Chapter 291: Chapter 195: Lu Fan’s First Time Sleeping in the Bedroom with Jiang Yixia

As the bedroom grew quieter, Jiang Yixia realized that Lu Fan had fallen asleep.

Listening to the sound of his steady breathing, she felt as if it had been years since she’d last heard it.

At this thought, Jiang Yixia felt a pang of envy. ’How can this guy fall asleep so quickly, no matter where he is?’

’And in my own bedroom, no less. He really isn’t picky about where he sleeps.’

Though Jiang Yixia’s eyes were closed, she listened to Lu Fan’s breathing as her mind drifted back to things that had happened in the past.

Her thoughts were becoming a mess.

She didn’t even know what she was thinking anymore.

She then recalled the promises Lu Fan had made and began to mutter, "You dog... always lying... That’s how you tricked me into bed back then..."

Time ticked by, second by second.

In the bedroom, one was fast asleep, while the other lay quietly, listening to him sleep...

「Meanwhile.」

「Jinling Institute of Technology.」

The lights were still on in the studio.

Jiang Sifan and Wen Wan were poring over the account books, too busy to even look up.

Business had been picking up lately, and the two of them often worked late into the night.

Jiang Sifan rubbed his eyes and glanced at Wen Wan across from him.

Her head was bowed, the pen in her hand moving across the paper, her expression focused.

The light fell on her face, her eyelashes casting a small shadow upon her eyelids.

Her fingers gripped the pen, knuckles turning slightly white, and she looked incredibly focused as she wrote.

Jiang Sifan suddenly realized that Wen Wan looked quite pretty when she was focused on her work.

’Not in a stunning way, but she was just very pleasant to look at.’

He quickly looked away and went back to checking the accounts.

A little while later, Wen Wan rubbed her eyes.

Jiang Sifan saw that her eyes were getting a little red.

So he suggested, "Wen Wan, if you’re tired, you should head back. I can finish the rest."

Wen Wan shook her head, her voice a little hoarse. "It’s okay. Let’s finish it together. There will be more to do tomorrow."

As she spoke, she picked up a cup, took a sip of water, and went back to checking the books.

Watching her, Jiang Sifan suddenly felt a pang of guilt.

’This girl... she stayed with him to work overtime this late every day and never once complained.’

’She was always meticulous in the studio, never slacking off.’

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, he just said, "Alright then. Let’s hurry so we can finish up and head back sooner."

"Mmm-hmm~"

They worked for another half an hour before finally getting all the day’s accounts in order.

Jiang Sifan stretched languidly, his joints letting out a few pops.

He glanced at the time and jumped. "Holy shit! It’s already eleven-thirty!"

Wen Wan froze for a moment, then hurriedly began to pack her things.

As he packed, Jiang Sifan said, "Quick, quick, or the dorm doors will be locked."

The two of them hastily locked the studio door and sped off on the electric scooter toward the women’s dormitory.

The night was deep, and the campus was quiet, with only the streetlights still on.

Soon, they arrived at the foot of the dormitory building.

Wen Wan was dumbstruck.

The main doors were already locked.

Jiang Sifan rushed to the door, knocked hard, and shouted, "Ma’am! Ma’am, please open the door!"

It was pitch-black inside, and there was no answer.

He knocked a few more times, but there was still no sound.

Growing frantic, Jiang Sifan pulled out his phone to make a call, only to realize after a long search that he didn’t have the dorm manager’s number.

He knocked and shouted again until his hand was red, but there was still not a single response from inside.

Wen Wan, standing beside him, said quietly, "Stop knocking. The dorm manager is a real stickler for the rules. She locks the doors at eleven-thirty sharp and won’t open for anyone."

Jiang Sifan froze. "Then what do we do?"

Wen Wan lowered her head, not saying a word.

Jiang Sifan ran a hand through his hair, pacing anxiously.

He paced in front of the door a couple of times, then ran back to knock again. Still no response.

"Ma’am! Ma’am! Can’t you open the door just this once? We had to work overtime; we didn’t mean to come back late!"

Inside, it was still pitch-black, without a single stir.

Jiang Sifan stomped his foot in frustration, but there was nothing he could do.

He turned back to look at Wen Wan. She was standing under a streetlight, arms wrapped around herself, her hair fluttering gently in the night wind.

He couldn’t see her expression clearly, but Jiang Sifan knew she must be anxious too.

He walked over and asked with concern, "Are you cold?"

Wen Wan shook her head. "I’m not cold."

But her voice trembled slightly.

Jiang Sifan glanced around, then looked back at the tightly shut doors.

After thinking it over, he gritted his teeth and said to Wen Wan, "Then... then let’s go get a room."
