Chapter 209 209: Clea Thunderspear
An old man with yellow skin and turbid eyes spoke out, “He last made an appearance two years ago, participating in the extermination of the mountain clan, who had been illegally occupying territory in the Wysmire Mountain range and terrorizing not only the surrounding strongholds but also the Northern Frontier.
“He earned worldwide recognition for killing the eldest son of the mountain clan’s chief with a single move.
“The eldest son of the mountain clan’s chief was only 21 years old when the battle took place, but he was a level 3 bloodline user.
“To be able to kill him so effortlessly, he was not ordinary even then. Two years have since passed; Clea must have grown stronger. It’s hard to predict who will come out on top.”
The crowd looked at the old man but failed to recognize him.
The old man was the one who’d chronicled hundreds of past events and had them etched into the annals of the city’s history, but he usually worked from behind the scene, following his master’s orders with complete obedience and recording history as spoken by the victors.
Thus, although he was the respected historian of the Lower City, better known as the City’s Chief Chronicler, it was hard for the commoners to know his true identity.
However, there was no lie in the old man’s words. 𝒪𝗏𝐞𝓁xt.𝐜𝚘𝑚
The crowd whispered among themselves, “It had really happened.”
The people of the mountain clan were a bunch of bandits, attacking and looting people without shame. They were extremely ruthless in the way they handled things.
After conquering a stronghold, men were killed or forced into hard labor while children and women were enslaved.
The beautiful ones were forced into prostitution.
They also loved to attack merchant convoys. Like a swarm of locusts, everywhere they went would be stripped of all its value.
The inlanders and the royal family remained silent despite the atrocities committed by the mountain clan of the mountain range, seemingly having no intention of helping.
They weren’t the ones suffering, so why would they help?
With the inlanders and the royals keeping quiet about the matter, the outlanders and the Thunderspear tribe looked to resolve it with their own hands as they couldn’t stand it anymore. Without waiting for orders from above, they annihilated the entire mountain clan to the very last man, leaving nothing behind. Those who should be rescued were rescued; those who should be killed were killed and set ablaze so they won’t turn into zombies.
The Mountain Clan was eradicated from existence, reduced to ashes, not a single trace of their existence left to be found.
But no one thought it was a pity.
Instead, they all had the same idea that it was a good thing.
“Who is this old man? And why is he blabbering so much?” Val wondered.
Looking at him from the corner of his eyes to not make it obvious that he was, in fact, staring at him, he cast detect, finding out about the identity of the yellow-skinned old man.
The revelation left him astounded.
The old man was the previous City lord.
Val rolled his eyes internally. “So he was just blowing his grandson’s trumpet? Isn’t he afraid that too much praise might spoil him rotten?”
“Grand Uncle is also here? What is going on…” Staring at the old man, Oliver’s demeanor could no longer stay stable. He had a bad feeling about this.
“Begin!” As a gentle wind blew, a voice thundered across the Coliseum, signaling the start of a battle that would be talked about for years to come.
After Marshall and Lucious retreated from the arena, the cage trapping the beast opened up by itself, and the Red-Maned Ape was set free.
The Ape lumbered out of the cage, using its knuckles to support its weight as it moved.
The sun hung low in the sky, casting an elongated shadow of the beast across the arena. The elongated shadow of the beast stretched all the way to Clea, causing him to be enveloped within it.
Standing at 5ft tall, it towered menacingly over Clea, looking down at him in disdain and desire. Its mouth salivated It had been intentionally starved for three days to bring out its full potential. Its eyes now overflowing with a ravenous hunger remained fixed on its prey.
Clea, despite the looming threat, stood where he was, undisturbed. Not a single ripple appeared in his nonchalant expression. His demeanor was calm, eyes unwavering as he met the gaze of the beast.
“Despite facing a starving Red-Maned Ape, every bit of his posture is radiating confidence and an unyielding spirit. Either he’s a fool that’s not afraid of death, or… he genuinely doesn’t view the Red-Maned Ape as a significant threat,” Marshall said.
“It’s the latter,” Lucious uttered in a voice bearing certainly.
“Lord, why are you so certain?” Marshall asked humbly.
Lucious turned towards him, smiling. “Because I can see it in him.”
“See what?” Marshall asked in confusion.
“The arrogance of the strong,” Lucious replied with a smile.
Ao! Ao! Ao!
The ape slammed its chest with its fists, releasing a primal howl that resonated throughout the coliseum.
Clea smirked, a taunting glint in his eyes, “Are you just going to keep on howling? Or will you make a move?”
In response, the ape lunged at him, fists raised high. With terrifying speed and momentum, it brought its fists crashing down towards Clea. The Ape moved so fast that Clea’s doom was brough towards him in a flash.
Many in the audience, especially young girls, closed their eyes, regretting that such a handsome face might meet a gruesome end. They couldn’t bear to watch his final moments.
“Arrogant fool. If he gets killed, he will just be getting what he deserved.”
Of course there were those who were envious and jealous of Clea. They wished him.the worst, looking forward to his demise.
But they were bound to be dissapointed today.
Val was utterly focused on watching the match, ignoring the happenings in his happening. As the ape’s fists drew closer to the lonesome figure, Clea’s body twitched.
Val’s eyes widened in shock, “He disappeared?”
