Chapter 285 282: Saved!
Chapter 285 282: Saved!
It was one of those rare moonlit nights, where the vast expanse of the heavens shimmered brilliantly, and countless stars twinkled resplendently in the night skies, appearing like precious diamonds scattered across a velvet canvas.
This ethereal and breathtaking view was reflected in the myriad of small, isolated ponds scattered throughout the expansive forest of the lesser dimension.
Only from an elevated bird’s eye perspective could one truly appreciate and savor the enchanting sight of a thousand beautiful skies at the same time, And in the entire lesser dimension, only Val, the astute observer, had the privilege to hold this unparalleled view in his eyes as he gracefully flew across the sky on his broom, relentlessly and determinedly honing in on Oliver’s precise location.
One might ask, why had he taken to the skies using the Flying Broom when he was in a rush to reach Oliver?
Well, the answer was quite simple honestly.
This side of the lesser dimension was teeming with wildlife, playing host to numerous beasts.
But all of these creatures were terrestrial in nature, making the skies of this side of the lesser dimension notably devoid of aerial predators.
This lack of sky-bound threats gave Val a strategic advantage.
He chose the unobstructed aerial route to bypass potential confrontations on the ground, ensuring he could reach Oliver in the shortest time span possible!
Meanwhile, in a clearing close to one of the many shimmering ponds, Oliver felt afraid and anxious as he was effectively surrounded by the menacing devils that were thirsting for his blood on all fronts.
His hair, wet with his sweat, stuck damply to his forehead. Similarly, his back bore the evidence of his escalating stress, being soaked with perspiration due to the dire circumstances he was enmeshed in.
Whoosh!
Without any warning, the devils lunged at Oliver in unison. Their razor-sharp claws sliced through the air with deadly precision, each targeting the vital parts of Oliver’s body, intending to incapacitate and then finish him.
Facing such a coordinated onslaught from multiple adversaries, even if Oliver had been blessed with four arms and two heads, he would still have found it nearly impossible to fend off their simultaneous attacks, much less now when he was running so low on his soul power that he couldn’t perform wizardry or feed his cursed artifacts the soul power they needed to function.
His trusted cursed artifacts ran on soul power, but since they were basically starved of the very thing they required to spring into action, he couldn’t whip out a trump card to turn this situation around.
All Oliver could do was stand rooted to the spot, his eyes widening in sheer terror as the devils brought his death ever closer to him.
“Guess this is where my journey ends,” Oliver thought somberly.
He sighed deeply, letting out a weighty exhale that seemed to carry with it all his fears and regrets.
Raising his gaze from the devils closing in on him with the promise of certain death, he looked at the sky as if trying to find some sort of solace in the vast expanse of the night sky.
He hoped that in his final moments, he could at least feast his eyes on the tranquil beauty of the stars decorating the night sky rather than the monstrous visages of the devils that sought his life.
The cold gleam of countless celestial bodies in the sky of the lesser dimension seemed distant yet they comforted him.
He had tried his best to stay alive and become strong, but his best wasn’t enough and he was going to die here of all places.
Facing certain death, he only had one regret. He regretted that he wasn’t able to repay his master and friend for all they had done for him before his death!
And he hoped they wouldn’t blame him for leaving them all behind as he really couldn’t do anything to change the outcome this time.
‘I will miss them.’
It looked like Oliver was destined to die here.
But as he set his eyes on the sky one last time, a peculiar sight caught his attention β a tiny, inky speck was plummeting down the sky rapidly, and coming directly toward their location.
As it drew nearer, Oliver’s pupil constricted as he discerned that this was no mere fleck of debris or bird; it was something β or someone β entirely different, something unexpected.
In the split second when the sharp, menacing claws of the devils seemed destined to end Oliver’s life, the dark speck crashed down from the sky like a sword immortal, which, upon closer inspection, was none other than a devilishly handsome with an unparalleled demeanor, and with a resounding Bam, he landed with such immense force in front of Oliver that the ground beneath them cracked and clouds of dust kicked up, billowing around them like flags of victory in the wind.
