Chaos Heir

Chapter 1629: Crowning

Chapter 1629: Crowning

Khan’s words were unmistakable, and the mental part of his announcement forced anyone hearing them to understand what they truly meant. As long as he was around, the Thilku Empire would be under his protection.

Considering that no one could match Khan’s current level, that promise acted as the greatest political support any force could receive. He was powerful enough to build empires with his mere presence, so his words did far more than that.

Still, there was something else in the announcement, something cheers-worthy. Khan had confirmed that the True Chaos’ God was no more. The war was over, and the regulated universe had won it.

Of course, as happy as the news was, many restless, political minds among the audience couldn’t help but focus on the future. The universe might be safe now, but those inside it had to deal with its new state.

Obviously, all the new concerns revolved around Khan.

Khan had already been strong enough to steer the political sphere in his favor, amassing so many powerful allies that no individual force could ever hope to match his organization.

Things had worsened even further due to Khan’s new fearsome state. What was left of the army hinted at many losses, with some involving powerful assets, but Khan’s ascension more than compensated for those. Actually, his side had never been stronger.

If Khan wished to, he seemed fully capable of taking over the universe, subjugating any species that didn’t directly swear allegiance to him. Neutral positions could be gone with a single look from his obscuring gaze, and far worse would unfold if he actually decided to act.

The monster from outside the universe was gone, but the allied front had gained a monster of its own, and no one knew what its next move would be. They were simply aware that nothing would be able to stop him.

And Khan could almost hear those concerns. He could smell that different, specific fear in the air. His political knowledge had also long since updated him on those matters, but they weren’t something he could fix.

After all, the issue originated from Khan’s superior state, which he couldn’t just abandon. His ascension was final, and the power it had generated put every decision in his hands.

The easiest, most peaceful solution would be to leave or sever any ties with the political aspects of those inferior lifeforms. Khan had never truly cared about those in the first place, so it would be an effortless decision.

Truth be told, Khan had even considered that option during this ascension. That would have been the path he would have chosen if he had ended up stepping into godhood.

However, Khan had chosen to become a horror, a beast, and those beings were greedy. Besides, he had made promises he intended to keep. Even if no one said anything, he would carry the weight he had decided to shoulder, as well as enforce his vision on the universe.

Nevertheless, Khan hadn’t been the only one immersed in his thoughts. Lord Envoy and Lord Enforcer also had to consider important matters, especially with that golden crown hanging in front of them.

Needless to say, Khan’s announcement hit the two Thilku deeply. Actually, anyone from that species could guess what was unfolding due to his gesture, experiencing similar feelings.

Despite the different species, faction, force, and organization, Khan had still given the honor of that victory to the Thilku Empire, which wasn’t exactly wrong.

Khan was indeed a Thilku Lord, a member of the Thilku Empire. He had also requested to represent that species before diving into the final battle, so his statement had technically been completely true.

Yet, technicalities were just that. Meanwhile, reality told a different story, a story the two Royal Guards didn’t really focus on.

Because when Khan made his announcement, Lord Enforcer and Lord Envoy felt pride, both in their species and in that fearsome warrior who had led them to victory. No greater war had ever existed, but the Thilku Empire could claim to have conquered it now.

And the two Royal Guards couldn’t help but consider what their definition of an Emperor actually involved at that pride. The Emperor had to be the strongest Thilku. The Emperor had to be the fastest Thilku. The Emperor had to be the wisest Thilku.

And most importantly, the Emperor had to be the greatest Thilku.

Now, Khan didn’t really look like a Thilku. He was too short, had too much hair, and the wrong skin color. Even his hands were missing the iconic second thumb.

Yet, different species aside, Khan was without a doubt a proper member of the Thilku Empire, as well as its strongest, fastest, wisest, and generally greatest asset.

Moreover, Khan wielded the most important feature of them all. He shared the Empire’s pride and could make Thilku experience it. He was an inspiring leader through and through.

It seemed the only real issue lay in the fact that Khan had been born in the wrong species, but the thought of relying on that excuse felt beyond insulting when the two Royal Guards considered his previous statement.

There was only one course of action there, one obvious decision to be made. Khan wasn’t a member of the Thilku Empire just by name, so the Royal Guards had to act upon that.

Lord Enforcer and Lord Envoy didn’t need to exchange looks to understand their shared mindset. They didn’t even need to talk to decide on who would have the honor of making the next move.

Seniority might be a scam, but it prevailed there.

Lord Envoy reached for the golden crown, taking it off Khan’s hands, staring at it for a few seconds before his mana expanded in the area, connecting his voice to its space.

“[The Emperor is dead],” Lord Envoy announced in his native language, his words meant for every member of the Thilku Empire. “[Long live the Emperor].”

And Khan had to admit that some primal pride flooded him when Lord Envoy placed the golden crown back on his head, the item somehow carrying new weight, responsibility, and meaning.

I think you can probably guess that the story is reaching its conclusion.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support during these challenging years.

As always, all this exists because of and thanks to you, and I’ll forever be grateful for that.
