiang Yixia’s phone rang.

She picked it up and saw it was Jiang Ming calling.

"Hey, Sis." Jiang Ming’s voice came through the phone, tinged with excitement. "I heard from Mom you went to the village with Lu Fan today?"

Jiang Yixia paused for a moment before answering, "Yeah. Mom tricked me into going."

"Mom was just doing it for your own good," Jiang Ming laughed, his tone teasing. "So, how was it? How did it feel seeing him?"

Jiang Yixia hesitated, not knowing how to respond.

Jiang Ming continued to coax her. "Sis, listen. Mom and Dad have been worried sick about you all these years. I can tell they’re really happy with Lu Fan. If you’re willing to forgive him, you two should get together. As your brother, you’ll definitely have my blessing."

Jiang Yixia froze.

She was silent for a few seconds before asking, "You’ve... forgiven him?"

Jiang Ming was also silent for a moment on the other end. "Sis, to be honest... I hated him because he abandoned you. But lately, I can see that he’s being sincere—sincere with you, with Sifan and Silu, and with our family. He can make you happy again. As your brother, what more can I say?"

Jiang Yixia’s eyes suddenly started to burn.

"As for Mom and Dad, if you don’t feel comfortable telling them, then let me do it. I..."

"Don’t," Jiang Yixia cut him off, her tone firming. "I’ll handle this myself. You stay out of it."

Jiang Ming paused, then replied, "Okay, Sis. I get it. In that case... you decide what’s best."

After hanging up, Jiang Yixia leaned back on the sofa and sighed softly.

She had no idea how her parents would react once they learned the truth.

’All I can do is pray they’ll forgive him,’ she thought.

...

Over the next two days, Pan Lanfang would occasionally call either Jiang Yixia or Lu Fan to ask how things were progressing between them.

But Jiang Yixia maintained that they were still just friends, only just getting to know each other, not wanting to give Pan Lanfang false hope.

But Pan Lanfang persisted in her efforts, hoping Jiang Yixia would forget that "scumbag" sooner. "I’m telling you, Silu and Sifan’s biological father hasn’t shown his face in all these years. He’s probably dead and gone by now. You need to stop fantasizing. This Xiaolu is a really great guy. You have to grab hold of this chance."

Hearing this, Jiang Yixia felt a sense of helplessness, but could only reply, "Okay, I know."

...

「Meanwhile, in Jinling.」

Jiang Sifan was in his studio checking the accounts when his phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up and saw that it was Jiali.

"Hello, Sister Jiali," Jiang Sifan answered.

Jiali’s voice came over the phone, her tone serious. "Sifan, regarding Xu Junjie spreading those rumors, I’ve already reported it to the police and filed a case. All the evidence has been submitted. The prosecutor’s office has accepted the case and will be filing charges soon."

Jiang Sifan was stunned.

He hadn’t expected Jiali to go straight to the police and press charges.

"Sister Jiali, this is... so fast?" he asked in surprise.

Jiali laughed, her voice now light. "When you’re dealing with people like him, you have to be fast, precise, and ruthless. Don’t worry, the evidence is ironclad. He’s not getting away with this."

Jiang Sifan was silent for a few seconds, then said earnestly, "Sister Jiali, thank you."

"Don’t mention it. You’re my friend, of course I’d help you. Anyway, I’ll let you get back to your work. Call me if you need anything else."

After hanging up, Jiang Sifan was thrilled. ’Xu Junjie is definitely done for this time,’ he thought.