The devils and Oliver were shocked as a person appeared out of nowhere, standing between them like a wall that couldn’t be breached. The person was dressed in black.
Oliver, from his position, could only view the broad and steadfast back of this newcomer, rendering him unable to discern his identity immediately.
He pondered the stranger’s motives for suddenly interfering in his execution at the hands of the devils. The devils, on the other hand, were taken aback; they hadn’t sensed him approaching, much less seen how he appeared between them and their target.
It usually meant one of the following two things.
Either he was so weak they couldn’t sense him, or he was a formidable force of such magnitude that he could skillfully avoid their detection, sneaking up on them effortlessly.
Given the aura he exuded that was covering up his surroundings in ink, black darkness that was impossible to look through as it was the reflection of the depth of the abyss, the latter seemed closer to the undeniable truth!
Realizing that this newcomer could wipe the floor with them, the devils wanted to retreat, but they had gone all in when they pounced towards Oliver so they found it challenging to halt their momentum and retreat.
“You did well, surviving for so long against such overwhelming odds. I will handle them from here,” said the man who just appeared.
Oliver thought the voice sounded eerily familiar, as if it belonged to someone he knew, prompting his eyebrows to knit in thought.
Then, a realization hit him like a bolt of lightning: This was Val!
Just when that realization hit Oliver, with Val as the epicenter, an awe-inspiring and tumultuous outburst of soul power erupted.
Its intensity and force were akin to a volcanic explosion, threatening to engulf everything in its path.
Yet, like a miracle, this power that burst out from Val surged past Oliver without disturbing even a single hair on his head before it ominously headed straight for the flabbergasted devils. πΈπ½πΏxt.ππΆπ
The four devils were still in the act of lunging towards Oliver with their claws stretched out. But before they could pull back, the massive and violent wave of soul power discharged from Val hit them with the force of a thousand thunders. They flew backward like kites with broken strings and broke through dozens of trees before coming to a stop after smashing into a boulder and falling to the ground.
Like anyone who was attacked out of the blue, they too wanted to know who attacked them, but more than that was the fear they held for their attacker. He came out of nowhere and so fast that even they couldn’t notice his arrival, and then smacked them across the terrain. Clearly, He was so strong they didn’t hold a candle to him.
If they stuck around, they would die.
Now that their own lives were on the line, forgot about avenging their boss.
Instead, they scrambled back to their feet and made a run for it, desperate to put as much distance between themselves and this formidable enemy.
“Who allowed you to run? You’re going to stay here and give up your life!”
They had just started running when Val focused his eyes on them and activated the Void Force skill.
An intense pressure radiated off of him; it was like a high wave as it took to the sky before falling on the focus of his gaze.
As Val’s Force of the Void settled over them, the devils felt as though an enormous mountain, cold and unyielding, was placed on their backs.
Crack~
The devils’ expression contorted in pain instantly as under its weight, not only did their backs snap, but their bodies were also forcibly pinned to the forest floor.
And just when they thought it couldn’t get any worse, the pressure acting on them as per Val’s will. escalated, driving them deeper into the mossy ground beneath, so deep it seemes like they were buried alive.
As they had already shown cowardice before the battle even began, Val’s Void Force skill worked exceptionally well on them. After all, it was a formidable technique that was specially crafted to be most effective against adversaries who had, in one way or another, conceded their imminent defeat, either through their hesitant actions or through their very words!
The devils were suppressed by his Void Force skill. He could enslave them to his will, but he didn’t want weaklings as his underlings. So he decided to follow through with his words and kill them.
Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!
Val drew his arm back and punched the air in front of him, not once, but several times.
Each time he punched the air, an unusual change took place.
A total of four hellish fireballs manifested and flew off his clenched fist.
Whoosh!
They tore through the air, leaving a trail of smoky haze behind them as they fell into the craters where the devils were suppressed.
