Chapter 306: Chapter 200: Mother-in-law Sets Up Lu Fan and Yixia, Great Success?

"I’m not going," Jiang Yixia said, her tone resolute.

Pan Lanfang sighed. "Alright, alright. If you don’t want to meet him, then don’t. But let me tell you, this young man is really reliable. If you ever change your mind, just let Mom know."

After hanging up, Jiang Yixia sat in her shop, spacing out for a while.

She thought about what her mother had said.

’Reliable, down-to-earth, good to his elders...’

Suddenly, the image of Lu Fan’s face surfaced in her mind.

She shook her head, pushing the thought away.

’Why am I even thinking about him?’

「Meanwhile, in Qingshan Village.」

Lu Fan left the Jiang Family’s home and got into his car.

He leaned back in his seat. Remembering what Pan Lanfang had just said, he felt a wave of emotion.

’That old woman... she really treats me like one of her own.’

He started the car and slowly drove out of the village.

Just then, his phone rang.

He picked it up and saw it was Jiang Ming calling.

"Hello, President Lu, are you asleep?" Jiang Ming’s voice sounded a little rushed.

"Not yet," Lu Fan said. "What’s wrong?"

Jiang Ming hesitated for a moment before stammering, "Um... did my mom... talk to you about a blind date today?"

"She did," Lu Fan replied. "What about it?"

Jiang Ming was silent for a few seconds before saying helplessly, "My mom... she wants to set you up with my sister. My sister just called me and spent the whole time ranting about our parents."

Jiang Ming continued, "President Lu, I have to ask you... are you truly serious about my sister?"

Lu Fan smiled. "Of course."

"Then you have to keep pursuing her. My sister... she has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. As long as you’re persistent, she’ll definitely come around." Jiang Ming sighed in relief, his voice full of encouragement.

"Okay, I got it," Lu Fan laughed.

After hanging up, he looked up into the distance.

The night was dark, and the village lights were scattered like stars.

He thought of Jiang Yixia’s perpetually tense expression, of the rare smiles that graced her face, and of her remark earlier that day: "Fast or slow, suit yourself."

He found himself fantasizing about the day they would reconcile and get back together.

The next morning, just as Jiang Yixia was opening her shop, she saw a familiar figure standing at the entrance.

Sister Li was beaming, holding up a bag of fruit. She gave it a little shake and said, "Sister Xia, are you free today? Come with me to the hospital."

Jiang Yixia froze for a second, then quickly asked, "What’s wrong? Are you sick?"

"It’s not me, it’s my husband. His herniated disc is acting up again, and he insists on going to the hospital to get it checked. I can’t handle him by myself, so I was hoping you could lend me a hand," Sister Li said with a dismissive wave, her tone light.

"Sure, just give me a second. I need to get a few things," Jiang Yixia said with a nod.

Sister Li followed her into the shop and sat down. Her eyes swept over Jiang Yixia, and she suddenly broke into a smile.

Jiang Yixia was baffled. "What are you smiling about?" she asked, curious.

Sister Li chuckled. "It’s nothing. Just noticed you have such a nice glow today. Your skin is radiant. What, sleep well last night?"

Jiang Yixia froze for a second. She turned away, blushing, and mumbled, "It was alright, I guess."

Seeing her evasive look, Sister Li’s smile became even more knowing.

She leaned in closer and lowered her voice. "Sister Xia, I’m gonna say something you might not want to hear. That President Lu... I know he was a jerk in the past, but I can see he’s been genuinely trying to win you over lately. If you still have feelings for him, you should stop being so stubborn."

Jiang Yixia kept her head down and continued gathering her things. "I’m not being stubborn," she said softly.

Sister Li looked at her, shook her head, and didn’t say anything more.

After a moment, Jiang Yixia was ready, and the two of them left the shop.

The sun was bright, and its warmth felt pleasant on their skin.

Jiang Yixia walked beside Sister Li, but her mind was still on the phone call from last night.

’Who exactly was that man Mom mentioned?’
